Pro Local Account:
Main advantage of using a local account is that you don't send personal data to Microsoft when creating one.
The account exists only on your Windows 10 or Windows 11 computer, and its password is stored locally.

I always have been using Local Accounts.

Same, although I have no idea if it makes any difference when it comes to how much data MS picks up.

But if I enter my key, they will still know its me, no?
Hi,
Yes they track your ip address plus hardware on the install so you'll likely never have to enter the key anyway switching to local account via inplace or clean installing.
Showkeys will at least give the key for your records

local for me, carnt do with the Microsoft soul sucking relationship :).

There should be a both option. I use both.. lol

Thought about it, but I only mentioned "main PC". :)

Or do you use 2 seperate accounts on your main rig.

Edit: You can now vote for both.

You forgot the 3rd option. "What is Microsoft?"

but getting back on topic. I have both cases where I use a local user on some pc's and ms account on others. I forgot why but somehow I got sucked into using an MS account.
It seems nearly impossible to have a "personal device" these days as every device becomes an intelligence gathering tool.

<checks account> uh, MS account on my main pc. With all the others I use local (cause Linux) ;)
edit: Nemesis uses local too

I use a MS account not M$ though because I’m older than 24

For the actual user account it's a Local account for me on any/all boxes. I do use a MS account for the Windows Store/Xbox GamePass and O365.

You can add a Ubuntu VM to Azure AD. :pimp:

Hi,
Local acc because my pc's are located locally :p
There aren't any apps worth using a ms account for atm if there were I'd simply login with them
But I object to associating a server/ ms account password/ pin/ hello/.. nonsense with my pc login :kookoo:

Local. My install of W10 is upgraded from 7, and that install of 7 was upgraded from XP. Somewhere in here it was copied from a 250GB HDD to a 128GB SSD, too.

My install of windows 10 is on an MBR partitioned drive, which I have learned breaks some tools like Ryzen Master.

MS account of course. Onedrive slaps.

Microsoft Account for me.
