I just built this system and I am using a 24" BenQ E24000HD monitor. My desktop resolution is 1920x1080 at 60Hz and it is working fine. I have the latest drivers installed for both my 4870X2 graphics card and monitor. In some games, when I try to select 1920x1080 resolution, my monitor goes completely blank and an "Out of Range" message is displayed by my monitor. In many cases I am forced to hard reset my machine, but sometimes I can CTRL+ALT+DEL out of it. This happens in BioShock, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky and World in Conflict so far. This is so frustrating. I've called BenQ and they told me that my monitor driver is installed just fine and that it has to be an issue with the graphics card, which I believe. ATI told me to contact the game manufacturer because my graphics drivers are all installed fine. To make sure that it wasn't just the games, I installed the Unigine benchmarking program and I experienced the same crashes when using DX10. I feel like a sucker and an idiot. I absolutely cannot figure out what the problem is. I'm going insane here.

I'm about to take a baseball bat and destroy my entire rig, strip down naked, light myself on fire, and run down the street screaming.

LOL well that will solve nothing. What version of CCC are you running? To me it seems like your monitor is at fault. Does your monitor have firmware you can update?

Drivers for monitors :laugh: WTF?

Mine has firmware I update that's what I meant. Sorry.

My monitor just has a driver and I have the latest one installed.

Okay well what's the latest version of CCC your running? Maybe your 4870x2 does not like your monitor for some reason.

Here is a screenshot of CCC if this does anything...

Did you try putting your refresh rate at 60hz?

My refresh rate is at 60Hz.

That's odd I'm trying to think, I have never had a problem like this. Well you could try reinstalling the drivers for your 4870x2, is it HDMI?, if that does not work there must be some setting that is off or a problem with the connection/videocard or even the monitor really it's hard to say.

My XBox 360 works just fine with the same monitor. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers before. I still have the problem.

Actually, their is such thing as monitor drivers and yes it is possible it could have been the culprit.

@Kompulsive

Do you have your card overclocked while attempting to run that resolution? Entertain me: Underclock your memory on the card and post back results.

Thank you! I didn't know why that was so funny :confused:

I don't know how to overclock or underclock my card yet. I haven't gotten that far, as I have been plagued by this issue.

Your welcome. I hate correcting other members. but it had to be said .. no offense ;)

@everyone

Does AMD GPU Clock utility work for 4870x2's?

Good point JR didn't think of it being overclocked, because not to many are.

well if it's not overclocked than I'm stumped? Have you changed any settings in CCC?

No, all my settings are default.

Do you have the lastest patches for all your games? What about windows updates? Also what brand 4870x2 is this?

Yes, I have all the patches. This is a Sapphire card.

That's what I have a sapphire 4870x2 hmmmmm LOL. Has it always done this or did it just start?

Revenge

Have you ever overclocked yours? What utility did/do you use if so?

EDIT: I am thinking of something that could possibly isolate the problem. Does it do this with lower resolutions also kompulsive?

It has done this ever since I bought the card. I wish to god I could RMA it. I'm going to see if I can. I will never buy another ATI product again.

I know this may sound like i am a jerk but it does happen and that would be your best bet at this point.

What model power supply is installed? Can I get a link....
