Logitech has gone mad!

It has plagued several of their mouse models. It happened on the G700 and G700s and the MX500-518. Just google G700s switch replacement. The switches they use literally just wear out.

Yes i am no fan of those switches either, the light to press ones always fail within 12 or so months for me with the double click problem.

Never mind the G700s side and up 3 buttons sucked ass big time.

EDIT:
Darn! I could have tried Razer mice, I was right in front of them in a local area Best Buy. (West Lebanon, New Hampshire, IIRC) But I saw people telling other people about them failing.
The last time I was at a Best Buy, was most likely February, 2020. The last time, it was most likely for those Polk VT60 speakers! All's well with only 2 of them!
Close to the time of getting my first Ryzen build, I did get Logitech mice, of the new Hero versions.

Ever Razer mouse i have got in the passed failed within 13 months and one failed on the wife too.

They like sending referbs to which makes me think of the referb keyboard that they sent me which failed in about 6 months.

Low quality post by ixi
So I just tried to get an RMA for my less than two year old G602 wireless gaming mouse. The left mouse button keeps missing clicks, randomly letting go during drags and what not. Obviously the switch is going bad.

The Logitech rep wanted me to create a video of troubleshooting the mouse to get an RMA! Yeah, make a video for them to honor their warranty! I have never seen anything so asinine in my entire life. It's bad enough I wasted half an hour of my life waiting to talk to a support rep. Then he sends me the instructions. Like 20 steps long and ends at a website that tests double clicks. I told them different batteries and tested on a different PC with same result. Nope they will only do an RMA with a video of the mouse malfunctioning.

I'm done, never buying another Logitech product ever again! I wonder how long they've been doing this. Has anyone else run into this with them?

Stop bragging around and do what they asked. Oh no, you will waste your 5 mins of your life by filming the mislicks, can you imagine? That is world end! Do you live in 20th century that you can't do a video?

Like a online women, oh noo, they want me to do that and that.

Jesus, grow up. I have a solution for you. Don't buy mouses next time and buy touchpad :).

I had a logitech mouse that started double clicking, got rid of it and got the Asus Carry mouse which has easy to replace switches.
In general i don't care for Logitech anymore and want to avoid their stuff.

You can thank guys like this for the policy:

It used to be you request an RMA and logitech would ship you out a replacement. No need to ship the original product back.

Logitech's RMA processes is still one of the better one's in the industry. I have steelseries, Razor, Pwnage, Glorious, CM, Corsair, and even some old OCZ mice. Logitech still sends you brand new product, a majority of other brands will send you refurb back. They also have the shortest turnaround time. You will enjoy it when with Logitech you only have to RMA once instead of 3 times.

Mind you select other brands also require you to do the same thing. Glorious for example. Then again, like logitech, they will also send out a replacement without you needing to send the original in.

I really don't think over-reacting in a post like this productive. What logitech does is nothing abnormal here and in the end the result is better for both logitech and the customer.
So this ass clown screwed everyone by making a video about how to rip off Logitech. Nice job!

I made a post because I think everyone should know that Logitech will no longer honor their warranty like a normal company. I do have to say, I expected to have to ship the old mouse back to them. It might be worth making a video if they send me a brand-new mouse without having to return the broken one.

Stop bragging around and do what they asked. Oh no, you will waste your 5 mins of your life by filming the mislicks, can you imagine? That is world end! Do you live in 20th century that you can't do a video?

It's not going to be a five-minute video, they have multiple troubleshooting steps they want recorded to honor the warranty.

Had the same with my wireless Logitech VX Nano mouse only I used it for about 8-9 years I think...

I know a few people here have had issues with Logitech products you obviously didn't with that VX Nano and I really haven't before either. I'm not complaining about their quality, one mouse in a dozen or more going bad in warranty really is a good track record. It just annoys me the one time I expected warranty coverage is the time they ask me to jump through their hoops. I think the hoops are silly and most people would consider it abnormal and excessive.

