OFFICIAL Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim (Discussion)

Hey I ahve a question im trying to DL STEP i was under the impression it was like the MGE a pack of workable mods that made skyrim look better. But I cant seem to find it? am i wrong? I looked on skyrim nexus and its all a bunch of ini tweaks or the injector. I dont understand the change log says he added a bunch of mods etc. But their isnt a way to DL it? are you supposed to get them all seperately? I dont understand. If thats the case its a guide to making skyrim better imo.

Seems like they did a good job on this but the keybinding is pissing me off no end and seems like i cannot get the favorite weapon to swap too :|.

Like why the fuck they released this game like this is just totally bullshit yet another company i have to watch out for. Shii they should of got this right from FO3 with the crappy E binding crap ( before they finally patched that shit ).

However games running maxed out with out issue, how ever i did change the AA to x4 as i could not see a difference in that and x8.

I thought the key bindings would have been evolved enough to allow you to add more than one number to a weapon but I guess it may have been an after thought or not done in hopes the modding community would take up the task.

I eventually became used to pausing the game to switch from spell/weapon to weapon/weapon.

Or more like ended up living with it.

I don't think we will see a change in this in the near future as reading up on what is 'supposed' to be focused on is data related to bugged quests which from what I gather is supposed to be released in January.

yeah solaris it looks to be a guide.

I gave up on the game. Mostly because the storytelling really isn't there, and I like storytelling. Also I realized I spent most of my time looking for ore and blacksmith stuff, and I realized I was playing World of Warcraft, but without people. Which could be a good thing if they had some interesting stories to tell. But they don't.

You think Skyrim is like WoW? In the sense they are both open worlds, sure. But honestly thats where the similarities end. The stories and quests in Skyrim have a much more personal feel imo. No quests to kill 50 zombies. No nerfing of certain magic schools because they are stronger than others.

Frick has previously admitted to disliking the fantasy genre, so I think he may be generalizing a teeny bit

Frick dislikes everything.

And to Kurgan I have played and plenty enjoyed a few 3rd person RPGs such as Risen and The Witcher but I still don't get why you choose to play TES that way.

This game's getting me crazy. Yesterday I installed MSI afterburner (and discovered I'm only using one GPU inspite of having 11.11c). So I tried how it works with RadeonPro and both GPU's are used. But with RadeonPro the menus start flashing, I knew that because I had tried RadeonPro before.

So I removed the game profile... and the menus remained flashing. :wtf:

I uninstalled RadeonPro entirely, ran CCleaner and Registry Mechanic... and the menus remain flashing . . . :twitch: If this remains so I'd either end up installing the game, or installing Windows:banghead:

Another weird thing is that I haven't done anything to disable vsync, but my game is running at 90fps now :wtf:  whereas my monitor's refresh rate is 60. Even weirdly it's not even tearing or anything. I wouldn't mind 90 fps of course but I can't stand the menus strobing. I didn't even touch the .ini or anything. :banghead:

True, but on the other hand I don't think the quests are that much better. As I said, storytelling and dialouge are not Bethsofts strongest side. We're still at the stage when conversations go like this:

You: "I come to your house in the middle of night covered in wolf blood. I heard you had a fight with someone. What's that about?"
NPC: "Oh well I don't like him."
..you go and kick the crap out of said man..
You:"I hurt. Me strong. I hurt man."
NPC: "Yay here's a banana."

Exaggerated but not that far from the game, and I'm the kind of gamer that wants a deep story and intelligent dialouge (at least in a game that calls itself an RPG). That does not exist in this game. And you do grind. You have to grind if you want that house and fill it with stuff, or want to make awesome armor or good potions. Not on the same scale, but there is definitevly grinding there.

But I have to say that some things were really good. I really liked the crafting systems, and the world is very pretty. I also liked the combat and the feeling of height and scale you got when climing mountains was awesome. And the voice acting was, with some exceptions, very good. So it does have upsides, I just feel like it's not worth my time.

:toast:

Sounds to me like you just dont enjoy "role-playing games." Maybe should stick to FPS til your tastes mature (Snap)

That's what you get for exploiting the bugs in the game.

When you exaggerate and simplify any story can be made to look ridiculous. when there are HUNDREDS of side quests and stories, not every one will be the Iliad. And no, it is not as deep a story as Witcher for example, but that is not the point of the game. Elder Scrolls are not "RPGs" , though i understand how it can be confused. They are open world fantasy action if anything. by design, They do not force a role on you, and so are not role playing games. the difference is, there is freedom to play a role IF you want. You weave the story with your actions, not just the narrative provided. imagination?

