Hello. I received an Asus ROG Striker Extreme (LgA775) as part of a large untested lot. I am pairing it with a Q9550, 2x2gb pny ddr2, Radeon x1650, focus GX750.
The board lights up when I plug in power. The green power led illuminates, the power, reset, and CMOS clear buttons light, and the backlight to the postcode screens lights. The postcode screen is blank, however.
When I press the power button, it usually does absolutely nothing, but after a few presses I can get it to do something.
Sometimes all the fans spin at full speed and stay that way untill I power off. There is no power to USB and no display. CPU sometimes is warm, sometimes it doesn't get warm.
Sometimes it will spin fans for a second and then stop, and the postcode screens backlight will flash rapidly. Sometimes the clear cmos btn led will flash, but not always.
I have tried a CMOS clear, a different CPU (p4 630), reseating ram, 1 stick of ram, different GPU, different PSU, and nothing changes. The issue is certainly a board issue. I tried a buzzer and it does not beep.
Can anyone help me identify and potentially repair the issue?
I should mention, the board arrived very dusty and the bare copper heatsinks on the board are starting to look like the statue of liberty, so it's likely the board was not stored in ideal conditions previously.
I soaked the board in alcohol and scrubbed it. This got rid of all the dust and dirt. I also replaced the thermal paste on the NB and SB.
