You can indeed force it not to update and install older versions.

I think there is some confusion about this because newer WDDM versions won't work on older win10 builds, but the inverse is not true.

There isn't a real way to stop automatic driver updates on Windows 10 - unless - you're using Professional or Enterprise.

There are a few workarounds like: Microsoft's hide updates troubleshooter tool, 3rd party firewall, last but not least and my favorite workaround... Windows 7.

It is unacceptable that some corporation is installing software on my PC without my consent.

Windows updates drivers it's literally built into the updates. Go run windows update and tell me if it replaces the video driver. I have to deal with this constantly on mining rigs that are on windows because it dumps the beta driver and puts 17.11.4 on them. So right now the only ignorant moron I see is you. The updater is normal windows life we aren't talking about manually blocking parts. Those people this doesn't apply to at all.

That also looks like a vliw5 gpu which means amd doesn't make an updated driver... So it well doesn't update on its own.

How many know that Crytek didn't ever update the 1st Crysis to make it work with AMD FX CPUs? Only solution was to make script or use software like Process Lasso in order to deactivate the 2nd core of all modules in order for the game to start at all. So, gamers have to workaround for older games since always. And putting some dlls in a folder is basic pc knowledge for anyone me thinks...

I have issues with Dirt 3 on my 1070, Nvidia had done something to that that stopped it working.. Had to roll back to older drivers to get it to work.. But it seems that Windows 10 was responsible also as when that's crashed, I've been automatically updated to the latest drivers so I'm sure I'm going to have a fight to get those uninstalled...

I'm not sure I'm a fan of this automatic updating... Always causes problems somewhere....
