Well okay then. I guess I just have to lower some settings. That for all the help guys, I really appreciate it.

i dont know the game so i dont know what settings it has, but look for PhysX, antialiasing and shaders and turn them down one by one (in that order) - those are the performance hogs that usually affect performance the most, for the least visual gain. Turning those settings to their medium (or equivalent) options is usually a wise move.

Okay I turned them down and I would say the framerate is good enough. Again thank you everyone who helped me and I hope this problem does not persist in other games.

i assume you mean CANT, but the truth is it can. you might not be able to run it on maximum settings, but hell, most of us here cant. that guy is just trolling.

To be honest, that computer could probably run it at med-high settings. I maxed it out and was getting really high frame rates.

Well to be honest I wasn't completely set on this game, like im not gonna die if it doesn't work out. But it just kinda alarmed me it was lagging so much. So if this is the only game having this problem, its not a big deal to me.

This is your problem right here:

Power Supply: CORSAIR Builder Series CX430 V2 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power

You are running a 6850 with only 336W and 28A on the V12 Rail.

Get a PSU with more Wats and Amps.

Is this game require a permanent connection to the internet? Might be that the lag comes from the net connection? I think that AC2 did the saves through the net.

According to this, that card draws less than 120watts under load. But they use Furmark and 3dMark. I don't know how representative those benchs are compared to actual game play.

Sorry to question you on your very first post, but I thought it was something worth pointing out. :toast:

Both Furmark and 3DMark 11 consume more than your average game, so typical usage when gaming is lower than that. 28 A are plenty for that card assuming he doesn't have many other things in that rail, like 6 or more HDD/DVD/BR or things like that. Also high OC can be a problem on that PSU, but OC has not been mentioned. It would be noticed in other games too if the PSU was overloaded.

Which other games have been tried btw?

It isn't really a "problem", at times you have to accept that you will not be able to use maximum settings in a game as certain titles were created with headroom and features to take advantage of future hardware. It was a long time before hardware caught up with the demands of Crysis 2, for example. Metro 2033 is also a very demanding game, but in both instances, turning down AA and certain other aspects will allow you to play the game at quality levels that the current generation of consoles could never achieve. In short, do not let the fact that you cannot employ maximum settings on all titles ruin your enjoyment, accept it as an intrinsic part of pc gaming.

You sure you actually installed the newer drivers? Your post made it sound like you just downloaded them and expected it to do everything itself.

FInd where you downloaded the drivers to, then double-click on the installer. Make sure to uninstall the old ones first (it will have an uninstall option) then run it again after the machine reboots.

Hi,

well, just went to Ubisoft's forum for AC: Brotherhood and saw that a lot of people are complaining about these lagging in the PC version of the game. Many people said that this games suffered from bad coding, hence the poor performance of the game with some mid/high-end PCs.

Well, for the time-being, you can download the RadeonPro tool, install it and with this you can configure the triple buffering, turn it on under the tweak tab (Direct3D Tweaks) for smoother gameplay in 3D games; normally games run with double buffering, but it hampers the performance quite a lot when Vsync is enabled (to get rid of tearing), so enabling triple buffering will smooth out the gameplay and it really helps.

You may also be interested in the miscellaneous tweaks, particular the cpu affinity; try to enable 2 cores (cpu0 & cpu1) instead of the 3 cores you have and see if the games work better/smoother now. It just may help.

might be... but a long time ago I was using a 7800GTX and had a PSU like the one he has and it was giving me the same problems in gaming. Changed the PSU and Problem solved.

When I played AC:B, I did it with a Q9550 @3.4Ghz, 4Gb ram and an ATI 5870 1GB, Maxed out and running at 1080P with no lagging...

Sorry to question you on your very first post, but I thought it was something worth pointing out. :toast:

that PSU has enough power to run that video card fine, and even if it didnt, lack of power does not cause performance issues - the PSU either shuts the system off due to OCP on quality units like this one, or on cheap units (or faulty ones) the voltages go out of spec and the system crashes. PSU's dont cause performance problems.

I used to have the same problem... The Graphics throttled down because it didn't get sufficient power.

I'm calculating the power necessary for the system and I'm getting 324W, and I'm not putting hdds/opticals. Just put a regular board, the cpu, and the graphics.

run those same calculators on my system. if you get any higher than 300W at load (monitor included), then its useless. thats with four hard drives (the rest have external power) - his system will be nowhere near my power consumption, like you are stating it is.

Then you are calculating wrong. Total system draw for his PC can hardly exceed 250w at the wall.

The above is using a Core i5, but his CPU/MB will hardly consume much more. The graph shows 177 watts for the HD6850 system, I was conceeding 75w more to your case and said 250 w, still a far cry from your figure.

And even if the system would consume 324w, so what? That's 100w less than what the PSU can handle.

its 300-320W, tested at the wall when gaming.

spikes to roughly 400W in synthetic loads, say furmark + OCCT at the same time.
