OFFICIAL No Man's Sky (Discussion)

I haven't had time to play with any mods yet but I've been looking at a few of them. Going on vacation this Saturday through half of next week....so no gaming for me.

I was led to believe that one of the things they did in the patch was fix it internally? or plan on fixing- I may have imagined it tho. I know it has been brought up quite a bit. As for playing it. I have crossed 41 hours already and just got to my 3rd system so I have been pretty thorough with my travels thus far.

There's no mention about fixing rendering resolution in the experimental patch notes : http://steamcommunity.com/app/275850/discussions/7/360672383121166985/
But maybe there's a plan about fixing it internally, I don't know about that.

Oh GOG just updated the game, don't know if this the same experimental update or the finished first patch, will download and test it later.

Yeah it's the "same patch" I was on the experimental and flipped back, nothing changed at all. I was actually a bit puzzled as to why nothing downloaded.

Yeah just like all the fallout games, and Elder Scroll games and any other number of fantastic single player games out there. :)
Looks like mailman called it. Game sucks and is dying.

Ok here are my results from the latest 2 patches.

All test done at same location and settings.

Pictures are in Spoiler just to save on scrolling space!
Also Alt + Tab works 100% for me.

EDIT: I have noticed that you go around +2-3 FPS above what you set it in settings now. I have set to 60 NO V-Sync and I go to 63FPS. Off to go mow for the next 6 hours.

----->>> Results
Settings:

First Test Orignal Game and AMD Driver 16.8.1:

Secound Test Updated AMD Driver 16.8.2:

Both latest patches:

capture2037.jpg

Same as above but, changed fps limit from 45 to 160. The big drops come when opening my inventory so not a big deal don't need loads of fps there.

capture2043.jpg

Now with these settings, to find max detail/fps

capture2042.jpg

Results: FPS when it goes to the lowest talking to trader and looking out into the universe, High fps when looking at wall's and ground. average is more around 54ish.

EDIT: Dog fighting in space not bad.

'Game is dying'

It's a sad world when people actively monitor /played stats on Steam to reinforce their own ideas. I would like to refer to my previous comment on the 'storm' surrounding what was promised in 2014 trailer material.

Get a life.

Meanwhile, in the real world, I'm still playing this game and having a lot of fun with it.

Its cool to see one of the 100 people still playing this garbage money grab.

It's not cool seeing people troll threads that are obviously there for people who play the game in question, with 'game is dying' one liners and zero real contribution.

It's also not cool to lower TPU to the level of random Reddit whine posts.

Think on that a bit.

I normally don't get involved with this sort of thing but the truth is, there is no reason for some of you to keep popping in here. We all know how you feel about the game at this point. Those of us enjoying the game really don't care. It seems to me that it is not adding anything productive to the thread any longer. Yes the game has issues, people hate it, etc ...we get it. Now let us that do like the game chat about it without all the bickering.

Is this too much to ask for?

Great mod : http://nomansskymods.com/mods/internal-resolution-multipliers-pak/

You can change the game renderer to match your native resolution so there will be no upscaling (use the 1.0X file or the hardcoded file matching the intended resolution). I use the 1.25X and the game does look better, no blurry images because lower rendering resolution.

And now that I have found this video....

....I can stop playing this grinding paradise :D
Thanks mate, definitely makes everything look much better. It hurts fps though, can't use higher than x1.5 upscaling.

Anyways, I'm loving this game. Just got an 8 slot multi tool on my 2nd planet and salvaged a ship with 2 more slots then my starter ship

This is a discussion thread, not a circle jerk thread. If people are saying untrue things or bashing (REAYTH's post) without sources or facts (praising blindly is just as bad but) then that's a different story; but just because someone has issues with the game doesn't mean they can't post their thoughts in the thread as well.

Interesting article on the guy who made the big post on Reddit about the what developers promised/mentioned and left out of the game: http://www.vice.com/read/inside-the-nasty-no-mans-sky-backlash

That's the environment I'm looking for to be honest. The current tone of voice with regards to 'what is in it' and what should be, just isn't the right approach. And people also applied that approach to Sean's comments on multiplayer - and the internet copy pasted that unto infinity so then it must be in there. If that is the level of discussion with the masses, then I'm not one of them and I would dread seeing that attitude on these forums. On the other hand, I don't like circle jerks either.

