OFFICIAL Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim (Discussion)

The first mod I downloaded for Skyrim was the one that let you kill children.

I hate having invulnerable NPCs, especially when they are cheeky little bastards. Also downloaded the killable children mod for Fallout.

Nice sounds like a potential teacher in the making. :nutkick:

Has anyone purchased Hearthfire yet?

nope with the house mod i find the DLC worthless honestly

Yeah, and I think with house mods out there, there are better houses then what you can make with hearthfire. However, with Hearth fire if you dont have much to do in skyrim anymore it would be fun to go around getting supplies and stuff and building your own dovahkiin home, without doing it through modding tools.

This is why I just bought it.

Backed up my pre-Hearthfire saves just incase the DLC adds more bugs to the game though.
I know the DLC conflicts with a few mods out there including the Unofficial Skyrim Patch which is now in BETA for HeathFire DLC.

I have a maximum of 10 esm mods so I don't think I will be running into many problems.

There have been threads made on various forums about a major bug in HearthFire related to working on more than one blueprint at a time which can be avoided.

I didn't want the last DLC till the price is super cheap but I admit this one appeals to me. I'll be buying it next I play Skyrim. But in the mean time I have other games to get through.

I missed the sales on dawnguard. Honestly i have no interest in hearthfire though. I dont see 5 dollars worth of content; and not 20 in dawnguard. But its still interesting. Ill be watching for deals.

Does anyone else wander what bethesda is gonna do for tes VI?

I just started playing skyrim again! Got Skyrim on an SSD and got all my mods installed, and a few more. Irony, What ENB are you using these days?

And with HearthFire comes more bugs.
You may not get to build a home in certain holds which are available with this new DLC.

After getting the DLC it appears Hearthfire was already in the works while Dawnguard was due to the unavailability of an area in Breezehome which can be replaced with Hearthfire DLC content.

So far Hearthfire is there to extend gameplay from what I have experienced over anything else.

I became the responsible parent and the first thing I gave my adopted child was a Skyforge dagger.

Some one on the nexus has started an unofficial hearth fire patch to fix all the bugs you might want to try it out see if it fixes anything for you .... you can get it here http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/25127

The intel 180 ssd?

I'm using True vision ENB and climates of tamriel. I'm open to suggestion to a better one though.

So this go round, are you gonna actually be playing the game? or just modding your ENB for weeks on end, lol.

:D

*longexasperatedsigh* I saw that video a couple days ago; it's permanently burned in my mind.

FARRRRRRRRRKKKKKKKK I hate that song but that vid made me ROFL

Sky rim is like my most favorite game ever, but it all went up poop creek after installing dawngaurd. Thing's got my bugs than swamp. Constantly freezes and crashes. Gotta save often or you'll be crying later

i bought the hearthfire add-on but have not had a chance to buy land and build a home from scratch. has anyone done that yet?

Yeah, I own all three houses and almost completely upgraded them (all its missing is a few shrines and mounted animal heads).

Also...
-If you collect lots of books, the library is awesome.
-Trophy Room is cool but to build statues requires some potentially rare goods. Worth it though.
-Garden is awesome if you do a lot with alchemy. You can plant some plants in there to make some resources more readily available.
-Bedroom is required if you want children to stay in the house. If you have a wife, she also stays in there. Bedroom and Garden occupy the same space so you can only build one or the other on any given house.
-"Armory" is deceptive. It doesn't have a blacksmiths forge or anything like that. The only true highlight of it is that it has 5 maniquins to display armor on. Thing is, two of the maniquins I used have glitched so even after changing what they show, they keep reverting back to an older state. It's effectively a duplication bug.
-Enchanters is kind of silly because a fully upgraded Main Hall has an enchantment table (second floor).
-Alchemy is kind of silly because a fully upgraded Main Hall has an alchemy table.
-Kitchen is worthless because a fully upgraded Main Hall as a Kitchen. The only unique thing it adds is the oven which grants access to 12 new receipes (at least I think they are new). Certainly not important/overly useful.
-Storage is worthless because a fully upgraded Main Hall and Entryway has copious amounts of storage containers.
-Cellar (available under all Main Halls) can have a fully functioning blacksmiths shop. It also can have a shrine table with a shrine to each of the Nine Divines (expensive, but worth it). Sometimes the cellar gets overrun with skeevers.

Tips...
-I went crazy with collecting clay and stone (over 500 of each) and discovered I didn't actually use all that much. I'd only mine maybe 20-50 at a time and don't bother getting more than that. It doesn't grab much when trying to sell it so an excess is mostly a bad thing.
-I recommend buying all the iron you see. I'd estimate 1000-2000 iron bars when all is said and done.
-The Falkreath house seemd to be the least glitchy but it still imperfect. I've had a Giant spawn in the cow pen twice. I've also had 3-4 bandits spawn in that area too at least three times. It seems like there is a random spawn trigger location right there and that's a bad thing. On the other hand, I don't think I've had any random encounters like that at the Dawnstar house.
-You'll need some Steel for safes. I think, specifically, you'll need in excess of 30 bars just to build all the safes in the cellar.
-To make the shrines to the nine divines, each requires an amulet to the said divine as well as some other materials which varies for each.
-Don't upgrade the Entry at all until the Main Hall is installed and you buy (free) the upgrade to make the Entry Way part of the Main Hall. The floor plan changes when you do this and a lot of what you build will be removed. Kind of wasteful.

what do you mean you own all three houses? so there are 3 locations that i can build on using the paid add-on?

did you have to travel to one of the spots? is it expensive to purchase supplied to build the house?

Hey, can anyone help with my vampire? My guy turned into a vampire yet he wont bite anyone. Now all the NPC's freak out and attack me all the time. WTF? Why doesn't he bite?!?!!

I gave both of my kids about 3 wooden swords each. I'm tempted to give them both a Dragonbone Dagger (Legendary) though (same thing I carry). Not much point though because if there is a hostile, they just cower. XD

I had two crashes I think but didn't lose much thanks to the Autosave and my obessive use of Quicksave.

The thing I really didn't like about Dawnguard is how it felt like it was on rails. For example, you can't kill Serena when you find her. Being a Dawnguard, it would make sense to do so. I do like the addition of the crossbow though and the variety in the "How can I help?" side missions (I won't spoil it).

Yes. One is tied to the thaneship of Morthal, one to Dawnstar, and one to Falkreth. The Falkreth property is about midway between Falkreth and White Run. The Dawnstar property is about midway between Dawnstar and White Run. The Morthal property is close to the ocean north of Morthal.

You can but it won't do any good. Talk to Jarl/Steward of those three holds. If you haven't done their quests yet, you'll need to. Then you'll have to "assist" 3 people from each town and finally, they'll make you than and grant you a housecarl. Mind you, each location has nothing to do with the other location. This is generally how it works at each location though.

The lot itself costs 5000 gold (when you pay it, an objective is added telling you where to go and what to do initially). All I really bought after that was copious amounts of iron. Money was never really an issue for me because I now have almost 400,000 gold and a chest full of gems I never bothered selling. XD

You mean feed? I avoided vampirism in Skyrim so I can't really help.
