Not one but many, well it's a collection to be fair, but I wouldn't want any serious PC gamer to have zero backup cards at all.

But basically I'm past selling parts to fund upgrades, I'm keeping them all for either other boxes (like for my son), the collection, or future retrospectives/retro boxes.

I have a really old GPU for troubleshooting purposes, but it's not what I would call a backup. I have a couple of machines that can function as a backup gaming rig if my primary goes down for whatever reason.

My daily driver laptop has a 2060 RTX in it and my HTPC/casual gaming rig has a 1080Ti. I have a new machine that is waiting for reasonable GPU prices that will take over as my VR/Sim rig. So I have a number of backup options if necessity demands it, but I can wait to replace the GPU in my gaming rig if it goes down.

I have a backup GPU only because I have a backup PC.

I sold my RX 480 backup when I bought my 6800xt and my vega 64s both self immolated. My backup is my laptop.

Yes -other.

I enjoy benching and bios modding and cooling video cards for top benchmark scores. There hasn't been any given year I didn't have 5 or more. Over a year ago, made a mass sale of roughly 100 ATI/AMD gpus and this is not including giving away around 30 AGP cards. I have several boxes of GPUs today, but not more than 2 dozen at this time.

Tldr, my spare gpu has a few spare gpus.

it's kind of different for me, recently upgraded to a 4080 (purchased), then roomate decided to move abroad and dont want to deal with his mess in the apartment, therefore he just took what he needed and left everything for me to clear for him, the payment, is his 4080...

Same here. It's hard to sell on ebay these days, Facebook marketplace is full of idiots, and while CeX buys everything off of you straight away, they pay you peanuts. And even when I manage to sell something, I regret it soon after, when I need the part for a project build as a secondary rig, a friend's system, or something else.

gtx 650,
And for now gtx 1050, but it will be added for pc that i build for Mother, but I need to clean old case that is compatible with desk that She is using now, so for now it's mine xD

Not really, no. I've got integrated graphics if my card goes to shit. In which case, I'd probably just go buy some recent gen low-mid tier shit and be faster and more efficient than I am now. My 2600k is already probably a bottleneck for my 1070 anyway.

Should give him an RX 580 and one of these :nutkick:
Nah he's done shit for me to help over the years too. He's not so bad for a lil bro.

Jesus that one's rough. HUGE hops. Absolutely insane.

HD6570 died a while back and I was barely able to make it a remote GPU anyhow.
RX 580 is still the main and ready to be retired soon but same issue.
P620 is a low profile option for the rack or SFF but you know it belongs in the rack.
From there it's an actual issue to power the card, so 9070XT gets the 1KW box.

I have... ...multiple choices. I own 4 atx tower pc's. I can always steal gpu from one of those. Also I have Asrock Arc750 on shelf. I wish it would use less wattage on idle and did not have rebar "requirement"->I would use it. List of PCI-e cards, what I have: Sapphire 7800XT, Asrock Arc750, Sapphire 5700XT, EVGA GTX1080 and Asus GT1030. Also own 3 APU's Ryzen 5 4650Pro, 5600GT and 8600G.

Also have Radeon 7750 2GB somewhere without heatsink, could use Arctic Accelero on it, but card's PCB bends easily. Too tight or too heavy heatsink->no picture. Older stuff 3DFX Voodoo 3500TV AGP and not videocard but Voodoo 1 6MB with tv out and 2 megabyte PCI S3 Trio something. I could sell stuff away, but I am too lazy.

Ive got a Complete PC for that, was built to go to LAN parties with but these days those dont seem to exist anymore so I updated it so I can use it as a back up PC if needed, but I also have 2x GTX 970s and a 1050Ti just incase.

Always sell off my old GPUs. Computers have an IGP, most of the time, dGPU is just needed for gaming.

I have an experiment pc, that runs games, so I technically have a whole backup system.

Just don't sell old card, but build secondary PC with it. Money is worthless when you are rigless
This is my thinking too. My main rig is 5700X3D/RX 5700 XT and the back up is Ryzen 5600G/RX 580 which I use for video editing and VHS conversion, which could also be used for gaming. I also kept the Ryzen 5600X because once sold, probably regretted these days.

This is why I have lots of backup hardware, especially graphics cards.

Don't you guys have something other/better than FB market over there?
I've been using a second hand marketplace forum in my country since 2015 and I'm yet to have a single bad experience and that includes both buying and selling hardware there.
Last time I've met up with a seller it was when I was buying my EVGA GTX 1070 FTW ACX 3.0 with all of its original accessories on top.
Checked it in person and everything was all good, made the deal and then I've used the card with no issues and later on I've sold it on the same forum when I've upgraded to my current 3060 Ti from that place again.
Did the same with my i 3 12100F when I've upgraded to my 12600KF, the same person actually bought my 12100F so I've only paid the difference so it was a very smooth deal and the 12600KF was in fact brand new in a sealed original box + got the warranty papers with it.
This is why I've did not buy any brand new e/retail GPU ever since 2015 and most likely my next upgrade will be picked up from this very same place.
'also why I don't have a backup cause if my GPU kicks the bucket then I can just go to this place and buy something in a matter of days if needed'

Like I said above, ebay is tough, and our (absolutely great) second hand store that buys all kinds of stuff, CeX, pays you peanuts. For example, they'd pay £160 for my 6750 XT. For that price, I'd rather keep it.

Well the prices are differfent in my country so I can't make apples to apples comparison since you could get more for that 6750 XT here on this second hand market but if you buy something new then its also more expensive. 'still better than our retail prices, those are complete insanity..'
That and personally I simply cannot afford to keep my old hardware around unless its like totally obsolete or its something I can't really sell for whatever reason. 'Like I have my previous 21:9 Ultrawide monitor that I can't sell cause sending it to someone is simply not worth it and nobody wants to pick it up in person..'

I'd get way more than that on Fb marketplace. At least £100 more. I just can't be asked to deal with all the idiots.

The other thing is that it's an AMD reference card, a real rarity, so I'd rather keep it as the crown jewel of my collection. :)

That's fair enough as well. That's yet another reason why I don't bother trying to sell stuff anymore.

Funny but the only time I've had to deal with idiots is when I was trying to sell my previous Realme 8 4G phone but luckily I've managed to sell it to someone who actually wanted it for real and for own use so it ended up in the right place. :)
PC hardware was always easy deal on my end, hopefully that wont change. 'knocks on wood'

Well to be honest I kind of regret selling that EVGA 1070, I've sold it before EVGA left the GPU market so nowadays it could worth more especially since it was the full package. 'box and everything the card came with originally and it was in a decent condition too'
Most likely the only backup card that I might pick up one day is some old EVGA card just to have one around. 'nothing fancy like a GTX 970 maybe'

Once I tried to sell a relatively modern desktop PC for 100 quid. I put in the description "no software included". Then, the guy who came to pick it up wanted me to install Windows on it, then demanded a discount for Windows not being activated and not having Office installed. These are the idiots I'm dealing with on marketplace. All. The. Damn. Time. :banghead:

The other problem is that way too many people buy PC hardware only to pass it on for more money these days, so you can't set a real price on anything.

Edit: And the classic "stuff for sale, £200". Then a random message: "oi mate, give ya 30 quid, I'm there in 20 minutes".
