Anime Nation

Definitely a Ton of Gundam series, I saw G Gundam but need to watch the others and Also figure out what Wing is in.
GATE- is that an acronym?
Here is my recommendation for anyone that want to try and get into Gundam franchise:
Universal century timeline
Mobile suit Gundam 1-3 OVA instead of watching the watching the TV series for 1-43 episodes if you want to save a bit of time
Gundam Origin - Yes I say watch this after the 1st show/movie so you don't go from watching modern animation and then back to 80s animation
Zeta Gundam

If you like the Universal century timeline stuff then watch past Zeta gundam like ZZ or if you want to jump ahead and watch Char counterattack and then Unicorn etc. There are good side OVAs you can watch as well

Easter egg
Gundam build fighter + build fighter try
This is just filled with easter eggs from all the previous Gundam shows and its a fun take on Gunpla(model kits)

Standalone
Gundam Seed + Destiny + Freedom - A crazy storytelling similar to original Gundam + Zeta with kinky stuff that is straight out of teen drama show. A lot of cool mech design though
Gundam Wing
Mobile fighter G Gundam - A fun watch if you want to watch mech battles
Gundam Iron blood orphans - Worth checking out if you are interested in like militia group/pirates Vs politics
00 Gundam - An Ok show to start with

Maomao is one of my all time favorite characters, loved S01, can't wait to start watching S02

Ado is currently the hottest J star worldwide and her music is pretty fascinating...
Take this one too :D

Do you listen to reol or babymetal though?
I listened to some momoiro clover z too, they did a colab with KISS some time ago...

While the Escaflowne series was just great, the movie did pretty well imo, great fan of the music too...

Not a fan of the music, sorry. I've heard and seen some MCZ and didn't like it either, too corny. I don't know who Reol is. I used to be REALLY into Babymetal from 2014-2020 but got too obsessed and it messed with my head so now I don't listen to them. Only their first two albums are good imo.

Yeah I saw the Airing back in Late 90s Early 2000s for Wing. Ok GATE is like Stargate (Movie/SG1)
For me Wing was the last really good Gundam.

If you want good music and have good speakers Macross 7 is great.

Thanks, this is quite useful. My brother is a huge Gundam fan and has done at least 15 gunpla, it would be good to watch the original series+ follow ups with him.

This is pretty much the entirety of canonical UC. There's various movie compilations/retellings, but you don't have to watch those unless you really want to. I have them listed in chronological order versus release order, so be prepared to jump around in animation quality.

The Origin
0079
08 MS Team
MS Igloo
0080 War in the Pocket
0083 Stardust Memory
Zeta Gundam
ZZ
Char's Counterattack
Unicorn
Twilight Axis
Narrative
Hathaway
F91
Victory Gundam

That's a lot to watch!

Zenshu is solid Isekai fun. She actually wants to go back home and all the anime stuff related to her childhood and work life. It's a fantasy world that directly relates to the main character, which is somehow a perspective not yet really done in Isekai yet. Very high production value too.

(Whatever, I'll repost again lol)

Soroiro Utility looks like a fun Moe Golf show. I'll be checking it out for comedy.

Kenshin may be a remake and sequel but it's solid. The original anime just wasn't this well animated so it's good to see the +quality.

Besides, we are in Kyoto arc, the best arc right now. It's hard to complain about that!!

Apparently the "Fell in love with Okinawan Girl" anime is solid RomCom this season but I haven't seen it yet.

I'm definitely gonna checkout the Bureocrat to Villainess anime. The production value is way higher than I expected.

--------

I don't like most of the sequels either, but there's plenty of new shows that interest me.
The bureaucrat show is hilarious so far, the constant 2 way misunderstandings as an old guy tries to be an asshole and constantly fails never gets old.
The original Macross story was good for its time, I am not a fan of anything to do Robotech though.
If they ever did consider remaking the original, they can certainly take story elements from DYRL and expand on it a lot more.
OG macross was up there with the original yamato and captian harlock. The robotech ones? Nah not really, the story of how so many different shows ended up under the same name is way better than the shows themselves.

Hmmm. Villainess has morphed into its own genre now, these shows need to do things to stand out from each other. The core joke of everyone liking the main character was the OG "All Routes Lead to Doom". While a Villainess who kinda fails at being mean is kinda sorta "Villainess who will go down in history".

Its not bad though. I'm curious how this show plans to stand out aside from the initial shock value of Old Man tries to be Villainess.