We're still lacking a real roadmap with regards to what patches will bring in terms of features, yet everyone seems to think this vanilla NMS release 'was all she wrote'. I don't get that. We've seen countless games get a LOT better post release, hell, it's even business as usual to fix the game post release. Then, if you look at what's there at this time, and put that in the perspective of how fast the devs are responding with their patches, I'm having good hopes for post release support. And it's true that the level of polish with regards to even these patches, could be better, (yesterday night they pushed a patch that created a CTD upon entering the Galaxy Map, only to fix it no less than an hour later) but the intent of wanting a well running game is very clear to me. FWIW, NMS has been running quite fine over here since day one, given a quick look in the video options and adapting some of them - which to me is also business as usual, and surpasses the release quality of more than a few *real* triple A releases.

I don't see a developer 'not giving a F' about its customers, I see a dedicated one that is pushed into a release schedule (and business environment, too - you can bet that Sony has had a serious impact on the dev process) that the game and the developer may not have been ready for.

As always, the devil is in the details.

Yeah it's the same on the Community Hub, just a total cesspool and defies logic..Can't even make a positive thread without it being crapped on with "the video" that I now consider a Meme....

All I'm saying is Mailman called it.

Where you finding Better multi tools? I'm in game like 10h and havent found any :( walking around with shitty starter tool of 5 slots or whatever :(

I've been using that mod and you want to make sure to check your GPU temps. Card gets hot when you up the res. I have a feeling that's why it's running at 720p. This game needs 6 months+ more development for PC.

I was looking at that mod. Think I may as well skip it for now as I do not want to be watching my temps. Looking at that mod though...it really looks to make the game visually better.

i just found it at an outpost :D

Yeah if you go to the different outposts you will find a device on the wall of each one with a new multitool. You can compare yours to it and if wanted purchase it. Some conversations can lead to free multitools as well as some choices at crashed ships can provide a tool as well.

I bought the one I have now which is around 13 slots or something.

Good to know!

1.25x is the sweet spot for me, FPS never dropped below 50 FPS after the latest patch. And also I can't tell the difference between 1.25x and 2.0x so I won't sweat about it :D

Thanks for the warning.
For now GPU temp still very normal, never goes past 65 C. But it does indeed increase the operating temp a little bit, as without mod my GPU temp stay within 60-63 C.

As mentioned above, the easiest way to upgrade your multi tool is to look at the multi tool wall device on an outpost (alien settlement with a landing pad), helping alien (especially if you're ona Vy'keen's planets), from a crashed ship site, or from a monolith reward.

Regarding multi tool upgrade via outpost device wall, it heavily depends on your alien race/faction. Gek provides no multi tool upgrade , Korvax provide a reasonable amount of multi tool upgrade, and Vy'keen is the best race/faction because they have the multi tool device wall on every single outpost. If you're at Vy'keen's planet, you just need to have a good amount of units and your multi tool will be maxed out to 24 slots in no time.

If you need any help I can try and help. I have 48 Exo-Suit and Ship with 24 Multi-Tool Slots. I did no money or item glitches.

To max out a Tool first need to find a signal beacon(shooting the laser into the air) -> click Transmission(only go to "Beacon") -> this will then lead you to a outpost or advanced life for. Max slots is 24. Make sure to fully dismantle your weapon apon finding a better one so you can save the mat;s for later. If you plan on grinding this then go to the Multi-Tool on the wall click, but don't buy it then go talk to the person inside now go back and the tool will be same slots, but less money now beacue it got rid of a upgrade.
I got 48 Exo-Suit, 21 Ship and 19 Multi-Tool Slots before leaving my starter planet. Got 100% on it.

I have some more upgrades on those now .

That's interesting. Now i know why I'm still with 8 slot multi tool and 18 exo suite :-D I wanted to learn their language before i go but I'm really struggling with 40 slots in total (suite+ship).
