Quite happy to have one, but never originally signed up here just to get one. That would have been the last thing on my mind here. Pretty sure they didn't even exist when I first signed up.

I see 10yrs is winning. You're gonna have to wait boy! :)
Hope they forums are still active by then, wait I shall. :)

Nothing to add here, just being amazed how many long service folks we have. Salute and thank you for being here!
So I guess the badges have use for quality, duration of quality and loyalty metrics. Losing them would be a loss!;)

Tag team combination of keep as is and 5 years is winning.

The badge colour actually blends well on the dark theme in my opinion.

I don't think the badge system needs to change. I'm edging up on 15 years and that doesn't count when I joined under an old AOL email when Athlon Thunderbird Socket A chips were the new hot chip. So I'm closer to the 20 year mark by my best guess.

I think it's good to see who has been around in terms of who is giving advice.

EDIT: On a side note I'm enjoying the Dark Mode. I asked for it a long time ago and it was shot down.... so all I can say is "It's about time!"

It's supposed to be my Christmas gift this year! (look at my join date lol)

That alone did it for me. Ain't no one taking Bro Dro's XMAS pressie. TAKE ARMS... KEEP THE FIVE ALIVE! KEEP THE FIVE ALIVE!
Vote for fine as-is guys, please ;)

Wait a minute, that's not right!

Both these options mean the same thing:
  • 5
  • It's fine as-is
Which brings us to the conclusion that it's actually the 5yrs that is winning here, eh?

Its gets better... "Move the badges to the user info page" is technically also '5' unless the voter suggests otherwise in comments.

C&C TOTAL DOMINATION!!

How does it save battery?

Since we are drifting off topic, perhaps a separate thread for this? perhaps the recent "Dark Mode - Feedback please" thread.

Edit: Yuck, that is much tougher to format a post around than the former elevated hotlink.

I wish I forgotten hadn't lost my original account. Would have had the 15, and in 3 yrs the 20 badge.

Tbh the current design looks a little tacky, why not the TPU logo with the milestone in the center, set on a background reminiscent of the awards given at the end of reviews.

Like this(see attached)

well I think the winner is going to be "it's fine as is", unless we have some more double agents in our midst, because "10" was at like 49 at one point. tsk tsk double agents always ruin everything am I right?

@W1zzard your poll is a little flawed I just realized, because "move the badges to the user info page" is a little confusing, most people here I think would be fine with the badges moving to under our name/picture on the left hand side, maybe located right below location, but above system specs? I think most people skipped that option though because they think you mean move the badge to your user info page on the profile page, where most people never click anyway.

At least I was confused when I first read it, and it contrasted with the comments I read here, so I don't know.

I guess just save yourself a headache, they have spoken, and it's fine as is probably wins, so now you don't have any extra work to do at least.

I think it should be under username, on top of joined date.

Maybe badges for dark mode can be run through a simple Sepia treatment. The longer the services the harder the Sepia treatment.
Per google: "Sepia tones in photography refer to a reddish-brown color applied to black and white photographs, often to give them a vintage or archival look. "

Eh it looks like baby diarrhea brown, no offence tho. There is too much orange/brown on the dark theme already

That's why I think it looks nice. Could keep the TPU power switch logo red. But idk, it's a matter of personal taste I suppose

Just give more tiers, closing the door behind you is a bit...

I've been coming to TPU for articles for many many many years longer than this forum account and now I feel like i lost out?????? I shouldn't be caring about this!!!!!!

I voted 10 years minimum before a badge is awarded.
I feel 5 is too short a time frame and it's more of a participation award everyone gets.
