Anime Nation

Its sad when they are short and tgen others that are ridiculously long, like naruto, one piece, bleach, way too much.

Trigun should have had more, Stampede didnt hold a light up to the original
Agreed, the original was far better, but don't mind having more Vash...
Speaking of classics, there's a ton of Slayers...
Quite a bit of record of lodoss war.
Escaflowne had 26 ep + a good movie...
Modern shounen run forever because they are the ones bringing in the cash...

If anything I'd like to see Dragon Ball Super redone in Dragon Ball Z animation, bring on Bruce Faulconer sound track, and change the dubbing slightly, because it appears Goku was made to sound like an imbecile in Super but a fighting champ in Z. The Super manga has been resumed.

I've been going on youtube to find some ads, and yeah I've seen Lodos War, Slayers is a big time classic.

I wish Virtua Fighter got a season 2 dub after Akira defeated Dural, same with the first Dirty Pair series.

I think the Original Trigun should get a continuation after Badlands Rumble Movie.

Heck I found the woman they based Space Channel 5 Ulala off of, she is 57 currently.

Dirty pair was good fun.
I seem to recall silent Mobius was pretty good too...
Watched super in jp, so no comment on dubs, but animation in Z was peak, GT as well I think and daima's doing great...
Some more true classics to consider, patlabor and the whole macross saga...

Watched RE:Zero last week.

Not bad for a fantasy anime.

Second half of season three due for release in February.

Currently in the middle of a "You're Under Arrest" rewatch. Good stuffs.

Zenshu is about a Lead Artist who gets Isekai'd into one of her childhood animes. It's reminding me a lot of Erased but less serious (good thing as Erased was just a tad too serious for my tastes).

The main character has vague animator powers to create new stuff. It's seemingly related to her real world woes (basically Writers Block as she's clearly having issues on her next work).

The Isekai anime world is somewhat generic with a 90s flare. Voids are attacking, the heroes need to stop the voids. Lead Animator knows where the story is going but has the power to change the story.

The Isekai stuff is whatever... but it seems more like a character study on the lead protagonist. This anime clearly has connections to her childhood, her work (as she meets her old boss's character and learns about her company through these characters), etc. etc. It feels like the meat and bones of the story will be in how all of this helps overcome her writers block.

I rewatched the first 2 episodes in English Dub (this is a simul-dub!!). English is good! Hirose got a very spunky attitude / voice in English and I think the 4th wall breaks are more clear and more obvious in English than in Japanese. Little changes to the script (ex: she exclaims "Boom" as she slams down her 2nd drawing) emphasize and work with the story in subtle ways (explosion-based drawings in the 2nd episode).

Is it just me or this is the most barren season ever?
Besides all the sequels to shows I'm not watching, I see nothing noteworthy to watch...

Zenshu is solid Isekai fun. She actually wants to go back home and all the anime stuff related to her childhood and work life. It's a fantasy world that directly relates to the main character, which is somehow a perspective not yet really done in Isekai yet. Very high production value too.

(Whatever, I'll repost again lol)

Soroiro Utility looks like a fun Moe Golf show. I'll be checking it out for comedy.

Kenshin may be a remake and sequel but it's solid. The original anime just wasn't this well animated so it's good to see the +quality.

Besides, we are in Kyoto arc, the best arc right now. It's hard to complain about that!!

Apparently the "Fell in love with Okinawan Girl" anime is solid RomCom this season but I haven't seen it yet.

I'm definitely gonna checkout the Bureocrat to Villainess anime. The production value is way higher than I expected.

--------

I don't like most of the sequels either, but there's plenty of new shows that interest me.

Robotech was good but Macross was better to understand. Macross 7 has Grammy level Music. Escaflowne was good but I would love some more Bubblegum Crisis and a 3rd Season of Ghost In the Shell SAC.

None of that looks very interesting to me, I'm not sure I will find anything and golf really isn't my thing...
I watched kenshin og and the new first season as well as this...
I'm watching behemoth though, just cause I read the Manga and it's lewd fun with bad production values...

I guess there's always checking out the best of 2024. There's so many anime released its basically impossible to keep up with all of them. I feel like Kaiju No. 8 is a best of 2024 candidate.

It sounds like you're into some of the more darker shows? Go Go Loser Ranger has some nonsense-levels of conspiracy. But it is a good "dark worldbuilding" where the Rangers are evil and the protagonist is a mook.

Go Go Loser Ranger will never be a top-tier anime with all of its problems though. But it might tickle your tastebuds with some of its worldbuilding... sometimes. It really was a lot of nonsense / technobable at times though. I think its worth watching but only as a B-tier show.

The Dusters are definitely humanity's enemy. But the Rangers are despicable people, so you can't help but cheer for Fighter D (a generic Duster) to take down the Rangers. The story is that the Rangers defeated the monsters over a decade ago and enslaved the mooks/Dusters. The Dusters now have to serve as kid-friendly entertainment at the arena each week to cheer up the crowds while the Rangers do a fake-battle for PR points. Fighter D is finally tired of the routine after 10 years and is trying to infiltrate the Ranger's human-side organization and seeks to assassinate them.

--------

I'm guessing you're looking for more of the darker storytelling styles? I guess this season here in Winter 2025 is a lot more moe, slice-of-life, comedy and such.

