It seems for some strange coincidence in the cosmos (my professional opinion is that the planets are aligned in a directly straight line pointing towards ATI's HQ) that all the prices on their 5850s on newegg have dropped :)
example: 5850 toxic: started 330, went to 380, NOW 320!

Edit: they are also new models. current toxic is 100282VXSR my launch toxic is 100282TXSR and the newer model is pcie 2.1 if that makes a difference for anything :)

Of course though, that may not be ATi dropping their prices, just the middle men skimming less off their profit margin, perhaps at the request (read demand) of ATi or the board partner.

May I add a statement to your already eloquently put words..

..aye shite will they!

(though coincidentally i price checked the 5870 vapor X on OcUK and Newegg and the Newegg price is $449 (£300) and the OcUK price is £350 - about 16% more - so not too hyper inflated.)

lol, on a side note, looking for random stuff i found this bold statement:

New Nvidia Zotac GTX285 1gb GTX 285 5-Year Warranty

GTX295 is now obsolete, this is currently the best Nvidia GPU

from here http://www.easypc-uk.com/graphics-cards/91-zotac-nvidia-gtx285-5-year-warranty.html

I guess the link wont last long.

I'm seeing slight price drops on 5850's only. In my area anyway

The toxic model (765/1125) is still priced @ $380 ... but its the new vapor-x model (735/1125) which is @ $320 ... and i dont see any price drops ... it's still the same ... just new models ... :( ...

Small drop in 5850s from what I'm seeing, $10-$15. 5870 seem to be more expensive on the Egg all the sudden.

ah, my bad on that. I saw the color scheme on it and forgot to read for details. BUT, if it uses the vapor-x cooling then you get the toxic card for cheaper without the factory OC that can be outdone really easily anyways. So in essence it's still cheaper lol

I love my toxic that I have for sure. I got it on launch and I love the colors as it fits perfect with my desktop. It overclocks very well for being volt-locked (it won't go above 1.088 regardless of programs) I get it up to 930/1330 and run heaven benchmark for stability test. Gaming I pull it back to 915/1320 just to make sure that drivers stay stable (sometimes they'd go down on me w/ the higher OC, not sure why, maybe just coincidence). So if you want overclocking I'd get the asus ones since they have special volt mod tools. But if you want your card to keep cool get the vapor-x (not toxic though) for some great cooling and still quite strong OC capability :)

QFT. ATi's MSRP hasn't changed since release.
