Oblivion Mods

Should check out the Nehrim mod. It's a full revamp of the game..levels are gained differently. entire different world. http://www.nehrim.de/dataEV.html

Does Nehrim require the script extender? and is it in English? as I've seen a few videos in German - is the story any good?

not sure. yes. its about 30-40 hours from what my friend tells me.

If you're all hurting for FPS (or generally just want a boost) I'd recomend you open your ini and look for "bAllow30Shaders" and set it to 1, then look for what shader package it is using (I think it's in renderinfo.ini, and usually 13) and go to oblivion/data/shaders, back up the one you are using (AKA shaderpackage13), and copy/rename shaderpackage19 to shaderpackage13.

There's also a d3d9_31 (or maybe newer) dll floating around that seems to help people too. Unfortunately I did both of these at the same time, so I can't say which one does more.

shader package data is worthless

if you use various vanilla helmets and armors you will end up having a bald head missing ears and numerous other issues,

Oblivion never had full 3.0 shaders some items do some dont, so its a mixed bag it did help HDR rendering a bit giving it a cleaner look and offering better performance but items like Iron Armor end up looking like shit. and anything that uses the base model or base textures results in the same issues do to it missing a 3.0 shader file. all in all not worth it

easiest way to gain performance in oblivion, is to mess with the shadow settings, i run extreme shadow settings and 2x 5850s got knocked down to 1fps avg where the extra 200mb of vram on a 470s allowed the game to run fairly smoothly, for the most part, draw distance, shadows and shadow filtering have the largest impact in performance with Oblivion, as way back then none of those features were really well done on the Old Gamebryo engine.

I'm going to be gone over the weekend, so I decided to have the craputer toast the meshes BSA (less vertices, organize verts better, etc - speed things) and if all goes well would ya'll be interested in me uploading it someplace so you can download it?

MediaFire would be ideal.

OK, all didn't go well (I ran out of RAM) - I don't think it deleted anything but not everything is optimized. Anywho I didn't compress anything (why would I if it isn't fully optimized?), so the file is 1.2 GB and Mediafire will only let me do anything over 200MB, so I made a torrent of it, and I'll be seeding as long as I can.

Over this week I plan on having it work nights optimizing the individual folders inside the BSA, and then I'll upload a better one (fully optimized, and maybe compressed).

Also: I haven't tried it, so I can't say whether it's awesome or not.

deposit files will let you host 2gb
http://depositfiles.com/en/

there not as oftenly used so there download speeds have always been consistently better.

And here's the fully optimized version.

I haven't tried it yet, so I can only tell you that it's awesome (instead of super awesome).

well you had to start a thread on oblivian... the only game in my collection i didnt finish...

well i've reinstalled it... see you in 300hours...

ok i've played through the first 40mins or so... i'm walking around looking at textures... they seem very weak indeed...(i remember this game being and looking like awesome sauce)

so i'm going to dll a texture mod and also the no psychic guards mod...

and off i go... :/

well i got 6 hours in and it looks like one of the mods has corrupted a texture file, as most enemies i'm coming across in the dungeons all have a big exclamation mark shaped artifact covering thier body... feeling pretty pissed as i didnt back up the original texture file......f@ck pig shit c@nt....

tried all the bsa modding crap.... reinstalling.... if my save doesnt work i'll have to just pass this game out the window... into the middle of the road... ^^

reinstalled and updated oblivion... loaded and the game still exibited the exclamation marks... turns out it was the francescos items mod which caused all the issues... i recommend avoiding at all costs untill theres a tutorial available with a simple fix... i couldnt find much on it...but the bsa patcher redirection bollox didnt help...

just avoid the leveled item lists and all that shit completely

Oblivion Overhaul mods
Francescos items etc

all those mods tend to conflict with a metric shit ton of other mods.

I need to see if it still have this game installed. I loved it alot! I will try out these mods

yes people.... this game with these mods will run you through, then pull out to shoot its filthy muck in your tiny faces...

just completed the game.... Epic Ending... although if i had realised skyrim took place 200years in the future i might of chosen to give this game a miss...

was worth playing just for the ending.....

OK I just got this game yesterday from WhiteLotus (£1 bargain!!!)

It's the GOTY edition and I'm having issues with the infamous embryo engine stutter. It's installed on my SSD but its not an I/O problem it's a frame sync issue. I have tried the "Oblivion stutter remover" and set it from 0-60fps with some success, I also unticked slowmotion. It runs fairly smooth for the most part but has a tiny bit of frameskipping in certain areas. Are there anymore tweaks I can do to smooth it out a wee bit more?

I also don't think Qarls Texture Pack 3 is activating/installing right, maybe I'm just used to more modern day textures. Is there anyway I can check if it's definitely being used?

yea look at the images quarl has showing the graphic difference then look at the same items if they dont look right its not working that simple

for oblivion try using radeon Pro, if i remember correctly a few settings in the newest version helped smooth out New Vegas for me, so i would expect messing with its settings should fix Oblivion.

I too prefer it when environtment/buildings have better texturing instead of changing everything. i.e. stock but far better resolution. Even found a mod which makes pumpkins look nicer. Anyone know of a mod which removes all pears from the game? Only since I'm allergic to them.

All sorted now, I redownloaded the texture pack and stutter remover. Reinstalled the game, installed mod manager, added the texture pack, added the stutter remover. Turned all settings up to max, turned on MLAA and used d3doverrider went into the game and oblivion is running uber smooth...very happy. The texture pack definitely improves the GFX, I can clearly see it is working now :) .

Now I'm going to go about adding other mods - I don't really want to change the core of the game at all just update whatever graphics I can. I'll maybe start with the weather mod.

What about DMRA BBB?:p

I need to install all of the unofficial oblivion patches on a fresh install but the link is down on tesnexus for -

The Unoffical Oblivion Patch - Supplementals

Has anyone got a copy of this they could upload for me please? Cheers in advance.

Anyone? I'm looking to get this all fully sorted ready for a playthrough :)