Golf was my high-school sport going up btw. So golf shows do have a special place in my life. Its intriguing that this golf anime seems to be much more low-key. The main character is full moe, she's terrible at Golf but wants to get better. But Golf is the kind of game where you can have grossly different skills and still play together with your friends. It does depend on what the vibes are for this anime but I'm curious at least. (I haven't seen it yet though).

EDIT: Elusive Samurai also deserves a mention in 2024 IMO. Strong action / "fight" scenes. The overall gist is that Tokiyuki is bad at fighting but really good at dodging + running away. It makes for unique fight scenes as the team struggles to take advantage of Tokiyuki (which inevitably means placing your prince / leader in the position of dodge tank on the frontlines, lol).

I liked Robotech as a concept and the books elevated it. I would love a remake with the books as the script and modern Macross animation. The original Macross was really not that good by itself and fell apart story wise by the end of the run.

I'm not sure why Macross 7 gets any love. It was a terrible anime with bad music. Macross Plus was the really good music and the best of all of the Macross series in both music and story.

The original Macross story was good for its time, I am not a fan of anything to do Robotech though.
If they ever did consider remaking the original, they can certainly take story elements from DYRL and expand on it a lot more.

Rather watch cute girls camping or mountaineering than golf .
Need more frieren, abyss, ranma, and a few others, maybe use this free time to clear backlog...
Macross F Was great and delta wasn't bad.
Aquárion first season was something else too, this new thing, not sure what's it trying to do...

Have you tried Zenshu though? Or do you really think that's not to your liking?

Its a rare simuldub with good English voices. That alone should be a big hit for various groups.

Doesn't look bad, not sure what to think of the fmc though...
Dubs though :(:banghead:

Hirose is definitely flawed but in a believable way. She's definitely overconfident and thinks she's "all that", given her reputation as lead animation director to a hit series. And despite working in anime and being inspired by it, the magic seems to have been lost to her as she grew up, thinking on more technical grounds (see her explanation of "what's an animator" to the Isekai world).

They say that flaws make a character, and Hirose's flaws resonate with me far more than other protagonists. But I guess its really up to different people's opinions. (Frieren didn't really resonate with me, for example, lol. I still enjoyed that series but I don't have much emotional connection to anything going on in that show).

I completed Bubblegum Crisis 2040 but it felt unfinished. I know there was a Series Called AD Police that chronologically occurs before BC, I also know about the OG BC. I remember SAC being reran over and over on Adult Swim that I lost interest before I knew of 2nd and 3rd season. I just discovered Key the Robotic Idol.

Youtube have vids of the Sci Fi Channel Anime block from the 90s and lookingfor them is good.

I need help with trying to get Tenchi Muyo in chronological order I know the OVA Ryuoki 1-3 occurred first i believe as it was released in 92 but to put the rest in order is confusing. I also Noticed in Ryioki 2 or 3 Ryoko's English VA was changed which annoyed me.

I need to finish Armitage 3, 1 episode left, and continue You're Under Arrest.

Hajime No Ippo was good.

I wish Virtua Fighter had continued with English VA for Season 2...

Another 1 missing is the First Dirty Pair, it really needs a dub, same with season 2 of Fist of the North Star

There were 2 things that happened that sent me deep down the well.

1. There was a Anime rental place in my City and that was the time when the 1090T got released and Cases came with 3-4 5 1/4 bays for multi DVD. The rentals were also DVD.

2. Toronto is close to me and we have a street called Spadina Ave. That is where the main China town is and there were a couple of vendors that had the anime that we love.

The art is so good as Cowboy Beebop was that good. The most fleshed out I watched was that Space Opera that I can't remember the name of that had like 118 Episodes.

The flea market can be good but hard to find Anime in. In that regard the best I found was a Complete Box set of the Xmen cartoon from the 90s that was good.

On a totally different tangent we are finally getting The Warlord in Omnibus format. If you know that it is like the Holy Grail of Comic Book Ominubus wants.

I was really disappointed with season 3 of Mob Psycho.

Hmm, I think I enjoyed Armitage a bit...

Armitage is awesome. Check out Cyber City Oedo 808 if you haven't seen it. Iria: Zeiram the Animation is also excellent and they all have a similar vibe. They are also all short.

I'm a new poster here, and seen hundreds of anime since I first saw Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2032 on a tape at a friend's house when I was 8 years old. It blew my mind.

A little about me:

My favorite anime is Serial Experiments Lain. I have also seen Texchnolyze, Haibane Renmei, and NieA Under 7 by the same artist.

My second favorite anime is Urusei Yatsura, the original. I have also seen all of Ranma 1/2 and Maison Ikkoku by Takahashi Rumiko. And I actually can't decide between Urusei Yatsura or Lain as my favorite.

I prefer psychological thriller anime like Lain or others that make you think. A modern example would be Psycho Pass, and I enjoyed and had no problems with the second or third season (I forget) that had a different director and was maligned. However, I have also seen many more currently popular Isekai shows, and slice of life shows that I enjoyed. My favorites being Net-juu no Susume (My Life as an MMO Addict) and Non Non Biyori.

The majority of my anime collection is older but it's pretty diverse, and as stated includes some more recent stuff too.

Anyway, that's my introduction, just from skimming posts I can tell this is a great thread filled with classy people.

I missed episodes of Cowboy Bebop so would need to revisit, Xmen 90s, yeah Netflix brought it back as Xmen 97
I was really disappointed with season 3 of Mob Psycho.
Will need to see that

I finished it, now watching the movie and then the 2nd series/movie
