Long story short, I am unsure of what bag of screws came with my motherboard, due to a friend. Does it matter what screws I use to connect it to the motherboard tray, as long as they fit?

Also, while we are on this subject... Can I connect my front audio ports to my sound card without losing audio quality?

Thanks :)

Here you go, the screws can be used using a phillips head or standard scredriver.:

I use whatever fits, and sometimes I even use screws that don't fit when I can't find anything else.

As long as the board isn't grounding out your good to go.

Awesome! Thanks to both of you... Just one question though: There are two types of screws... Where does kind 1 go, and where does kind 2 go?

You should only need nine screws and you should only need one type.

The bottom one goes on the tray, then the motherboard sits on that. Then you screw it down.

So I am guessing that I should use nine of type 2 to secure the motherboard to the tray? The directions don't say which screws to use, and I've read the whole book already :p

I just gave you pics of the screws to use. Are you talking about the stand-offs?

Damulta: I'm a bit confused about what you said. Can you please clarify a bit?

And I ended up with (general specs) Q9450, this motherboard, DDR3 1800, TRUE, 9800 gx2 (for free from MSI).

lol

You put the stands down first.

Then you put the motherboard on the stands.

Than you screw the motherboard down on the stands.

There will be extra holes left in there for other motherboard types.

Only put stands down, on were the holes match were the holes are on the motherboard.

Haha thank you.

So, to be sure the order goes (for the holes that match the mobo), from top down:

top of screw
stand
mobo
tray

And the rest I can just leave empty, right?

Motherboard tray, then the stands, then put your motherboard in, then screw it down.

YES LEAVE THE OTHERS EMPTY. Those are for different motherboard sizes.

To redo your order (I was a little confused, but understood DaMulta),

Top of screw

Awesome. Thanks SO much to both of you.

Just one question though, erocker: When you got your board, were some of the pins bent oddly on the back, almost randomly? I got mine new from newegg, and had a few days to inspect it before I started building, because my RAM didn't come in the mail yet. I can take a picture if you want to see. I am a bit concerned because my motherboard was missing an optional fan when I bought it... I hope I didn't get one of the open box ones (I paid for a new one).

Should I bend these back with pliers (sounds like a bad idea) or just leave them? Is there anything I can do to make sure they aren't negatively affecting my system?

Leave them! If the motherboard ends up not working and you messed with it, you'll have a very hard time getting a refund.

dont mess with the solder points on the back of the motherboard! its okay if they're bent.. and if the motherboard doesn't work, RMA it.

Understood Do you think this is normal, though? Should I be woried about it?

EDIT: I see panch. So if they are causing a problem, it will most likely just inhibit my system from starting, rather than do something like limit a certain setting or feature (general negative effects)?

OMG is this for real??????
I know new:)
(no hard feelings)

It's liquid metals that drys, and of course they are going to be bent all over the place. They are solder points.

I only got one optional fan is that want you got?

I don't even have that installed atm, but I'm about to shut down and water cool it.

Wow, thank you guys very much. I would be so lost without all the help I've gotten here... And thanks for the clarification. I was worried.

Yes, I got one optional fan, called ASUS and the lady gave me another one, free of charge (even free shipping). I'd suggest you do the same, if you plan on using it.
