What's this small tube for?

Take a look at this picture. What's the small tube in the reservoir for???

Incase you remove all the system air, the tube keeps a few bubbles for feedback, just shake the bubbles free. Also helps to calm the bubbles.
 
I always thought that was to limit any air/bubbles getting into the loop if you're using the top port for your return.

My reservoir is a pump res combo. The pump is underneath pulling the water into the pump so...

Does that mean the tube would be helpful to me or should I remove it?
 
I could be 100% wrong on its intended use, but if you plan on having coolant enter back into the res from the top port- I'd leave it.
 
I'm trying to figure out which ports are inlets or outlets? Here is where I got the combo (res pump)

And here is the link to the sensor I bought. Honestly I accidentally purchased the sensor. Wasn't intentional, but now that I have it, I'm thinking I might as well use it. I just don't know how to display the temperature this thing reads on a small display unit

and the side with the tube is the inlet

Take a look at this picture. What's the small tube in the reservoir for???
For sucking the air out of the tube which looks like a... well... This is a hardware site. :D
It looks like some inlet for cooling liquid circulation, but I could be wrong.
 
Simply for you to be able to open the top (to fill water or evacuate aire...) while it's being used with a hose attached on top.

You should be able to see it. Let me know which you think is inlet and outlet for the top 2 ports and the bottom 2 ports

Not having searched or looked at any instructions, the common sense answer is that it is the inlet. Why? Imagine you have any air in the res (which normally happens). If the inlet is on the top of the res and the outlet on the bottom (so no air gets sucked into the loop), there will be a small gap between the top / inlet of the res and the coolant level. If there is no tube, the inlet coolant will essentially splash into the coolant in the res and it will cause bubbles (in fact, very small bubbles that will then get sucked into the loop). With the tube, the entering coolant is mixed below the "water line" so no splashing occurs. == profit.

So if I got this right. I would use the top port that has the small tube underneath for inlet and the bottom left most port for outlet?

Or the right one?

I know these must be dumb questions but this is my first water loop and the res pump combo came with zero instructions

I'm sorry, I don't know what it's for. I suggest emailing / calling Dazmode about it and see if they can answer your question.

Well I ended up finding the answer.

Well it's a good thing I'm the kind of guy who always makes sure to understand everything before making my move. If I had just went with instinct I would probably have mixed up the inlets and outlets...

Ah, that's better. Top center hole can be used for topping up the water, the one with the tube can be either used as an inlet or just to get rid of the accumulated air and bubbles in the res, and the ones on the bottom are inlet and outlet. It will all depend on the position of the res in your system. At least you can have options.

(I have zero experience with W/C'ing, unless you count the 6 years I spent in the Navy)
If you used one of the top ports for the return and simply let the liquid fall into reservoir, that would tend to encapsulate air into the liquid. I think the tube is to be used to discharge the return into the reservoir below the level of the liquid, therefore avoiding the aeration of the liquid. The tube needs to be long enough to get below the level of the liquid, but not too long as to basically feed the return right to the pump.