Epic Fantasy Reborn
Skyrim reimagines and revolutionizes the open-world fantasy epic, bringing to life a complete virtual world open for you to explore any way you choose.
Maybe others call it RPG, but Bethsoft does not.

you're doing it wrong ;) sorry, but if that's how you see it why are you playing the game? you call it grinding, i call it exploring. that is the point of the game. the houses and crap are ancillary, the point is exploration.

it just sounds like you don't want to like the game, and aren't geared towards liking it. your criticisms kinda fall short imo, but hey, to each their own.

i had to install the 4gb mod, lately the game was closing itself after 15 min of gameplay, now seems to work fine

I mostly play melee characters and enjoy watching them in action, and now the casting looks great so I like to watch that to. I play everything in 3rd person unless I feel I am at a disadvantage, like racing games I like to play from the front bumper, I get a better feel for the car. Also the game makes me sick in 1st person, I downloaded a mod to fix that, but I don't know, being zoomed in then zooming out, it just feels like I am missing so much of the beauty around me. 1st person with my hands just out on the screen feels clunky to me.

Sounds to me like you just dont enjoy "role-playing games." Maybe should stick to FPS til your tastes mature (Snap)

Frick doesn't enjoy anything. One of these days I'm going to make a compilation quote of everytime he has said he didn't like something. I figure I'll have a lot of it. It doesn't help that he had been mocking Skyrim before he started, walk in with the glass half empty, it's hard to change a decision like that.

I see.

Yeah it's not really an RPG but I probably wouldn't enjoy a real one so much. I don't even know what qualifies anymore, though, if anything.

Yeah I'm pretty sure what a lot of people like about it is that it doesn't force you into a role.

Hey guys, I have a question, I preordered the OST to this game before it came out, but I have not received it yet, and was wondering if any of you guys did the same and have had any luck getting your copy of the OST

I preordered from this site, which was linked from the official Bethesda Skyrim webpage:

http://www.directsong.com/mobile/productdetails.php?productid=2240

It's been almost a month since I placed my preorder and never received a confirmation mail or invoice, but my credit card was charged the moment I placed the order, has any of you guys ever ordered anything from directsong? The site seemed legit, since it was posted in the official website for Skyrim, but I'm starting to think it is a scam :(

That doesn't sound very promising...:(

Maybe its made in china, and it takes three weeks to ship. :D Or maybe its real, but they got so many orders that they're temporarily out of stock.

Why didn't you get it from steam, or gamestop or any number of other sites that are for sure legitimate?

I just finished downloading, its pretty good I guess. I'm just getting to level 1, the graphics really don't look that amazing. I'm attributing this to my gfx card...

I agree with frick as the game gets really boring when u play it for a month or 2 months for 24 hours without stopping trying to make all skills to 100....
:P

Well my game is downloading something from Steam right now, wonder what this patch is.

I was looking at their FAQ and found this little gem:

Q - I am a user of GMAIL, and I have not received any order confirmation from you regarding my purchase.
A - GMail is censoring email communication from DirectSong.com at this time and we are working on a solution to this.

I used a gmail address to place my order, that's probably why I never got the confirmation mail, regardless, it's been almost a month since the order was placed, and still no luck, will try to contact them directly using their "help desk"

Man, I'm really hoping this is not a scam, but the whole Gmail censoring thing just made it all worse in my head, and their website just went from "probably legit" to "Nigeria chain letter scam" threat level :(

EDIT: just saw your post:

They are the only site selling the "Official" OST, and they were supposed to send a physical copy of it with 4 CDs signed by the original composer, no one else is selling this package as far as I know, and as mentioned, I found their link in the official Skyrim website, that seemed legit enough to me, but I'm starting to think my logic was flawed, if anything I'll hold Bethesda liable for my loss for linking to a scam website.

As I said, I'm really hoping I'm wrong on this and was kinda hoping any of you guys had better luck ordering from them, I want to believe this is not a scam :(

The graphics aren't that great, in fact the more I play it, the more I find it similar to Oblivion (Skyrim is running on a heavily modified version of the Gamebryo engine after all) but to me the immersion is what really matters, the biggest improvement to me compared to Oblivion is the vastly improved LOD at a distance and the fact that characters don't look like they were made out of wax anymore :p

Of course, this will all improve once user made mods to improve the graphic quality level start showing up, texture mods are still being released for Morrowind after all :)

he's talking about the soundtrack, not the game. and as he said, it was linked to BY Bethesda!

I hope its real. That sounds like a very unique edition.

Maybe they couldn't find a marker to write on the disks with.