Yeah i had to do that over a year ago, but i have had crazier ones like to destroy a item or\and cut the cables.
Razer is fond of this. Strange, I would think that would make their "cult of Razer" branded members cry.

I had no issues with any Logitech
Only I killed one (MX master 2S) cleaning it with iso alcohol then it refused to charge or turn on but no any mechanical issue. I though iso alcohol wasn't conductive nor corrosive
I currently have another MX Master 2S and still going strong despite some tough usage (drops, hits on transportation, hitting hard on anger, etc.)
They use OMRON switches at least on these...

My G400s turns 7 years old in May, works still like new and it's just worn out by use. Tho I've changed its pads two times, opened the mouse on the second time and give it a good cleaning. Best mouse I've ever had as I've always loved MX518 and its relatives.

IMO, they've been very generous with RMA's in the past, maybe that's something that customers have taken advantage of.
Like people giving away their mouse and then call Logitech to get a new one, or lost the mouse while using it with a laptop away from home.
I wonder how many tons of laptop chargers/headsets/mice etc that gets left behind every year..

Since they probably won't ask you to send the old one back, they just need you to prove that it's broken. Sad but true.
Is it really that much of a trouble to film the mouse while using it?

Are you actually f.in kidding me?

This is called bad business decisions and getting a foot up your arse and taking it for granted. I suppose you like them knee deep. No, you do not accept this nonsense. Simple. This is almost Nigerian Prince mail material, in terms of how silly it sounds, you're now the equivalent of that guy 'sending a reply' no matter what it contains.

If their warranty gets abused that's entirely their and not our problem. The contract was signed. No changing the rules and if they do, the deal is off and I want money back. That is how business is conducted.

I hope this was clear enough to get that fixed into your memory ;) It'll be helpful, because companies have been and will always be keen to find doubt and abuse it.

IF you're making a video, its before sending it off, to make sure they won't tamper with it to void your warranty. You keep that video for yourself until the shit hits the fan. Nobody is helping anyone, if you send RMA you're costing a company money and you need a strong back, and evidence helps.

Stop bragging around and do what they asked. Oh no, you will waste your 5 mins of your life by filming the mislicks, can you imagine? That is world end! Do you live in 20th century that you can't do a video?

See above. I think you need some adjustment too. Especially with the driveby comment about 'online women'. I'm not sure what you're going for there, but if its what I think it is... adjustment needed.

Its almost like some of you are content with a race to the bottom in terms of service and aftersales. Who are you helping exactly?

Do NOT accept any of this bullshit. Accepting a refurb? Questionable. You paid for YOUR product, not someone else's, with their usage pattern. Even that is already in fact a step too far. Its again not OUR problem companies make products they can't simply repair. Stop making it our problems by jumping through hoops.

I am not a millennial that takes selfies all day long and makes videos of myself frying eggs and driving for the hell of it.
+1

That brought tears to my eyes and actually made me fall off my chair.

Logitech has always been a part of my journey and when NCIX was still around they had a crazy $99 deal for a G510/G700 Mouse/KB combo. It has been the only thing I have used since.

It makes me sad how many mice get trashed when it's (usually) pretty easy to replace the switches yourself - but that said I fully understand that a soldering iron isn't everyone's idea of fun.
It also kinda sucks you can't just go to like Radio Shack anymore and pick up a cheap 15w pencil iron and roll of solder anymore for like $15 to give it a try.

Not trying to be a old grouch, but if you have a beloved old mouse that they don't make anymore (lookin' at you, MX310) then yea, it's either gonna be the cord or the switches.

On the OP at first glance it does seem excessive to have a video, but then I didn't realize that Logitech wasn't requiring to send the old mouse back (!) so ... I mean, that's kinda cool. I'd suffer a video for that.

Though I wonder how you do the RMA for the logitech webcam... (just kidding!)

