Technical Issues - TPU Main Site & Forum (2021)

Cosmetic filtering is now blocking entire pages. This is how my account page and techpowerup.com/forums/ looks:

Other people are also having this issue: https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/...-i-try-to-see-the-forums.288395/#post-4637787

I had to login with my phone to get to the linked thread.

Hi,
I haven't had any issues with ublock origin blocking anything
I haven't white listed tpu either which is what anyone with issues can do with trusted sites list.

Same here, anyone wanna report it to them?
Sure, just tell me to which one of the party's, and please don't say FF. I really dislike their support behavior.

It's a problem with ublock I think. Had the same issue using Chromium Edge until I disabled cosmetic filtering for this site

I made a posting over in the Reddit section. Let's see what happens.

Seems they recently updated their filter to no longer kill the whole forum, but only the navigation menu. Added a message when that happens

Yep, was a pleasure to write to the guys over there :D

Can we talk about the bright giant orange ad on the homepage?

It's as bad as the nicehash one

Ah, I checked that out. Truly revolting, is it not? ;)

Well it burns my eyes out of my skull and causes eyestrain
The general public had a similar reaction to the nicehash ad, it was a similar shade of pain
I use dark mode on everything, so its a rather aggressive contrast

To anybody seeing blank page in TPU, if you're using uBO, you can add these scripts to your "My Filters" in uBO Dashboard:

Code:
techpowerup.com#@#+js(remove-class, thebody)
techpowerup.com#@#div[id][class] > *:has(label):not(article[class^="content"]) > *:has(a):has(img)

Additional scripts for TPU:

Code:
! TechPowerUp
@@||techpowerup.com^
@@||tpucdn.com^
techpowerup.com#@#[data-width]
techpowerup.com#@#[target="_blank"] [src^="/"][alt]
techpowerup.com#@#[target="_blank"] [src$=".jpg"][src^="/"]
techpowerup.com#@#[target="_blank"] [src^="https://www.techpowerup.com/"]
techpowerup.com#@#body:style(background-image:none !important)

The "!" symbol only makes a row as a comment so feel free to remove/ignore it.
It's just my habit to always put several scripts together based on domains/sites.

I did complain about the color, and mentioned the possible user hate, they said it's their brand color

That you really can do nothing about. How about dedicating a section of the webpage of the ad instead of the background?

Obviously companies are interested (and paying well) for the large exposure.

I do agree with some of you that it shouldn't be extremely distracting (like the nicehash ad was), so we went with darker colors this time, and I feel we can regulate this somehow in the future, possibly turning it into a win-win-win situation. Maybe limit the area size of "bright" colors?

I just set a zoom level that obliterates all the otherwise-wasted real estate (see below). I recommend you to do the same if you find the ads overtly annoying. (Kind of a bandaid, but yea.)

Good Idea. Alternatively, charge triple for those who insist on posting obnoxious colors. :D
