AMD/ATI Catalyst Application Profiles

I'm pretty sure the CAP is its own package separate from the drivers.

Yea they might be for the latest one, but i thought it said that any of the older CAP's are integrated with the later drivers?

Of course. With each new driver release, all the CAP's before it are integrated inside the driver itself. CAP's are just to fill in the time between driver releases so Crossfire users don't have to wait ~1 month to get new profiles. Instead they get them like 5 times in between (current streak).

So RejZoR, the 11.6 drivers dark2099 just posted already have 11.5 CAP5 inside of them, and they're automatically installed with the drivers?

Just curious, as I didn't know CAPs were integrated into drivers and have been installing both for a while, and would like to avoid any casual SNAFUs from AMD. (For example, the hypothetical situation that 11.6 drivers, having been submitted for WHQL a while ago, might not have 11.5 CAP5 in them -lets say they have CAP4 in them- so installing 11.6 but not CAP5 might leave one unknowingly obsolete until 11.6 CAP1. See? Perfectly SNAFU.)

Just a heads up, the 11.6 drivers do not include the fixes for CF in the latest CAP, so will need to install that separately still.

Thanks, and yeah I saw the Tweet too.

It's situations like this that make me ask the question above! Oh AMD...

Guess I'll just stick with dual-installing and be done with it. :pimp:

The very latest CAP probably isn't included because of the WHQL testing process which takes some time and so the latest profile cannot be included.

new CAP out, both on Rage3D, and AMD site, OP updated

As I figured. Sticking with dual-installing.

Just a quick question, do i have to uninstall the old cap then install the new one? or do i just leave it? if i leave it there seems to be two profiles instead of one then. Im confused.

As far as I have read you do not need to uninstall the old CAP before installing the new one. Although depending on what fixes the CAP brings, if you look at how they worked with NFS Shift 2 by first disabling Crossfire, then re-enabling it, might be a good idea with some of the CAPs.

EDIT: New CAP out, OP updated