That sounds insane, completely unreasonable. Glad I don't normally have a need to buy their products.

I switched to Steelseries from Logitech about a year ago and have been happy with them. No reason other than I've used Logitech stuff for 16+ years and wanted a change.

I have wanted to change my KB for a while. The thing is though that I would have to pay North of $250 to get a KB that is nearly as feature rich as the G510. Truly an Epic Gaming KB.

Update; I can confirm logitech has gone full stupid in terms of their RMA process.

I have owned no fewer than 15 Logitech devices over the past 10 years (which will no longer continue). I just got a wall of text and requirements from logitech and among that wall of copy/pasted jargon ,was a requirement of me to prove the issue exists with video proof.

I told the rep that when people put their trust in a company and spend hundreds of dollars, the least that company could do is share that trust in return. I reminded the rep that there are many alternatives to logitech ,and I would be keeping the broken mouse, and ill find a replacement from a different manufacturer.

I suggested that they not reply to ticket requests with a wall of copy/pasted text, that all but says ‘we dont trust you’

everybody will take this change differently, for me I’ll keep my money and they can keep their products. My relationship with logitech has ended. others will think I’m overreacting (or a million other different opinions).

Companies are meant to earn our business and to expect anything less only short changes US.

RIP logitech

Two G602 with the same problem in last years. There will be no third.

Thanks for that detail. For me, my relationship with them will never start. This is preposterous, the bit in bold especially.

I'm not sure which one to use my middle finger or the crack...absolutely absurd.

I just have to share my experience with Seagate just to put some hope back into the equation. Especially with that post reminding me of Asus Warranty experience the other day. I had a Seagate SSHD 2TB. One day when adjusting my loop some fluid (2 drops) fell on it and fried the drive when I unknowingly booted the PC. I let the drive sit for a few months in the hope that it could be recovered but it was fried. I had gone through an ordeal with Asus and knowing this was my fault felt no impetus to file for warranty service. Then I started getting busy and those are great Budget Gaming PC for kids for adolescents as 2TB of storage is a good amount. I now had a use case for the drive so I decided to apply for warranty service.

1. I sent in a request for warranty service and my RMA was approved.
2. I got an email requesting that I package the drive properly take a picture of it and attach it when I am ready to send the drive back
3. About 3 days after I sent it in I received an email that my drive had been received.
4. About 4 days after that I got an email that my replacement RMA had been approved.
5. The day after that I got a phone call from a Seagate rep. He literally spent over 2.5 hours on the phone with me digging through the entire supply chain to find me a drive.
6. He found me a drive on a container somewhere in the Pacific Ocean that was in Transit to San Diego.
7. About 3 weeks later a package arrived in the mail and lo and behold a brand new 2 TB SSHD.

Here is the lesson that these companies (who seem to forget that many of them were floundering before the Pandemic) need to learn. In December I decided (since my Wife would not buy me that) that I was going to get a PCIe 4.0 drive. There are a ton of choices and I decided (rather quickly) that the drive is was going to buy was the Seagate 520 Firecuda. It is not the fastest, it is 1st Gen but because I experienced such exemplary customer service I bought their drive with no compunction.

Yeah keep at it don't let up as they are hoping for you to give in like a good little minion.

its not so much the 95% of stuff they ask, its more that 'prove it' part that really pisses me off.
the RMA process was 90% of why i bought logitech in the past.

Buy 4 Logitech mousepads for me & my kids
Buy 3 Logitech headsets for my kids

No need to replace them usually, just pop them apart and clean the contacts with a piece of paper. Did that to my mouse a few months ago and it's all good.

Far better than a Rat Shack iron yet not much more expensive. I've had mine for 12 years now and am only on a second set of tips. Make sure to get the tip kit. By far the best soldering station deal on the face of the earth. https://www.parts-express.com/Stahl-Tools-STSSVT-Variable-Temperature-Soldering-Station-374-100
