was it a clean install? If its not I would run DDU and then try again, when I had my 290 I didn't have an issue with any drivers and neither has my buddy who owns the 290 now and my brother is still using my old 280X and that is running crazy good stillIssue still persists with latest driver 17.4.4. Radeon application stopped working crash message what gives?

It's simply the other way around ... less games have issues with nvidia drivers, as a direct consequence of current market condition. Are you somehow implying that the NVIDIA drivers have no issues?! If so you should reconsider that

now ... as i have a Nvidia GPU, i would use the generic answer : "the latest" but since i would not be able resolve issues by trying to reproduce it, i will just stop it there, let the other user that are actually with a Radeon give the recommendations and help and any Nvidia user/fanboy/preacher/zealots should do the same.

Something being a cliche doesn't make it wrong. Also, just because you've had lots of problems with NVIDIA drivers doesn't mean they're problematic generally, as most people don't have so many problems with them. There could easily be an issue with your system that's causing issues, for example.wrong...
