As we live the age of game remakes, which game you would like to see to have a remake?

Many console games of the 8 / 16 bits era ...
Welldone remade / remake like we see with Wonderboy, Toki, Actraiser or Alex Kidd recently ...
I'll include in this list : Faxanadu, Zelda II, Soulblazer etc ...

On PC, Test Drive Unlimited have so much potential !

Part 1 is getting the remake treatment but it's in development hell it seems.

I still liked part 2 even with it's issues.
I also enjoyed the sequel but it was tarnished by the bugs and obviously-truncated story. It could easily have been another classic if it hadn't been whittled down so much from the original vision.

There's a good video on the remake development hell from a couple of weeks ago, and given that we've not heard anything yet, there's a chance it's still stuck in limbo:

Unreal Tournament 2004.
And even though it's still great to play as is - Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Or one of the Nintendo DS Castlevanias. Bloodstained already showed how prettier it can be but with a bigger budget and maybe some new ideas (basic inventory system and armor crafting? environmental destruction to open new pathways in the castle?) it could be even better, I believe.

I'm not holding my breath that it will be any good and seeing how poorly Aspyr handled the switch port of Kotor 2 I'm glad they seemingly are no longer handling the remake. I'm not familiar enough with any of Embracer Groups other studios to really be excited for it though.

Arcanoid ...

Remakes seem the way to go as there is little creativity and risk taken now days, rehashing a successful older game it seems is lower risk for the publishers than making new single player offline games.

A remake of the Vice City remake..... :D

IMHO, remokes should simply be illegal, which would force developers to get off their lazy arses and actually create something NEW once in a while, instead of milkin the same ole same same cash cows over & over & over again :)

As Buzz said: "To infinity, and beyond"....

I thought about it a little..

I would like to play Gran Turismo on PC, it all of its glory..

The way it was meant to be played

I haven't played it since PS1, and I refuse to buy another console just to play one game :D

Yes, No One Lives Forever came to my mind and of course Nightdive Studios has its own battle trying to acquire the rights. The question is, what would the studio do with it if it succeeded?
Remake or remaster?
To my mind, a game like NOLF is a one-off, a true original and specifically of its time. Remember when we all had a sense of humour? Yes, I remember those halcyon days which are now long past and we all know why.
Could a remake capture the essence of NOLF? Would the voice actors which, let's face it were critical to that game, live up to the task? And even more importantly, would a studio be ballsy enough to not worry about offending so many precious little petals out there?
Some games are best left as they are and NOLF is a prime example. A remaster, yes. Although with all the tweaks available for NOLF, it's probably as good as it's ever going to be right now.
Black Mesa and System Shock are examples of remakes done well as is the Resident Evil series, but not this one, please.

Yeah, my guess is they will skip the psp games and MGSV doesn't need a remake so that would make MGS 1 next chronologically.

Although MGS IV really needs to escape being trapped on PS3

yeah, I am so confused by Konami's decision here. they are doing a HD update for all 3 MGS main games, then a mgs3 remake... they should have done a mgs4 remake since so many of us can't play it.

even the ps3 emulator can't play the mgs4 game... its truly a game that has been lost to history sadly. i never got the chance to play it sadly.

edit: it can play the game, but it has lots of issues... https://wiki.rpcs3.net/index.php?title=Metal_Gear_Solid_4:_Guns_of_the_Patriots

This might be a long shot but they should do a Time Crisis game instead of it being an arcade shooter, make it into a full fledge fps game with a good story etc
Kinda like how the first 2 grand theft auto was a top down game and then gta3 was a 3d open world...

Hmmmmmmmmm
It would be nice to have the following.......remade......fully across all platforms............but true to the original (proper)
I know a lot below were redone...........jsut not sure I would call them fully true to the originals

ChronoTrigger (maybe Resurrection) or option for both
Simon's Quest
Adventure of Link, a link to the past, Ocarina of Time,
GoldenEye (was good fun multiplayer)
Perfect dark (was good fun multiplayer)
Megaman
FF1, FF4 & 6
Ninja Gaiden(s)

Counter Strike Source - I preferred the menu system over GO consolized one

IMHO...

None. Because in this day and age, the mindset of game companies are all about...

1. Making the money above all.

2. Selling broken ALPHA games and letting the customers be beta testers at best.

3. Marketing vs Reality of the game. You see the sh!t being shown and when you get the game its at times completely different from marketing.

4. Voicing the current political message. Such as The Last of Us. Changing the look of characters because it offends a tiny but loud group of nut cases.

I can go on and on and on because I know the F#$%ing industry and its pitfalls.

Why do you think Good o' Jeff bailed/resigned so suddenly during his tenure in Overwatch? Or that T#$D J. Allen Brack resigned after promoting... CHANGE.... Hypocrites... all of them. I can not trust anything coming from the lips of AAA industry.
They been F#$%ing the players who IMHO many of them became sheeple since 2008. Otherwise we would not have the years of utter crap being shoved to the masses who been buying it for THE SHINIES.

Yea I'm incredibly bitter about this because I was there during the golden age of video games/entertainment industry and the wonderful freedom to create things by the written word and or visually. It was so damned fun. You felt like you accomplished something with all of your hard work.

You were a story.

And I miss that greatly.

Now it is Garbage in with check points and I want no part of funding the greed of people for the sake of nostalgia.

We lost something back then. The creative freedom to be free.
Yep. We need to learn to get rid of the mind police again - killing social media is a nice first step for every individual. After that you need to get used to that void.. and after that you can get creativity going again. Something that originates truly from your own mind, based on your own frame of reality instead of what algorithms pushed which is always 'most common denominator' ergo what was already popular before your own creative process...

The first step is the easy one though. So yeah. Nuff said :) Lets hope the sheep/herd mentality remains reserved for the mainstream flock, they actively seek it after all, and the real artists are left to do what they do best...

the only real star wars dogfight simulators that were: Xwing, Tie-Figher, XvT and Xwing Alliance

half life 2 with part 3 included

With pathtracing please.
How epic would it be though to play pong at 20 FPS on a 4090. Would instabuy just for its meme value.

But honestly remakes... I have to agree.. just make something new that actually works already because most remakes are really not better than originals thus far.
