Following the trend of other manufacturers, after AMD officially announced 1 GHz variants of their HD 4890, it looks as though XFX will be releasing a Black Edition HD 4890 with the famed 1 GHz GPU clock speed. It would appear that XFX are using a black PCB and a change to red DVI ports as seen on some of their other ATI based graphics cards. Whether or not the PCB uses a reference design is not known at this point but XFX have stuck to the reference cooler with an XFX Black Edition sticker.

That's sweet about the 1Ghz core but since this card is going to surely carry a premium cost why couldn't XFX come up with a kick-ass HSF assembly?

According to Fudzilla, they have said the price is going to be €256.

So $346(US) for a boring ass looking OC'd card!?

Don't forget, these are the heavily binned RV790 cores. Not all 4890s can do 1GHz.

I understand but if I'm going to spend that much for a marginal increase in performance then I want the card to look good, really good:)

I totally understand where you are coming from, but seriously... your never going to see that cards img on the cooler once it is installed(unless you have a BTX) And who base's there buying decisions on the looks of a card before the performance?.. I certainly do not. If you actually compare this to the other ATI cards, this is a good looking card all around. Black PCB FTW! Also go over to the EGG and look at the price tags on the new Nvidia line up.. after you see those prices then you would be more than happy to pay sub $400 for a GPU that can do 1GHZ STOCK, just imagine what this puppy can do in the right hands of a seasoned Ocer...

Thats the best part about this sucker. I want 2 of those soo bad it hurts :D

I get ya. I was just saying that cause I want some sexy in my case. Also I get alot of friends that look at my case to admire it's beauty and since I have a window I'd want a 350+ card to really look nice, not like everybody else's. Oh well, as the saying goes,"wish in one hand and shit in the other, see which one gets full first."

are these 1GHz Cores on stock volts or did it require a volt increase

im sure most reg. cards could get there with a volt increase

It doesnt need it.

No, that's its price in Europe. It doesn't mean that you derive its US price by currency conversion. I expect it to be between $250~$300 in the US.

This must be prove ken wrong day:shadedshu

i agree, it'd be illogical for XFX to price it above $300, especially when this Diamond HD 4890is clocked at 925/1050 and is $254.99. I'd say $269.99 price for the black edition maybe $279.99

this is gonna run REAL HOT probably...

Yes, because these are so much better than GTX 280/285/295's.

is it me or it looks like it has a 6 and an 8 pin connector?

I believe that what all the 4890 OC cards will have 6+8 pins for POWER.

Everytime you post kenkickr all I see is a hot avy blah, blah, blah, hot avy. They I have to hit the bathroom.

Double lifetime warranty on a 1GHz HD 4890 is something to consider if you resell your cards to feed new purchases. That means when you got tired of the 4890 you could sell it to another and they would get the life time warranty intact. Most cards have their warranty voided when they change hands. Lifetime warranty would build value to your buyer.

Card dosen't look any different form the previous 4890 but XFX lifetime warranty can't be beat atm. Other vendor usually only do 1-2yrs warranty.

Can't wait to see these cards start hitting the market since a few companys have now announced them. Hopefully the price won't be too far over $250.

Yes, because these are so much better than GTX 280/285/295's.

285's retail at $330 at the lowest, And 900mhz variants of the 4890 are going for around $250, you really think a 100mhz OC is going to carry an $80 - $90 premium? Anyways what does that question have to do with being on topic? Theres an Nvidia thread up if thats what your interested in stay over there :shadedshu

no more memory overclock , only gpu
