8GB GPU Ram not enough to handle Titanfall 2

Maybe the game just caches all GPU VRAM, like the COD engine, what's such a big deal anyways? Do you feel any stuttering in game?

Do you feel any stuttering in game?
I don't feel it, i see it :p

The big deal is: when it hit 8100MB+ stutter for a second or the Game crash.

i could try the insane setting on my 980TI 6g cards.. from what i read its should not run.. will do it now and see what happens..

LMAO somehow we went from 2GB Vram in 2013 to needing more than 8GB in 2016.

Math you do not add up.

i just moved from the very high to insane settings.. played the game for short while.. i am at 1440..

i didnt notice any difference between insane and very high ether in how the game played or what it looked like.. he he

i dont have 8 gigs of vram just a lowly 6.. :)

.....

You know this is how Crytek developed CryEngine and Far Cry + Crysis right?

:)

It has been answered, but Crysis looked great even on lower settings, and played great on lower end system, and it just got better and better the higher you went. It looked the part. The "Can it play Crysis?" joke was daft as the answer mostly was "Yes, yes you can, just lower the settings".

since vista made memory virtual, nothing should ever crash if requesting too much memory... try making a pagefile of 12 or 16gb or anything that's more than ram+vram to confirm that you're not out of 'all' memory

I know all that, I owned the game at the time as well.

But the highest available graphical settings could NOT run smoothly on ANY computer hardware that was out at the time. Crytek stated that they did that intentionally, as they wanted people to see what the engine truly could do in the future as more powerful hardware released.

This is due to a memory leak in the driver, no way that 8GB GDDR5X is not enough for Titanfall. Nvidia is aware of a memory leak in Forza Horizons 3, so Im sure this is probably also the case here. Crytek engine is insane, but the 1080GTX has it owned!

as i have said on my 6 gig 980TI cards the game plays fine at 1440 on the insane setting.. i did have it on very high but have moved it up to insane just as a test.. it plays fine..

in my book the term "insane" did suggest to me it wasnt a setting to be treated lightly which was why i selected very high.. mind you i dont feel the need to max out everything just cos its there.. he he

Trog,

Plays fine isn't really the issue here... If you would like to help, you can also do so by trying to run at the insane setting and see if your MSI AB graph looks the same as the OPs. Then turn the settings down and see if there is a difference....

That will help in telling us where it is.

As it is, your stance on the term insane and why people should or shouldn't use it really isn't the topic.

i dont have the msi app loaded.. i have tried what i have and they dont seem to record memory usage oddly enough..

my stance on the "insane" setting causing problems is that i wasnt surprised.. just use a more sensible setting like "very high".. move on.. :)

however my 6 gig cards seem not to have problems running the setting which kind of suggests its not simply poor game optimization as some have suggested.. my cards are pre-pascal that might have something to do with it i dont know..

i cant do any more than i have to find out why the OP has vram problems running the insane setting.. i would if i could.. i am curious just like you are.. :)

ps.. my experience running the insane setting dosnt gel with the thread title.. i have less than 8 gig and the game plays fine with no sign of memory problems for me on my system.. beyond that there is not a lot else i can say..

I was googling and I have found out that to run the game with insane settings you need 8GB+ or run the game with high setting would solve the problem.

When playing the memory usage is 8GB+

That is not GPU memory they sre talking about. That is system RAM.

Hi lads.

The 1080 Cassified it's a great card but in the last few weeks while playing Titanfall 2 i have had some game crashes due GPU memory because 8GB are not enough.

Any tips how to reduce memory GPU usage?

Thanks in advance.

I run the game on my on a 980Ti on 1440p so your card should handle it find bud, i would be testing your system stability.

You can do more if you want, actually...you are just choosing not to install a simple free program and take the time to do it... let's be honest here.

So, if you really want.....download and install MSI AB... takes literally 2 minutes from searching to install... and show the pic like he does of the graph while running insane settings. ;)

Otherwise, thanks for your opinion on turning the settings down...

he he..

i use the palit app for my palit cards which in theory should show memory usage under its status tab.. but it dosnt.. i just see a flat line for memory usage i got the same result from gpu Z.. .. but you are right i could install an app i have used before and got rid of but i am not going to.. so i take my "i cant do any more" statement back.. it quite clearly in a literal sense is not true.. he he

what i will repeat is what i see.. with my system i see no lack of memory issues whilst running the insane setting at 1440.. what i see casts seriouse doubt on the thread title.. as a general statement it seems to be erroneous.. or in simple terms false or not true..

trog

ps.. i will try gpu shark to see if that tells me anything useful.. i do have that installed..

It really doesn't matter what app, so long as you have a graph/data that shows how the vRAM ramps up in game is all that matters. You can try another application or get the one that should actually work... its your time. ;)

try making a pagefile of 12 or 16gb or anything that's more than ram+vram to confirm that you're not out of 'all' memory

That couldn't be possible because windows is managing the pagefile and the Game uses 8GB of 24GB that i have installed.

That is not GPU memory they sre talking about. That is system RAM.

They weren't talking about system Ram, they were talking about GPU memory.

Btw, Saturday or Sunday my new Machine will be finished, so, i will let you know if my old Machine was the problem.

its either a game issue or if it is a system issue.

I was thinking just the same thing.

I am back.

After i have assembled my new Machine
( i7 6700K OC'ed 4.5HGz + Asus Rog Maximus VIII Extreme and 32GB RAM 3000MHz) i have installed Titanfall and the problem it's the same as with my old Machine, with that said, i confirm that it wasn't my old Machine the problem it's a Game issue.

I can't believe at this huge site nobody has a 6gb+ card and this game that can (or in some cases willing) to test.

I wouldn't rule out the system (software) with the information given...:

Did you try a different driver or install the same one?
Was this on a fresh OS install?
If a fresh OS, you have chipset and ME drivers installed, right?

PS- why M8E? I had no idea you were a subambient guy...

On my Old Machine i was using the Driver 375.70

On my new Machine i am using the Driver
375.86

Yes it was on a fresh OS and Game install.

you have chipset and ME drivers installed, right?
I guess so.

I know you have always told me that i don't need the M8E but I don't know why i didn't listen to you.

If you guess, you didnt. :please

Go to asus webpage and install chipset and ME drivers. I doubt that is it though...

You didn't listen because you like to spend money you don't need to... :p

I own a 8GB card, just don't own the game...
I would have tested it otherwise.

http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/titanfall-2-graphics-performance-and-tweaking-guide

Reading the link you posted i have found this:

Two things to note: 1) selecting Insane on a GPU with less than 6GB of VRAM may lead to stuttering; 2) the figures quoted above assume the use of TSAA (selecting MSAA will increase overall VRAM usage).

I know that i have 8GB of VRAM but i am using TSAA and MSAA enable maybe that is the reason why the Game is using all GPU Ram.

If you guess, you didnt. :please

Go to asus webpage and install chipset and ME drivers. I doubt that is it though...

I will do that tonight after i get home.
You didn't listen because you like to spend money you don't need to... :p
That Motherboard was the only one i liked.
