System Name new system
Processor i5 2500K 4.2ghz
Motherboard asrock p67 pro3
Cooling stock
Memory 4GB DDR3 in dual channel
Video Card(s) GTX 460 1GB 880mhz core, 1800mem
Storage 3 HDs
Display(s) 24 inch LG LCD 1920*1080
Power Supply Silverstone strider 560W
Software windows 7
I bought a Silverstone Strider 560w for my new setup.

which consists of 2GB DDR3 ram, GTX 460 1GB, i5 2500k, 3 hard drives and a DVD writer plus 3 case fans.

do you think that PSU will be enough for that system?

also when overclocking??

IMO is more than enough...anyway wait for feedback from other members cause personally i'm not familiar with Silverstone...

Yes and yes. Tip: Get more DDR3. Here in Sweden 2GB is €10, 4GB is €20. It is very much worth it.

Wow with those prices maybe it's time to move to Sweden!!!

That is way more than plenty.

The peak tests were a 30 min loop of 3Dm06. I will be honest with you, I would be more concerned with cooling than the power supply.

@ ALB R3D

Silverstone is just as popular here in the States as Corsair when it comes to power supplies. They make pretty good modular power supplies.

@JrRacin...yeah in the states maybe...but I don't live in the states!!!
The only "real" PSU i can find here are CM and maybe Corsair or Thermaltake!

You really aren't missing out much. :ohwell:

how is the i5 2500k????

how it can handle new games like Serious Sam 3: BFE?

even though its recommended GPU is very strange. 480 or 580. :/

i hope my new i5 will make up for it.

It should be enough to handle any game when paired with a good GPU

with i5 2500k, do i have to increase any voltage if i want to overclock it to 4.00ghz????

Usually you don't need to increase voltage until after 4Ghz, but no guarantees because each chip clocks differently.

hopefully with my new motherboard i can decently overclock my 460 gtx further.

because right now i cant increase the gpu voltage at all with my current system which is LGA775 based.

if i increase the gpu voltage all of a sudden my computer reboots itself as soon as i start a game.

and this happens while using Silvestone strider 560w PSU, which many of you say its more than enough for my new system.

so the reboots are most likely because of my current LGA775 P5KR motherboard not delivering enough power.

what do you think??

Seems to me a PSU issue but again I don't really know the brand!Wattage is more than enough but maybe something isn't going as it should inside that thing...
Do you have issues when OC only the CPU???
Have u ever measured voltages using HWmonitor???

That's a board issue.

_ALB_R3D X: the brand is Silverstone Strider. i think its a good brand.

and i think it has 2 +12v rails which totals 36a.

should be enough. shouldnt be?

unless as JrRacinFan said, motherboard issue?

_ALB_R3D X: reboots happen only in games, and its more obvious if i increase the gpu voltage. its an instant shut down when i start a game.

so since the PSU should be enough, it can be the power leakage of the motherboard that fails to deliver enough power under heavy load????

does this make sense?

that's why u need to OC the CPU and clear the GTX460 and PSU...!
also check voltages with HWmonitor...my Gigabyte GTX460 kept going with 11.2v on a shitty PSU

:) It's the board

fill your system specs...

i dont know what happens when i increase the GPU voltage......

JrRacinFan: yeah. most likely. by the way, my new 1155 board is asrock p67 pro3.

i couldnt afford more than that. but i tried to get the best one for the price.

I will upgrade on friday. since i have to take my pc to the computer shop for assembling. lol.

i cant assemble myself.

ASRock is good and gettin better and better so don't worry, good choice!
WTH u taking it to the shop...come on u can do it yourself...at least give it try

so by upgrading to the new CPU and motherboard, hopefully i can fix the rebooting issues when i overclock further and also can gain more performance from both GPU and CPU.

Yeah, it's pretty easy, is this going to be an upgrade in an existing case? Also, don't worry about overclocking til you get it running.

JrRacinFan: yeah. existing case.

yeah, i wont overclock the i5 straight away.

first i will overclock the GPU by increasing its voltage and play a game to see if my computer reboots or not.

i have to make sure.

If you can switch out a video card, you can upgrade a motherboard & cpu. Once you move to the new board, just go into safe mode with windows 7, let it rebuild it's drivers reboot and install drivers from the cd/dvd the motherboard came with.

but the drivers that came with cds are old now. cant i just download the latest ones and install them that way?

and what do you mean switch out a video card?
