Oblivion Mods

I'm heavily considering burning all the mods I've downloaded to a 8.5GB DVD-R DL. I'm sure others have way more GBs downloaded with them. Even I'm heavily considering if these get to be larger than 8.5GB I'll burn it to a 25GB BD-R disc. Even considering doing the exact same thing for mods for Fallout 3 and New Vegas.
Pity most of the mods I want to try out won't even run correctly on my current tower.

you anti flash disk/backup hdd or what? lol

I figure if it's burnt to disc with the game(s) in question, as an extra disc, it'd be easier access. External HDD would be fine but I guess it's more customisation with the retail stuff.
Well that and I'm too lazy at the moment buying an external HDD.

Ok I got the water mod, Qarls Texture Pack 3 and Oblivion mod manager. I followed the directions but I'm not sure if they worked. Can any of you tell by these screenshots? My dumbass activated them BEFORE I saw what the original game looked like.

But honestly I don't really like this game all that much. It seems a lot more complex then Fallout was. Some things are familiar but its hard to find my way around. When I start walking it seems redundant and health seems way to hard to come by. I'm about 4 hours in and I just hit level 2 with one quest completed lol.

I agree to an extent.

Noob.

At least you haven't done the "vampire arc" yet...

I think I find it tougher to relate to this world. Fallout series is more like a surreal version of reality. Here its like "Go to Blood Wolf cave and search or the boogiedy boo gem. It will give you unlimited karma boost so you can talk to Wilma. She will show you the way to the future!"

I'm like WTF do I care? WTF is the whole point? Some dude got killed and I'm free now. Screw this I'm out!......but what would be the point of the game. In Fallout you are trying to find your dad or trying to find out who robbed you. Here its like "The stars will direct you". WTF? Who cares?

Those screenshots are quite lovely. LOL

Mate its called a story i mean star wars isnt exactly realistic.

The main quest is just by some fate you get put in jail and get caught up in some stuff like the emperors death, your tasked with delivering an amulet and saving the day because everything goes to shit with the gates.

Why would anyone do anything? These type of games just give you quests and a main quest do it or not, play the game or don't. I think your missing the point of Oblivion.

I always found Oblvion to be a more interesting game than fallout 3. Shivering Isles was a great expansion. The guilds quests are pretty cool, the thieves guild and brotherhood especially but its been a long time since i played through oblvion.

Yes, your mods are working. If walking bugs you, use the fast travel on the map to get where you are going. Best way to have fun is to find a guild and join up. Ignore the main quest for a while.

Its just if that were me I wouldn't give a shit ya know? In Fallout:NV someone jacked me and I knew I had to get my stuff back.

In Fallout 1 shit breaks loose at home because my dad bolted. You wanna find out WHY the dick left you.

In Oblivion I just broke out of jail. Why in the hell should I care about the blood line of the asshole who put me in there? They were gonna hang me before. Now they need me? FU. I'm gonna pawn this shit.

I'll figure it out. As it stands now its confusing and to me Fallout was a vastly better game.

Personally the actual main story line in the Oblivion is kinda shit, I did however thoroughly enjoy walking around and uncovering stuff. It's like the main quest should be a side quest, and somehow all the other quests of becoming whoever the fuck you want be the main quest.

Also I see you have an ATI card, I assume they fixed the bloom issue now or.... what?

You do realise you can cast a healing spell? and potions are not really that rare in the game.

However you got into prison its backstory isnt set. IF you needed a reason to do the main quest think of it as being tasked, your asked to deliver the amulet because the emperor believed it is fate. Why do you need a better reason than that? There are gods and its a fantasy medieval setting FATE doesn't sound out of the question in that setting. The emperor specifically tasked you the player anyway. You don't have to do the main quest at all i just don't see the point in not doing it at some point.

Later your asked to become a Blade and do some tasks for them in the main quest.

The original Fallout has you finding a chip, something to do with water supply in your vault and then killing a mutant race. I could interpret the Fallout 3 plot as i don't want to ever see my dad again because he nearly got me killed the prick. So i would just never do the main quest which is pointless.

First off the emperor was going to kill me. It wasn't until he needed me did he find "fate" so I call BS on his motives.

Second off your dad leaving in Fallout 3 was to help you in the long run by activating the GECK. Hes trying to help and didn't know all hell would break lose if he left. Its not like he was being a deadbeat Dad.

Fallout:NV was all about principle. Asshole put a bullet in my head and stole my stuff. Someone is gonna pay.

So yeah the plot in Oblivion is weak in the sense its very hard to relate to the main quest. It would have been easier I think if I was a farmer or something and the emperor was there fighting off a horde of monsters and dead defending my family or something. THEN I would feel obligated to help him. As it stands now I'm trying to pawn this gem he gave me.

Fixed it.

lol thanks.

I could not get into oblivion... love fallout but like mail is saying, the story is too fantasy for me.

RPGs are the only games I like playing most of the time. I get tired of generic FPS games really quick.

Fallout3 and NV were good though.... I only played a little of NV though, as I borrowed an xbox from my bro for a night....

had FO3 and the crashes were pissing me off too much...

I hope that Skyrim won't be a crashfest.

There's always the unofficial patches.

Some reason on the tower I'm using I can't seem to get the companion mod to work. CTD each time. I'm not going to worry about it until Atmoic Monkey is completed.
I could recommend some texture mods but there'd be too many to list and I go more for pick and choose. Well compared to bulk files.
Morrowind feels more fantasy for me though. More diversity with creatures too.

thats why i had mail man get martigens monster mod adds a shit ton of new monsters etc :toast: solves the limited enemy problem

Qarls texture pack is a good all rounder theres some better textures out there key is SOME, mixing and matching to get the best is one thing but if it dosent blend well it becomes obvious, Qarls pack solves that by fixing most things,

as you mentioned tho most mods after the big few are just personal taste.

But does it add more fantastical creatures which are more Morrowind types? I would've created a thread for suggested mods of Morrowind but even with all the mods I have running for that game, still runs damn good. Still looking for overhauls for it.

yes it does look up the damn mod

Anybody know of a decent weapon and/or armor texture pack?

I'm having a huge problem with OBGE. It wont make a ini file so I have no way of editing it to get the standalone effects to work right.

Damn you guys are making me want to reinstal it! One of my fav games guess it depends on what you like - I much prefer this type of game to fallout - Have fun! Knights of the nine is quite good too!