I will say that this does match my humor more than.... Mashle or some other popular shows. But it's honestly one of the weaker Villainess shows I've seen so far.

The main issue for Bureocrat Villainess is that it's too close to two other shows. If it can stand out a bit more / contrast itself more it will work out well. It has plenty of episodes to try for it in any case, no need to try to stand out immediately. Ex: the opening implies that maybe his Daughter and Wife might be able to connect with him through the game, which would be a very heartfelt journey IMO and standout.

Started watching GATE. I think I got 2-3 episodes in then switched to watching Thunderbolt Fantasy 3

Its not that I DONT like GATE but I last saw TF in 2019. loved it and didnt know they had a 3rd season out. I think there is a 4th final season but subbers havent got to it yet.

When I first came across Thunderbolt, I was like the what s!@#$ is this? I never gave it a chance, but as time went on it kept getting positive sentiment so I might try again.

In a way its anime that is done VERY VERY differently. Im actually super disappointed that they left it at 4 series's. You may look at it and compare it to the likes of Thunderbirds, Stingray, captain scarlet etc etc but none of these shows had fully choreographed puppet fight scenes and special effects QUITE like Thunderbolt Fantasy.

Give the first series a shot and if you get to the end and dont like it then thats fair.

There is also a movie out for it but Im not too sure where that sits in the line up. I think it came out after S2. Got it on my tablet and im definitely looking forward to watching it later. Ive just got so much other stuff to watch and do right now.

::EDIT::

Make that TWO movies. one 2017 and one 2019. 2017 came after the first series and the 2019 right after the second series. I dont recall having seen the 2017 movie but I have the 2019. I believe it fills in some gaps and sets up the story for Series 3.

It just sucks that Macross/Robotech is hung up in red tape. Robotech The Macross Saga should have had a proper continuation and I don't mean Southern Cross or Mospeda which were 2 totally unrelated series to SDF1 Macross. Its all a mess in limbo thanks to Harmony Gold and Tatsunoko

I completed G Gundam last year.

I really don't care about the animation style changes, rather have the story line canon correct.

Tenchi muyo is a mess even.

It just sucks that Macross/Robotech is hung up in red tape. Robotech The Macross Saga

Supposedly Harmony Gold who own the distribution rights to the show have relaxed their strangle hold on the franchise and they have been working with a few studios to release some more Macross/Robotech stuff. Im not sure when it will get here or if its just for show that they are doing something with the IP, but something is supposed to be happening. Its HG that are working with a studio instead of shutting studios and fans down which is what they normally do.

Yeah i mean there is Robotech:The Shadow Chronicles which will be like 20 yo next year, it be nice to see certain series get proper continuity.

just a small snippet of some of the stuff I have loaded on to my laptop:

In my defense... 1. flights to HK is super long and 2. I didnt know how long it would be before internet could be established so prepared for the worst case scenario.

Ive seen Iron blood Orphans before but its been so long since ive touched on it. Its due a rewatch after all the other stuff gets done. A lot of it is just random stuff I pulled off the internet. Some more light hearted than others.

I have some more loaded on to my laptop and also a spare MicroSD card. This holiday is going to be an anime and movie watcha-thon!

Yeah a 12 hr trip on a plane for me sucked, never again, that was in 2005 and 2006 to South Korea while i was in the AF.

To be fair I've not seen a lot of the OVA yet still for UC, I've only seen a lot of the mainline UC shows. I know the war in the pocket is also good and stardust memory is a must too as well.

The only Macross we will never get at the moment is the very 1st Macross since it's "linked" with crappy Robotech.
They have allowed most of the sequels to be released now which is why we have a few of them on stream services.

Out of curiosity. Did you fly fast jets? For some reason I have you flying an F-86 in my head. I dont know why.

Nevermind. Answered my own question. Looked at your avatar and it said MXS. So you were like an engineer/mechanic doing maintenance.

That still doesnt change me seeing you as an F-86 pilot

Anyone checked this out yet?

Its like if America took the Gundam franchise and made it more American for western viewers. Because apparently it didnt contain enough American.

F-16C Fighting Falcon- Integrated Avionics Systems Apprentice at the time. In 2009-2010 I was a Craftsman over several models of F-16.

Yep I did, it wasn't all that bad to be fair. The one time I would recommend watching it in english over japanese as the lip sync is for english.
