103 Degrees Celcius + RV 770LE = ???

i just installed a q6600, havent even got to bench it and the freaking card died :(

I say 5850, too bad they arent around at all lol... paper launch ftllllllllLLLLLLLLLLLLLL...

rma it and wait seems to be the best option, since then you will at least be able to sell the RMA for a little $$.

^_^ I hope you're being sarcastic.

the cost to send it away and send it back would be greater than the cost of the card, cant hurt to ask the guy i got the card from though.

can I buy one right now? I know what you're getting at - its not technically a paper launch, but they're not around and haven't been for weeks.

EDIT: that sucks about the cost of the card...

so i guess i wont find any used 5850's either

getting a copy of teh reciept ... gonna investigate how much to get it rma'd

cant fit in my el cheepo case

then i think your best best is either a 5770 or 5750 then, since they aren't too badly priced, are power efficient (1pin too) and should comfortably beat the 4870 (and by extension, beat the 4830 into a pulp) once they get some real drivers. Obviously if they're a bit expensive atm i would just hold out for a few months for them to drop to sub $100 prices (which'll probably happen when nvidia release their cards to make sure they can't get a foothold in the mainstream market). You could always get a cheap hd4670 or something if you really need a card for those few months and sell it on when you get a hd5770.

I have to buy one card to hold me for a while cause where i am i have to pay import dutys and taxes in addition to crazy shipping from the us, so buying a card to hold me for 2-3-4 years is best

ah right, so in that case saving for a hd5850 may be best, since that would last you a few years, whereas the hd5770 most likely won't.

and the uk seems ok for 5850/70 supply too, although the tech scene isn't really that pronounced here, since this country is full of old and/or computer illiterate people :)

started the rma process, msi has an "outlet" here, ill see if i can arrange for it to be dropped off there.

well if you can wait couple months or so to buy 5850 then do it and maybe save up for a better case too?? an antec 300 or one of the coolermaster elite 330-334 or 690 will fit the 5850 no problem.
You could use your dad's laptop for web browsing and then when 5850 hits the shelves in websites and you got money for it and a case then buy them.
If you do get the 5850 you might want consider overclocking your Q6600,that CPU is a beast when its overclocked

well i just got news that dear old dad will be needing his laptop soon :|

everything screams for a PCI card, as long as your funds arent enough:)

i have apci card but it is dead

updait: a friend may come to the rescue witha pci card

MSI is such a dick, theyre sending me to the retailer.

MSI has offred to take the card but i must ship to Poland .. WTF?

wonder if i should save for a 5850?

I would, the 5870 I have rocks, and a 5850 with 5870 voltage does very well for itself, very well. that's if you can find one.

hats off for your poor card man, I feel for you.

POLAND! WTF! Isnt that like the other side of the world for you?
Dont they have one closer to home, like shipping to the states for example would sound more realistic. Poland wtf its not even as if i live in the UK and have had to RMA to Poland.
