Power supply for geforce RTX Ampere

You need to use 3 separate cables..... with a 3080/3080 ti.... Don't daisy chain with a card that can draw 400w or you will have a bad day long term.

after sometime, i choose to buy this vga....

eventhough, that vga has 3x8pin, but the recommended requirement of PSU is only 750 watt, also in the review, that vga has average 470 watt when full load......

but, right now..... how iam going to used the cables ??

woQJmad.png

3 cables 8 pin or 2 cables with 1 pig tail ??

also, my OS is should be upgrade to update 21h1 or not ?? just for playing pc games and watch the movies......

Are there any 3080s available in your area that only require 2x8? If so that would be a much better option for the reasons mentioned in the prior post.

Its always a good idea to keep your os updated but its not the end all be all with a new gpu. Just be sure to ddu your old drivers before installing your new card and youll be golden.

so, the picture that vga 3x8pin can be using with 2x8pin and pig tail 8pin is wrong ??

alright, so i will not update my OS into version of 21h1......

Buy whatever one you can get closes to MSRP with adequate cooling.... My choices were a strix for 2000 usd or a Ftw3 for 1400 usd not an overly hard decision.

I agree. If you have to spend another $150-$175 to get a solid 850w psu just get the best deal on the best 3080 you can find. Then sell your current psu to offset the cost of the new power supply.

that youtuber, has using 2 cables 8 pin and pig tail 8 pin......

yess..... in my city ;

asus rtx 3080 10gb strix oc gundam edition = US$ 2100-2150
msi rtx 3080 10gb gaming ztrio LHR = US$ 1600-1670
galax rtx 3080 10gb SG OC LHR = US$ 1500-1550
inno3d rtx 3080 10gb ichill x4 = US$ 1470-1490

but, someone want to buy my old vga, around US$ 400-450, ......

anyway, i have MSI vga since gtx 760 2gb gaming , gtx 970 4gb gaming, and gtx 1080 8gb gaming x (today) .....

what, my curent PSU is not solid enough for that msi rtx 3080 10gb gaming z trio LHR ??

Your psu is more than adequate. What are 3080 ti going for in your country?

You can run 3080/3080 ti with 2x8 pin and a pig tail but the cable will run hot.... Your psu has 5 pcie/eps slots no reason not to run discrete cables.

? Im on my phone so going by your responses i assumed (incorrectly?) that you were running a 650 or 750w psu with only 2 8pin pcie connectors! So being that im not able to see your system specs what psu are you using (seasonic gx-850?) ? If its the gx-850 you have 3 separate 8pin pcie cables. I know it will get cluttered with all 3 being dual connector cables but you can get single connector cables from cable mod if you dont mind selling a kidney to get them ;)

Selling your old gpu to help offset the cost of your new one is a great idea.

Cut the crap asking over and over, YOUR PSU IS MORE THAN ENOUGH TO HANDLE A 3080/90 OR 6080/90 SERIES CARD

So Ampere for sure is the new Fermi? Any future outlook on nextgen TDP? 550w on a card stock or overclocked is crazy man wtflol. That is serious business. I am sort of glad I haven't been able to get one.. questioning whether I want one :D

Im staying miles away from Samsung 8nm especially when the chip was originally designed for TSMC 7nm.

Definitely better to shoot for a Radeon this round if you have that luxury of choice. Nvidia tax has no merit right now: the GPU or the chip isnt better, it uses equal or more power with ditto heat or noise, and the extra tech is per-title implementation (DLSS, RT) so youre on Nvidias leash to top it all off and historically that track record isnt great. (Gsync -lost, PhysX GPU- lost, both entirely on Nvidias mood of the day)

I mean, I am actually typing this out on an overclocked Fermi lol. GTX 580 Matrix Platinum on a 3770K :D

I cant flash it back to stock because you need a really old driver for 7, and a specific version of GPU Tweak. Fuck that program. And the card chews hella power too only 1 step from the top lol of the voltage range.. Luckily I burnt a good fan curve to it... because no software can control the fans lol. They are like 2 little Deltas..

when benchmark this test, why my speaker sound is cracking .... ??
B7G46xG.jpg

after that, the sound become not loud anymore (not like before), the sound is like more quiet..... why ??
but, when iam using my headset, the sound still normal, loud (as before) ......

anyway..... test again in the morning, before i goto work.....

Check your audio devices in windows, chances are it reverts to a different output or through the GPU.

The next upgrade then would be the RAM I'd say. 2666 is kinda meh.

well, i like this RAM so much...... SFSG..... nothing else......

btw....

testing 1080p.......

with this benchmark and 3d mark 2013 benchmark, power draw of my new vga..... can increase dramatically to around 360-370 watts of TDP, gpu clock become 1930-1995 mhz..... very scary..... however, the power draw (TDP) of my new cpu, only about 50-70 watts.....

oh, yeah, about my speaker, now the sound can run normally again as usual, i dont know why .....

I have used this LCD since 2014-2015..... Everything works normally for years....

But, suddenly..... on this afternoon....

When I turn on the PC, after a day it is turned off..... My LCD suddenly has no signal.... But the PC still works normally..... Check the hdmi cable and power adapter cable, everything is ok..... Then I turn off the LCD for around 30 seconds, then turn it on again, it can be normal again.... How can it be like that... is my LCD starting to have problems... ?? or is it just a problem with the hdmi cable ..... ?? or what else is it....??

My LCD is still using HDMI 1.4, while the GPU is already using HDMI 2.1....does that also cause problems ??

last weeks, still there is gpu core clock option in my MSI AB..... but, in the last few days, that gpu core clock option is gone, so, right now, there is no gpu core clock in my OSD of MSI AB....
why is that ?? how to fix this bug ??

also, how to show up VRM temperature on my MSI AB ??

Not all cards support vrm temperature reporting, did you update AB?

Go online andsee which ones do

i have using that MSI AB, since MAY 2021..... everything is fine, until today....... that gpu core clock option has gone, since 20 august 2021 ....... before that date, its still there.....

i knew it, because, everytime i am playing pc games, i always using capture screenshot with my MSI AB.....

Use a old version then

Use a old version then

finally..... there is a solution.....

i dont know why, but the option of core clock is suddenly move (automatically) into the bottom of tab monitoring on MSI AB..... also, sometimes, that option it will not in there.... its missing.... so, i must restart MSI AB and RTSS....

voila...... the option of core clock is coming alive, again........ is this a bug from MSI AB, or what ??

i am sorry, BUMP.....

but, are this my PSU is still good enough for asus rtx 3080 ti 12gb tuf gaming oc, gigabyte rtx 3080 ti 12gb gaming oc, msi rtx 3080 ti 12gb gaming oc, or KFA2/galax rtx 3090 24gb SG OC, gigabyte rtx 3090 24gb gaming oc, etc..... ??

Considering your first post and this post dont state what PSU you have, i guess it's the one in your specs?
If you can run a 3080, you can run anything else. the power difference from a 3080 to a 3090 isn't that large

Unless you get a 3090Ti or buy a card that specifically has raised power limits, you're fine
