Have played around +/- 15-20 hours. Graphics ( are good, don't get me wrong, but they could have done it better, I guess the problem was porting from console to pc...) looks weird sometimes when I look at certain objects . Game only once crashed... but it was blue screen of death xD... story is well written and I salute to them that many missions you can complete not by only one option but with few :). But i'm still waiting when they will fix bugs and improve performance!

I've just installed it on my other games machine (work) and when met with the message that the folder must be empty (I copied the game folder from my main PC), I just renamed it by adding a couple of numbers on the end, then let Epic start the install, then stopped it, then deleted the new folder and renamed back my copied folder. This saved having to re-download the whole 112Gb again.
Sneaky, but fun.
Edit
The other Pc is an FX8350/GTX960/16gb RAM and although it's just about playable at 30 fps and below, it gets a little sticky. With everything set to low, it looks awful, but credit to Rockstar for not making it impossible to play, as Ubisoft did with their anti-cheat, anything Phenom and below bullcrap.
Here's the FX benchmark

On the other hand, the Ryzen PC is a tad better.

That's interesting, I wonder if you can do that with steam games even thou it has a backup/install feature.

The Steam library system is very flexible nowadays. Same with Uplay and Origin.

Am I blind, mad, or stupid, or doesn't the Rockstar Games Launcher have a "Minimize on startup" option?

It doesn’t, you’re correct. Just check “Minimize on close” and/or “Hibernate when running a game.”

Anyone noticed gameplay mechanics are tied to the framerate?

Techspot said:
According to Reddit user Jimmyoneshot, Red Dead Redemption 2's PC port also ties certain aspects of gameplay to player framerates. After what appears to be some pretty thorough testing, Jimmyoneshot found that in-game protagonist Arthur Morgan's Health and Stamina meters, as well as his weight, are drastically affected by the game's FPS.

If you run the game at 30 FPS, everything will be normal. You will lose weight just as you would in RDR2's console versions. However, if you run the game at 60 FPS, Core drain speed and weight loss will be twice as fast, meaning you'll need to eat 2x as much food as you normally would to keep things steady. At 120 FPS, your stat drain speed is reportedly quadrupled, and so on.

If that wasn't bad enough, Jimmyoneshot's fellow redditors have reported other FPS-related issues as well. While there don't seem to be any major, game-breaking physics bugs at high framerates, RDR2's mostly-cosmetic weather and day/night cycles are affected. Some users say heavy storms will roll in and out in as little as 30 seconds, which certainly isn't intentional behavior (I've played the game on console myself, and adverse weather usually lasts much longer than that).

I run at around 90 and not really, never played the console version so it's not super noticeable. It's not like fallout where a zombie takes you out in .5 seconds as you enter the underground.

That's a bit creepy and I'm still trying to get my head around how the physics of that actually works. It's a kind of performance punishment.

It was a big problem in San Andreas.

I think I may hold off any further gameplay while I await a possible patch. That’s inexcusable and can really affect gameplay.

My FPS fluctuates between 50 and 72, depending on the scene, so I'll keep an eye on Arthur's well being.

Other than some saves not loading when I was in The Heartlands, I haven't had any other real big problems. So I am still enjoying the story, I am on Chapter 3 now. I have avoided saving in that area. Haven't seen anyone else ever mention that issue. I think I have had less problems than most but still, it hasn't been bug free considering how irritating it was to not have my saves load in addition to waiting 5 minutes per iteration of attempting to load it because of the intro screen, menu screens, etc being set up to be as friction generating as possible. Essentially, when I loaded saves in that area, it was supposed to do some cute cinematic effect of having the screen be cloudy then focus in on Morgan as he sits on a windswept bluff. But instead, it would just hang with the screen blurred, still outputting sound as if the game was functioning, and then crash to desktop if alt-tabbed.

As my videocard is a bit low powered for this game, I am pretty much stuck around 60FPS so this shouldn't impact me as hard as the 120FPS monster rigs. Arthur is always underweight and it takes a lot of food and sleeping to get him to normal weight though, I just ignore it, its not as if the game is difficult.

The latest patch must have fixed some DX12 issues because it finally works for me in DX12.
I also managed to stop the mouse cursor from showing in-game after reading a Reddit post: go to the Epic Games folder launcher>portal>extras>overlay and the move the following files to a backup folder:
EOSOverlayRenderer-Win64-Shipping;
EOSOverlayRenderer-Win32-Shipping;
EOSOVH-Win32-Shipping.dll;
EOSOVH-Win64-Shipping.dll
That fixed it for me.

Still weird stuff happening for me. Two days ago I played with Vulkan. Then that suddenly crashed when I loaded the game again yesterday. So I switched to DX12. Everything fine....until today when I loaded up the game again. My framerate had tanked (around 48 fps). I had a look in the menu and sure enough, all my graphics settings were set to Ultra for no good reason whatsoever. Grrrrrr!

Redoing them now, and this time I'm saving a backup of the system.xml (and also KeyMappings just for good measure). Double-grrrrrrr!

They keep resetting my gfx settings as well... super annoying.

Also the controls are really squishy. Most of my deaths have more to do with control issues than actual game-play decisions

PCGamer is also complaining about it. Let's hope Rockstar listens.

EDIT:
If I'm understanding things correctly then it looks like the patch update yesterday was to address both stuttering and the side effects of running at higher refresh rates.

But to make it work (or at least to get rid of that stuttering) it seems you have to install the latest 441.34 driver and remove any launch parameters you may have.

(I tried to make a new post about this, so that people would be notified, but it was automatically merged with my last post).

Still stutters for me but its less often. Had a few frame rate stutter and hang ups in Saint Denis and the riverboat.

They keep resetting my gfx settings as well... super annoying.

Also the controls are really squishy. Most of my deaths have more to do with control issues than actual game-play decisions

I think the input latency has to do with the animation system this game has.... I don't think it can be fixed unless there was an option to downgrade the animations.

I agree the setting being reset after every patch is annoying but I have them all in notepad for both my systems

There are just too many damn key assignments in this game (I never thought I would complain about that :roll:).

Jokes aside, are any of you guys using some smart key assignment wizardry? I think I will use Voice Attack and assign some macros there. For example when I say "glasses" it holds TAB, presses R, and moves the mouse a little bit to the right to select the binoculars.

Main reason is that I use a Logitech G13 to play, and I don't want to have to move my hands over to the full size keyboard just to select stuff.

(the real main reason is that I'm lazy)

I got to Guarma. After I saved and quit, got a BSOD from the desktop less than 1 second after the game closed with error 3B. Never had any BSODs, zero, on this machine in the nearly 2 years I have operated it, beyond some day 1 build benchmarking, that was until I installed and played this game. The driver identified in the minidump is the ntoskrnl.exe. The previous BSOD was on 11/12/19 after updating to latest nvidia driver 441.20 from 441.12 and launching RDR2, gave me a fault with nvlddmkm.sys, at that point I rolled back to 441.12.

Anyone else still having regular crashes? I've had CTDs every time I have played the last week.
