News Section Feedback Goes Here

Right, as I promised to Wile E, I've just written my first article with the analysis - what you lot like to cheapen down to mere 'opinion' which it is not - separated from the main story, so let's have your feedback. ;)

Personally I like the short and sweet approach. You know......"Just the facts mam."

(Showed my age there)
Are you aware that you just replied to a post that's over 3 years old?

That's actually exactly why I'm poking my nose into this thread. I wanted to say that I think you nailed it. :toast:

You're not the only one who knows how to resurrect.

Feedback: Don't be an asshat by insulting a "lot" of the forum readers with this sarcastic post just so you can feel elevated and get the last word in because you aren't getting your way.... Nice article btw :toast:

I just love the way you attack me and then give me a nice complement - that's so you. You know how to crack me up. :toast:

Frick is rubbing me off, wait rubbing off on me?... I think I have a crush either way. ;)

If I had been drinking anything when I read that, it would be all over my monitor right now.

Downright excellent. :)

I don't see why the "analysis" portion has to be segregated to the bottom of the page.

I like the article but it would be better if the "analysis" was integrated at the bottom of each section as follows:

3 Protect against your own forgetfulness

Users shy away from using strong passwords, because they're likely to forget them, especially if they have many to remember. Windows 8 makes it easier to recover from a forgotten password.

3A: USB recovery: passwords are stored in an encrypted USB memory stick that can be used should a password be forgotten.

3B: Reset from another PC: you can reset your password from any PC using Windows Live.

3C: Two factor authentication: you can prove that you're the rightful owner of an account by linking it to a mobile phone or email address

Opinion: 3B: Reset from another PC: again, how secure is that other PC and the environment it's situated in? Use with caution.

The reason to integrate the info is so that the reader does not have to scroll to bring the ideas and thoughts together from some other part of the page, flaws or concerns are pointed out as you go. Facts and opinions remain separate.

an analysis of something assumes one has an educated opinion on the subject. Some subjects ...analysed... are strictly opion which is what most people want left out or in a second post. I want dan rathers opinion. I want jon stewarts opinion as they are educated on the subject matter they cover. I dont want a greenhorns take on everything posted.

Im glad you saw the light and made it a seperate post.

"Greenhorn" and "I've seen the light", huh? Jeez you're patronizing. It's not a separate post, either.

Remember it's only a trial and which style I choose for any particular article is at my discretion.

I just want to say thank-you.

What people dont see / are unaware of is the time that you put into this.

When i did the news for pimprig/pcapex i would spend 3 to 4 hours a day!

WOW, way to get what you want is to insult....yea that will work.:banghead:

Don't pass GO, don't collect $200, go directly to CHARM SCHOOL.

You're welcome. :toast:

Yeah, at least some people certainly have no appreciation of what goes into writing an article. I can certainly spend 3 to 4 hours finding and writing up articles, especially at the weekend, when I may have some free time. It's also a surprsingly compelling hobby.

I quite agree and is why I initially weaved it in and it makes for a more dynamic and punchy read. Personally, I wouldn't change it. However, the new format seems to have gone down well and it seems that people prefer to have the bland separated from the spice, lol. Or eating your plain spaghetti all on its own and once it's finished, you eat up all the souce. Integrated is better, isn't it? ;) Anyway, the style I choose isn't hard and fast and artistic licence allows me considerable flexibility in how I write my articles, so you'll see both.

And I'll be bitching about it if I can be bothered.

Keep up the great work! You've stepped it up a lot recently and I'm liking how much more is covered as well as having something to read on weekends.

Liking the new news-posters too, originally thought MM announcement was a troll but seems legit (pleasantly suprised) Qubit's also stepped it up a few notches, so kudos :toast:

Segregated is WAAAAYYYYYYYYYY better. That was actually enjoyable for me to read.

Are you talking about the HP printer article I just put up?

My, and perhaps other reader's issue with that is then we have to weed out fact from opinion. Now, that's fine for an editorial obviously, but when it comes to straight up news reporting I feel that separating them is MUCH better. Like others have said, your windows 8 password security article was very well done! :rockout:

Win 8 security. Just forgot to comment about it earlier.
