You may be wondering why i am not keeping windows 10 on the notebook, well windows 10 sucks, ok. plain and simple. lol
Except it doesn't. It is just a little different. And since it is human nature for humans to dislike change, many fail to give it chance and/or take the time to learn it. As with every version of Windows in the past that was considerably different than it predecessors, once the user got used to it, the older version became foreign. That said, it really does not take very long at all before W10 seem very intuitive.
The fact of the matter is, it is easy to make W10 look and feel like W7. W10 is more secure and easier keep it secure than any previous version. And of course, W7 is already 9 years old with mainstream support ending over 3 years ago!
And don't fall for all the hype from the Microsoft bashers about privacy. First and foremost, don't confuse privacy and security. They are totally different. Microsoft is NOT trying to learn your real name, street address, passwords, bank accounts, contacts, or other personal information. In fact, it does a better job of protecting that information than any other Windows version. And second, controlling your privacy settings with the latest W10 builds is not hard. If you are concerned about your privacy, you have MUCH MORE to be worried about from your ISP and especially your cell phone carrier. They already know your real name, street address and billing information - not to mention everything you do through their networks.
And of course, you cell phone carrier knows who you texted and called, where you've been, where you are currently standing (including the aisle of the store you are in), the direction you are heading, and how fast you are moving.
And as Jetster correctly noted, getting drivers for "legacy" and unsupported operating systems can be a real challenge with modern hardware - a problem that will continue to get harder and harder.
So give W10 an honest chance. Don't listen to the naysayers. Check it out yourself. If you just cannot (or don't want to) get used to the new W10 UI, That's fine! Check out
Start10. This great little program brings back the familiar W7 Start menu and W7 desktop. It has a free 30-day trial period and if you don't like it, it uninstalls cleanly. But for only $4.99, it is well worth it. Also liked is the free
Classic Shell but understand the developer has stopped working on it.
***********
Just an update, I'm skipping using windows 7. I got everything working perfectly fine, using the classic shell menu and all the drivers are up to date for window 10. Videos at 4k work perfectly fine as well.
Well, after typing the above, you just posted this. Oh well, I think I will leave it for other.
I am glad you got it going and seem to be happy. I think you made a wise choice.
But note what I said about Classic Shell. As I noted above, the developer of Classic Shell has decided to cease development. See:

I would not remove the Windows Store. Just right click on it and unpin. You may need it in the future.
