OFFICIAL Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim (Discussion)

It does look good. I just can't stand depth of field.

Finally, made my skyrim look even better. Tweaked my Superl3 ENB settings + RCRN 2.1 + realistic lighting imho near photo realistic quality without much performance hit. I like my nights and dungeons dark to give it a sense of foreboding and to bring back the use of lighting spells and torches to the gameplay. Here are some pics that really caught my eye.

Can you post a guide?

Agreed. Sometimes it gets too distracting but nevertheless brings a sense of realism to the image (well it seems to make the viewer nearsighted). I'll post an even improved screenshots with additional tweaking using "The Imaginator" mod. This ones really versatile for final image correction on the fly. I might post my settings and the whole shebang thrown in for good measure. hehe. I'm still tweaking for better image quality but I gotta say, performance is really good for an ENB. At 1st I was using ugrids=7 then reverted back to ugrids=5 due to certain anomalies regarding distant terrain and also performance. It really is a good compromise because now it plays like butter and the DOF helps mask the terrain beyond.

I think the DoF adds some realism (similar to normal human vision when focusing on something close). It does seem that some things appear a lot more shiny than they should in certain instances. Like they are wet.

About the only issue I'm still having with mine, is flickering around water. I'm not running XF, which was the common issue... REALLY don't want to reinstall again. Any thoughts on flickering?

Thats awesome!!!!!

But when a dragon dies in a few hits with a enchanted glass war hammer after I use a enchanted bow with poison and a potion of fire/frost resist auto mode seems like a waste of time and fun.

I am enjoying bitch slapping the shit out of anything with a undead/stamina draining combo. Now if only my followers were smart enough to make use of the potions/magic I give them other than in the staffs.

Isn't this coming from the same person who said they like to feel like a badass and solo everything in games? Rather than have something so difficult it takes great coordination from multiple people to defeat.

Either way, just up the difficulty beyond the game settings. Theres mods that make Dragons one shot you almost every time if you don't block. And I mean honestly, you should almost have to dodge that, thats like saying you could stand you ground and block a full size pickup coming at you. Also other damage mods that make most things one shot people, because lets me be honest getting cleaved with a broad sword or shot with an arrow is basically death in one blow. And that counts for you, my friend plays with that type of setup and sticks heavily to stealth and tries to dodge all shots (or block as a last ditch effort). Makes it more challenging and real. Thats why we play our games on PC, to tweak them how we want, this game has so many mods, if you find it too easy or unrealistic, then change it.

I guess I'm still just not used to games looking that way and I haven't gotten accustomed to it (yet).

Ive never used a shield. Or blocked for that matter. Onehanded dual wielding sweetness all the way. If I can't make it dead that way then I fireball it. Dual of course.

When it gets really dark I have candlelight in one hand.

What, real? Thats what game devs have been striving to reach since the beginning of games.

Edit: @Ahhzz: Lol, I just saw your system specs; look at my computer name.

the DoF thats in the ENB series stuff is Bokeh which is a performance hog. Don't deny it its a fact. If you guys want DoF with no performance hit. Check out Dynavision on nexus. Gopher is currently redoing it completely so it should be really nice next update.

And if you want good lighting mod with no performance hit. RCRN and ENB are both performance hogs. I used to use them till i discovered Realistic Lighting. I also have my very own config released on nexus. I will be updating mine soon.

The new beta are really nice. Sydney666 has done a really good job

I love all you guys (and gals). Even Frick who hates everything Elder Scrolls. :D

On Topic : If you are pulling the betas and working on mods, don't save your mod through the CK if you are including the update.esm file from the 1.5 beta update until they update the CK as it could cause mod corruption.

i had one of the early crossfire fixes in a .dll file, and that caused the issues for me. make sure you remove any such files/mods.

I for one agree with the fact that the Bokeh DOF included with Superl3 ENB has its performance
hit nonetheless its still superior to dynavision's DOF. I use RCRN 2.1 but has its lighting esp overrided by realistic lighting so the end result looks way better than either one by itself. All in all, each mod compliments the other especially in conjunction with the "The Imaginator mod". If you look at the top right of the screenshots that I provided, the fps hit isn't quite drastic (I'm using an HD7970 btw). I'll attach my enb settings and other necessary files at a later date because I still think there's more room for improvement.:) FPS wise I'm hitting 35-65fps outdoors depending on location (limited it using MSI afterburner because I don't like V-sync and ENB's limiter for that matter) while indoors its constant 65fps. I tried using 60 for the limiter but somehow screen tearing was more prevalent.:shadedshu ENB's SSAO feature for me is superior given it's tweakable nature (I have an AMD card so no built-in AO for me). Given that my system is weak in some regards excluding the GPU, I'm still satisfied with performance I get using the said mods.

Looking forward to it. :toast:

Take your time, I'll be busy with the Mass Effect franchise for a while before I get back into this

I basically did the samething when I played, Orc using 2 Handed weapon, use my Racial Trait and 1 shot just about anything. But I was just mentioning modding the game to be more difficult and require blocks if people find it too boring and easy.

Same goes here. I'm also playing Mass Effect 3 with Mr. Clamchowder's ENB config (more cinematic). Still a shame there's no SSAO only color correction but still looks good. I play skyrim and Mass effect 3 alternately but for skyrim I'm enjoying it more by tweaking it.:) For "the Jesus", due to your incessant nagging :) hehe, here's my config. Whoever wants to try it be my guest but of course read first the readme file.

Incessant nagging? I just told you to take your time lol. Thanks though, I've saved it :)

Hehe. If Jesus tells me do something I certainly am going to follow:). Hopefully it works out for you.

Hey friends, If I already took the "Missing In Action" quest from Gray-Manes, can I still side with battle-born in the future? cuz I think I regret it lol

Kinda harsh language in some points, don't you think?

idk ive used multiple ENB series(like 14 different ones) and RCRN and performance sucks, and it looks like shit.

That doesn't seem to be the case for me. I reiterated in my previous post that my tweaked realistic lighting overrides the RCRN esp so the end result uses the realistic lighting presets. I used RCRN for its post process (not its lighting preset) in conjunction with ENB. If you look at the images I posted, that my friend does not look like RCRN. As for performance, its a given fact that ENB with SSAO definitely has its performance hit but as long you have a powerful GPU you can offset it. Look at the FPS counter in the pics I posted. Its beyond playable. These mods require certain tweaks to make it look the way you want it. By default, they don't look too good depending on the person looking at it. Beauty is subjective. One might like it while the other one might not.
