Days Gone on PC

You're right :)

It's a while since I got so engrossed in a game like this and I'm already on 22 hours playtime. The story's pretty good, graphics incredible, tasty weapons - especially the sniper rifle, an easy to use inventory system and it hasn't crashed once. In fact, performance is silky smooth.
I've already developed an attachment to my bike, just like real life and the sound it makes is just perfect. I really can't praise this game enough and it's obvious the devs put a lot of thought into its entire design.
Photo mode is insane.

Agreed @Splinterdog I'm 52 hrs in and still loving it. No fast travel on the hardest difficulty and I'm starting to get a feel for the layout of the map. Genuine surprises in some areas. I'm invested in the various stories and some of the scenery is sublime. Sniper rifle is also my weapon of choice and I'm currently saving up for the best one at my favourite camp.

I don't fast travel very often either, even on normal difficulty, because it's so much fun just riding around, collecting stuff, snuffing out zombies and enemies, and admiring the scenery :)

Finished the main storyline last night. Solid game. Few things that irritate me like the console style "we take control of where you look when you move near cover" shit, and the inability to jump except at designated spots but otherwise very nice.

Agreed on those and also that it's not a true open world because if you feel like a swim you're told to return to the shore, like those 'leaving mission area' messages.
Other than that, I'm glad it's a long game as it means we get our money's worth and let's face it, it is a highly polished game.

On ps4 there were ambient occlusion issues like shadow/mirroring between your bike and the environment but other than that it's a great game, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Fucking hordes of zombies, not just zombies, fucking hordes and before you finish you have to take down one or three.

If you like underrated games check out The Forest (developed with a budget of only $125,000), and there's a forest sequel due maybe this year sometime, Sons of the Forest.

I killed my first breaker, but Deacon St. John, aka Deek still comes across as a curmudgeonly type, in spite of the fact that he should consider himself lucky to have survived so many battles.
By the way, whoever came up with his name deserves a medal for the most unlikely, considering his profession. With a name like that you'd conjure up a brain surgeon, possibly even a top plastic surgeon specialising in ladies things or possibly a top Hollywood lawyer for the stars.

This one needs a good square meal.

Finished and thoroughly enjoyed it, solid 7 out of 10. Definite room for improvement but the story and characters kept me coming back for more. Would love to see a sequel with even more scope but not going to happen, unfortunately. I'll play new game + in a years time but managed to get 43 out of 61 achievements on this first run and get the achievement for completing it on hardest difficulty. Yeh I took my time when it came to collectibles but I was having fun, 104hrs worth lol.

Might finish off Resident Evil 8 if I can be arsed but just find it so mediocre.

I'm at 49 hours and 15 achievements, but then I'm generally pretty slow and have a tendency to ride around and enjoy the scenery.
Currently, my favourite pastime is taking out snipers with my own sniper rifle, a weapon I never get tired of.
I certainly think the devs put their heart and soul into this game and while there are several overly long cuts censes, which can be skipped fortunately, I like the story and it pulls you in.
And one other thing. Many have said that the game is too long and those are probably the same people who describe a game as too short.

My take on the poor reviews of Days Gone.

I'm now 60 hours in and the game has taken an unexpected, but welcome turn.
The mission 'Nomad Again appears on the radar and once in the mission the story makes a pleasant plot twist with Deek finding Sarah working for the Colonel, but why does Derrick Kouri, the Captain, wear the ring that Deek gave to Sarah?
The plot thickens...

Yeah, thanks for ruining my spoiler.
Nice one.

Game is a 7/10, 7.5 at best. Flawed in some ways, generic in most, and a generic zombie story with cliche characters. Even the zombies themselves are super generic.

Worth playing and I did enjoy it. But it isn't close to greatness.

I found that the devs did pretty well at weaving together multiple extended storylines. They are keeping me very engaged.

I also discovered that you can slow down and observe. At Lost Pond I encountered a guy strumming on guitar. I stopped to listen, enjoying a moment of calm. Then he started singing along and a crowd gathered. I like that they put everyday stuff in there if you are willing to slow down a little.

I grabbed this from the epic store when i got a coupon for 10€. I have really enjoyed this game. The hoards are fun and challenging. I think this game is very underrated . I love it :toast:

Once I defeated my first hoard after I accidentally ran into them, I realized they could be defeated with time, patience and a plan. It’s just a matter of a thousand cuts, and picking the locations, whether it’s herding them into place or using their caves against them. Call me crazy but I prefer daytime at their hibernation caves. Yes an entire horde will chase you, but most will turn back quickly. One though, they chased me over and down hills and into a town where luckily some marauders were waiting for an unsuspecting human. What they became was horde food.

I also discovered Breakers can take out about 50 of them for you at least before the horde takes them down too. Love it!

I beat my largest horde yet, 782 total. I rehearsed my route I would lead them on and what I would do at each step of the way. It worked perfectly.

My only real complaint with the game is using hordes in the storyline, where you have to take one out to advance the story. That’s the one thing keeping this game from being a total win. Otherwise it’s great.

I've yet to take out a horde, but yes, it seems that planning it is essential.
On the other hand I did see a video of the sawmill horde where the player took advantage of what may be considered a glitch in that he perched himself on top of a boiler or similar machine where the zombies couldn't reach him.
I definitely liked the look of that, but it may have now been patched :(

Yeah, that window has been patched. I confirmed it on my quiet recon to check out the sawmill. That’s the point I decided to lead them up onto the road around the sawmill, and stay out of that deathtrap.

DG was well above average for a game. Long games are fine for me. This had story all the way to the end. Good storylines and long gameplay combined are my thing. I give this a solid A/A- (simply because of requiring some hordes to be completed to advance the story).

I just noticed this news, and is quite the bummer.

Not to mention how many fans of the game are asking for a sequel, I'd pretty much guarantee a hit.
