Frametime spikes and stuttering after switching to AMD CPU?

Unless the cost difference is substantial I agree the 14600, any variant, is a better buy than the 12600

i5-12600KF 162€

i5-14600KF 188€

i5-14600K 209€

In all honesty this doesn't look like a gpu issue. Seems more cpu/storage related (all the games you showed are mostly cpu bound). I would check to see if the stutters correlate with disk usage on the task manager. Also just for kicks, limit your CPU wattage in bios to something like 65W and re-test.
i hope so, im gonna try the 3dmark test tomorrow with both cards i will upload a video then for both cards so we can be kinda certain

100% the 14600KF is worth 26 over the 12600KF

The igpu is a nice luxury for trouble shooting but I'd rather put that 21 into the motherboard.

i was thinking about the

MSI B760 GAMING PLUS WIFI

If the Tomahawk is close in price I'd get it instead here they are the same price.

B760 is 140€
Tomahawk is 180€
As far as I can see, the main functional difference is an extra M.2 slot on the Tomahawk

It has better I/O and SMT dimm slots and more substantial heatsinks on the vrm but not worth the extra 40 imo.

I did a compare on PCPartpicker but they leave a lot out. I guess Newegg would have probably shown more

wait @Montelo - you got another card? what did you get?

only my old gtx 1060 3gb

i can also just get a new gpu first to try since that would be easier to install and then send it back if it doesnt make a difference

Definitely worth a shot

Maybe a 9060XT 16GB if they aren't too crazy in your region.

RX9060 is from 370-440 depends on which one

what about one of these?

The asrock model, no sense spending more for a bigger cooler on a chip that consumes 180w. If that doesn't fix the issue you can try the platform upgrade instead for about the same price.

9060 is a pretty hard sidegrade

While true it's the cheapest card that will rule out the stutter issue being caused by the gpu that doesn't suck. I find it unlikely to be the gpu but it would take way less time and effort to install a gpu see what happens and send it back vs rebuilding the whole system.

yea thats the only reason why i would get a different gpu, i will probably try that first

im just saying if you can stretch the budget to a 5070 seems like that's the sweet spot in germany.

it's 100 euro more but it's almost 30-40% faster and overclocks like a monster.

I did think the same but I also think the chances of it being GPU related are close to zero. I did see the 5070 for 100 euro more but it is a gigabyte model that is having major issue with the paste they are using I did not see any other models for cheap.

If the 3070 worked in the rockelake system normally the chances of it being the issue are close to 0.

what could be a good game i could test on both gpus GTX 1060 3gb/RTX 3070)
First that come in mind is Mass Effect Legendary Edition. It's very cheap when on sales on steam (currently on sales if I'm not mistaken), plus it's a set of very good games that are very fun and very worth playing. Those games run crazy smooth even on potato PCs. IMHO, these games are perfect for your need.

Fortnite compiles shaders while you play so after every driver change you'll get micro stutter till the game fully compiles shaders.

Afaik it still works this way but haven't played the game in a long time. The DX11 version use to run substantially smoother as well.

Elden Ring also can have traversal and shader compilation stutter so I wouldn’t test with it either.

yeah league runs smooth on an just about everything.. if that's stuttering then somethings going on. Those CS stutters are not normal either. BG3 can stutter a tiny bit as it loads, but the first two should be like butter.
