Keyboard Corsair Vengeance K70 Cherry MX Red
Software Windows 10
Using a cheap keyboard and mouse since forever and I'm looking into buying my first gaming mouse and KB.

Budget is around $200 and after looking into many reviews and sites I am leaning towards the Corsair K70 Cherry MX Red and Corsair M65 as my first choices.

I play all types of games, but I mainly play FPS games like BF4 and Counter Strike. I picked the K70 because by the first look it looks very durable and the design is simplistic, it has backlight which is useful at night and I don't need any extra keys other KBs has. I picked the M65 because I currently use a mouse that is similar to the Razer Orochi which is small(my hands are very small and below average), I use the fingertip-claw grip for now and the M65 looks durable too, Although I don't know much about how it handles FPS games.

My second choices are Razer Blackwidow and Deathadder , but they look plastic and I've heard the software that go along with it is not great

Anyone that has used any of these? what about other models?

Used CM Storm QF Pro keyboard for a while, its pretty good for its money. Its only half backlighted though, so you might need to reconsider. Avoid Razer, their Synapse 2.0 is a disaster. My Steelseries Sensei RAW is currently serving its job pretty well, I can recommend that too. It depends on your grip preference though. There is always the logitech G series.

Mice ooh bad subject if razer or SS they both seem to fail on me before or after their warranty's. So were mice are concerned and you use your right hand for the mouse opt for Logitech at least then you have a 3 year warranty. And razer with a 2 year warranty how ever their is the software they use which can actually be put in offline mode ( although i have seen it connect still for a second then it don't for a week or so).

My SS SENSEI which was a replacement of the SS ZAI has started the same issue that they all do on me and that's double clicking but this time i was able to get rid of most of it by taking it apart and getting some isopropyl on the switch to clean it as much as i could. Which is down to wear and tear as it's always the plastic that needs to be removed.

I had seen a Corsairs K90 in the shop and it was totally sweet but if you need the whole keyboard programmable you options drop a lot and this is the reason i did not get one.

If not the Corsair Keyboards are sweet. Try take notice how steep the keyboard keys are to as this may be a issue.

OOh the Blackwidow which is the one i just replaced with ROCCATS MK PRO although more than you want to spend and requirements. Anyways i RMA'ed the Blackwidow with in a year as the keyboard started to spam letters or not even type any which the replacement started the same shit too.

Just get any of the mechanical keyboards with the keys you like. For FPS games you want a mouse with the Avago ADNS-3090 for optimal performance. There are plenty of those around just get one you think has the right amount of buttons and made for claw-grip.

I have the M65 and K70. I can tell you that you wont be disappointed, especially the keyboard is REALLY awesome. The mouse is really good but a Logitech mouse is equally ok. You won't really need the super high DPI if you play fps games but the software is good and you can configure it well (also you can upload the profile to the mouse and then delete the software). Because you are specifying that you want a small-medium mouse, I can tell you that its indeed a below-average sized one.

My favorite gaming mouse of all time is the Logitech G500. I can heartily recommend it. Countoured, varying weights, smooth clicks, multi-button, very strong cord (yet still flexible), and extremely accurate. It probably would be a problem if you are left-handed though.

Mice are a very personal decision, I have a Razer DeathAdder and it's pretty solid (the software is fine). I also have a Fnatic Sensei (Steelseries) which has been decent so far, but the engine is very slow (worse than the Razer software for sure). The best mouse I've ever owned was probably a Logitech MX518, unfortunately they are discontinued. I have no experience with the Corsair so can't offer an opinion there, it's really kinda trial and error, look at reviews and try some out.

As for keyboards, pretty much all the mechanical ones with Cherry Switches are going to be fine. It really comes down to what features you want, do you want LED backlight, programmable macros, customizable keycaps, etc. The much harder decision is which switches to get. For gaming black and red are both solid choices depending on how hard you want to have to press the keys, for typing/gaming brown are pretty solid as well. I've debated brown or red for a while and think I'm going to go with red when I order mine.

A few brands to look at: WASD, Ducky, Rosewill, Das Keyboard.

The direct successor to that awesome MX518 is the G400s. It is completely the same except more accurate and a different paint job. I played side by side with my old 518, and the 400s is indeed a very worth successor!

I have the Logitech G300 Gaming mouse and G105 Gaming Keyboard. They are cheap and do their job just fine and look cool too! You could go for a mechanical keyboard if you have the budget. In that case I will recommend the CM Storm Quickfire Ultimate. It has mechanical switches (Cherry MX) and great back lighting. But of course you are free to spend a lot more if you really like the looks of any other kb/mouse.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I finally bought something and It was Corsair K70 Cherry MX Red Blue LED, Madcatz Cyborg R.A.T. 5 Black and Razer Goliathus Standard as mousepad, I was gonna get the Corsair M65 but it's out of stock and I saw the RAT 5.

So far It's a great combination, It feels comfortable but I'm still getting used to it overall, Cost me around $230 total.

I had the CM Storm Quickfire Ultimate and G500s as 2nd options in case those three were out of stock

How is the Corsair K70? I really like the clean look of it but have two worries: durability and do the keys rock side-to-side [the outer keys].

I think it's very durable, the whole body is made of aluminum and I can't even bend it or twist it in anyway like my old keyboard to test for some plastic cracking. It's alot heavier too. I don't know exactly what you meant by "keys rock side-to-side" but I'll say this.

the keys are not side to side with each other, there's little gaps between each keys and they're slightly higher than most keyboards, which makes interesting light effects because the lighting spreads to the whole keyboard floor itself not just the keys. The keys do shake a bit when you try to move them in other directions aside from pushing it down but so do other keyboards. the version I bought, Cherry Red MX keys, are very easy to push and response time is great, despite the softness of the buttons however you can still rest your hands on it, If you have heavy hands you might accidentally push buttons though.

Thanks for your thoughts. I own a Ducky Shine II w/ brown cherry mx and love it but would like a TKL version so the Corsair K65 caught my eye with its elevated keys. My concern is a key snapping or bending at the stem of the switch but I guess I can't be overly concerned - its meant to be used.

I hope they come in other switches than red.

Claw grip, palm grip, etc. If you are careful with your mouse you can consider supposedly fragile mice like Steelseries ones.

Claw grip, palm grip, etc. If you are careful with your mouse you can consider supposedly fragile mice like Steelseries ones.

I think claw grip.
Is the CM inferno regular sized?

Went from a K90 to a K70 a few weeks ago - Both top quality keyboards, Unfortunately I dont really like the MX Reds that were on the K90 to thats one of the reasons why I stepped down to a K70 (if it cant be classed as stepping down) Im lovin these MX Browns,

gaming mice wise - either the Logitech G400 or G500 gets my vote. G400 is optical though so that might be a small issue. if you need the extra tracking and fidelity that a laser mouse gives then the G500 is definitely the one to pick. Size wise its very comfortable for medium/large hands using the palm grip, and it uses the same laser engine as the more expensive G9x so apart from the difference in shape - youre not losing a lot of functionality.

Id be weary of the G500S for the time being - Logitech have started using a new laser engine and it seems to be having some teething issues.
