abit Closes Down Forever

what a bad end for such a great company. at least part of their blood is alive in the dfi lanpartys.

anyway, Rest In Peace Universal Abit

abit...

You killed yourself with going "cheap". Legacy free? Remember that? People stopped buying you then. Yes, you saved $1 on connectors. But you lost a lot of customers and credibility. We needed that COM port or Parallel port (at the time), and bought our mainboards elsewhere.

Actually, talking about parallel ports, anyone got a space parallel PCI/PCIX/PCIe controller? My EPROM/BIOS programmer requires a parallel port... and my new mainboard is "legacy free".

Never tried Abits board, but i have heard good things.

My EVGA 680i board is good, even tho lots of people may disagree. Considering the 680i's released with lots of problems and have some OCing problems, but its overall a great board if you get one that works.:)

first epox, now abit... :twitch::cry:

damn it! bad news for me since i FU**** HATE both asus and gigabyte... :banghead:

the only mobo's i'm buying now will be the dfi lanparty series...

summary: no more quality low $ boards for you!!! :shadedshu:shadedshu:shadedshu

I live in Australia, and last time i was in Sydney i picked up a USB Eprom. Prior to that i was using a 2 foot usb to parallel adapter which was a little short but did the job just fine. If i remember correctly, it cost me $15au. It looks something like this.

HEXUS.net reports that abit's parent company USI has now decided to pull abit out of the channel market entirely. abit's marketing director Thore Welling commented:
Boy did I read that wrong "Whore Telling"....

Abit made great boards....My first crossfire board was a abit and it gamed well, didn't have many oc features but ran great....

Goodbye ABIT!

*single tear* this is some bs, i loved abit...MAN! **#&$*#^$#@$(@^&#%&#$^&* ALRIGHT IM DONE.....Intel should be going down not abit...lol sorry

Well I got to say I will be sad to see them go.

My first build was on the Slot 1 BX6 Rev2.2 and then added the Abit "Sloket" to run a 1Ghz 100 FSB Flipchip, I still have the working setup to this day.

Also, my just previous AI7 that propelled my Bliss to extreme's is still waiting in case this Asrock gives me big crapolla.

FareWell Abit:respect:

so if my ABIT mobo goes fubar im screwed huh?

It's scary with all these companys going under it makes you think am I next?

man.. I love my old abit X38 quad Gt motherboards..

well hopefully the good of the Motherboard division will go towards the other companies

I had a BM6 and I loved it. Celeron 366@550 power.

RIP Abit.

This is still a perfect htpc mATX board, has all it realy needs for 1080p playback and even more.... where I live you can get it for like 50$

RIP Abit

Now im a bit sad.

(see what I did there?)

I C Whut U Did Thar!!!

w00t! Good riddance... had nothing but issues with your crappy Intel boards. Rest in pieces.. chugga.:)

On a more serious note, I hope this news doesn't have a negative effect on the market in that other small mobo mfgs like DFI or Foxconn, etc will go under.

Foxconn, small? :)) Please, do some research, I think you're very wrong 'bout this :)
Abit - 0v 0fsb.. - R.I.P.

While I was never a fan of abit, I have used their boards and they seemed solid, I just never grew fond of them for some reason. I didn't dislike them either. Either way, it is sad when any business goes under.

I still have an AA8XE Fatal1ty that I intend to use for GPU folding. I loved my AW9D-Max...first board I ran on phase...what a beast.

So long Abit. Thanks for all the good times :D

RIP Indeed. Learned to overclock on Abit boards back when. My AI7 still alive and kicking with a Northwood 2.4C at 3.2 at a coworker's house. :D

PC Chips. They suck anyway. lol
They are the Parent company of Saphire... Foxconn is a big, just not ASUS big, Yeah abit means, abit of time before you get a bios...

"well hopefully the good of the Motherboard division will go towards the other companies"
They already did awhile back, went to DFI, and foxconn...

I have turn my back to ABIT, for many years now .

I got two expensive motherboards at 1995 -1997 , and the CPU fan plug got burned in both ..

Who cares if it was nice boards , the build quality was average .

Goodbye ABIT ..... i will keep alive ASUS , because it worth it.
