Hi I’ve been having some trouble booting up my pc, when I switch on the power supply in the back it fully turns on my pc, it’s weird because normally I would have to switch it on and then use the power button on my case, anyway when I switch it on all my fans turn on but the fans have lights and they don’t turn on for some reason, also using the power button to try and turn it off doesnt work, anybody know what’s going on?. Another thing is I see this red light next to something labeled cpu on the motherboard

my specs are
B450 aorus elite MOBO
Ryzen 5 1600 3.2gh 6 core processor
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1650 super oc
EVGA 600w psu
2 sticks ddr4 3200 ram

So one thing you can try is remove the the power lead, open it up, take the coin battery out, after 19 minutes put it back in.
And retry it, is the pc pre built? Did you build it?.

The battery might be under the GPU, you may have to take the GPU out, a few screws hold it in and a release tab where the card meets the motherboard , top right of it's connector.

Also my keyboard and mouse don’t work on other computers either

I built it myself

Is this the coin battery?, I’m new to pc building so I’m not sure yet how to locate things

Weird, but one issue at a time, yes the coin battery, were trying to clear the bios.

If you built it get the manual for the motherboard out , have it nearby for reference for a bit.
It will help with explaining as it can be referenced to.

So we're clear is this situation new on what was a working build or is this from first booting up ever?.

New problem, I built it a few weeks ago and it was working I just wanted to light up the inside but when I plugged in the light strip I heard a pop and saw smoke come from the 24 pin power connector

Sorry, that might have been useful information if I said it before

Just put back in the coin battery, still doing the same thing, anything else I should try?

Is the lightstrip still plugged in, unplug it and take a photo before and after of where it's plugged in.
Obviously while unplugged from the mains.

The light strip is not plugged in anymore
It doesn't sound good I'm afraid, unless you or a friend has a relatively similar pc and is willing to do extensive effort , swapping out stuff.
Your best off taking it to a shop , they will have test equipment and parts to diagnose with, it sounds like the PSU, motherboard, or processor, all any combination thereof has gone to silicon heaven.

Sorry can't be more positive, I have the exact same issue to fix on a customer PC.

You could try , removing a memory stick , then swapping if that doesn't work but it's failing to boot on CPU by the looks of it, it could be the PSU or motherboard failing on a specific power output but clearly not 5v or some degree of 12V ,but it could be worse, seek pro help.

Pull the 24 pin connector and look for signs of damage or burning.
There seems to be a recurring theme with these boards.

and ya have 2 x spacers that look a little off besides Led2 + nmb-3 that could be touching your mainboard underside!
maybe its just the angle of the pic but be careful.

Make sure you have all the motherboard connectors plugged in correctly, sounds like you're shorting something and that's why your PC powers on after switching on the PSU. Also double check your standoffs.
Check the manual and reassemble.

Mmmm, could be a fryed cpu or m/b or both, if you plugged the rbg strip in the wrong header or the wrong way round, i hope not.
id take the cpu out and the m/b out and see if theres any visable damage look on the bottom of the m/b the could be burnt traces.

Electronics run on smoke. You can tell because once the smoke comes out, they stop working.

Ok, no visible damage or burns on cpu

No visible damage on 24 pin either

looks like you have a 5v- pin missing in the psu 24 pin but i think its a earth, see if its just pulled out, pin 20. looks a bit burnt too.

Didn’t look like any burns here either

I’m thinking it could be my psu because everything else looks fine

if that pin is burnt out on the 24 pin coming from your psu you going to need a new psu but if thats going to fix your rig is yet to be seen. do you have or know anyone to lend you a psu ? i could be wrong looking at my m/b diag its says that pin 20 is NC and that means not connected so im barking up the wrong tree :) sorry im only human. im gonna go sit on the step of shame for a hour :) .

Front panel connectors may have been plugged into the Motherboard incorrectly causing power to remain on, hence the need to switch on and off at the PSU.
What connector does the light strip use?
There are 3 pin, 4 pin and 5 pin connectors, 4 and 5 pin use 12V and 3 pin uses 5V and should be marked aRGB.
Plugging a 5V 3 pin connector on the 4 pin socket on the Motherboard will overload the lights and may cause other issues, although it shouldn't be possible due to the design.
Your front fan lights not working could be due to the secondary wires from them for the lights not being connected to a power source.

Some are proprietary and only plug into a specific controller.

looking at that second picture of the top of the motherboard i think i might have seen something can you take a picture of the top of the 24 pin connector on the motherboard and its surrounding area.
it looks to me like the chip left /inbound from the actual 4pin extension bit of the 24 pin looks like the side of the chip blew out, its dark like a bit missing.

im not on my phone woot.

If you plugged a RGB strip the wrong way around or on the wrong header, my guess would be a dead board.
