Hello,

Which is best codec pack for windows vista?

It should not mess up WMC functions [fastforward or reverse] etc.. and other things..instead all files shd be played in media center as default files are being played..

i was using one form softpedia.net earlier..

please reply and poll which one is best?

Vista codec pack From softpedia.com/free-codecs.com
k-lite codec pack
cccp
Shark's vista codec pack
Other-Please specify

======
also specify how these all are different form each other..pros and cons of each if you know..

For me definitely k-lite.
I can play any music and video formats, at least those I tried so far, even the 3gp from my cellphone.
And I never had any issues or conflicts with any game (including Fallout3 and Oblivion which are known to be quite iffy to codecs).

CCCP. Least conflicts and best stability out of all of them.

I use to be a fan of klite, but a thread some time ago pointed me to cccp, which I have installed now. Ain't much of a difference imho.

more votes and reviews plz..

any reviews of shark's codec pack?

CCCP is what I use hands down. No issues, switched over from K-Lite 2 years ago. Never going to go back!

CCCP is the best. It is common knowledge really. ;)

I use KLite, it simple and never had a problem with it. I use VLC player for my video's and some MP3's though.

Windows Media Player hasn't given me any problems yet, but I have yet to try Windows Media Center as it's usually the most pickiest.

So it also will depend on your media player in my opinion.

but it wont let us play videos in any programms like even in mediacenter.
Is it true?

I use media player classic, zoom player, and Winamp. Windows media center should use the codecs too but I never try with it since it is not my player of choice for anything.

can u try and post for windows media center?

also try in windows media player.

Try .mkv or other format which isnt normally played by these players before installing codec.
Thanks.

Just tried, it works in both as I thought. Used HD 720p and 1080p mkv's. ;)

Why I use CCCP:

Looks sweet. 720P MKV.

Too bad the JPG quality of TPU Capture is bad. Whatever. You get the idea.

I had some issues with gom player with some mkv files, it was slowing playback (slow motion) during some files while watching songs ot reversing or forwarding it..

so i looked for cccp update butcodec hasnt updated for almost 1 yr and more..
which codec/player do u guys recommended?

gom/mediaplayerclassic/vlc?
or which codec?

Oh you filthy necro...

Windows 10 + Movies & TV (default video player) + K-Lite codec pack is my way to go.

GOM and VLC sucks when HW acceleration is needed.

Are you still using Vista? If not, then bumping this ancient necro thread was the wrong thing to do. Just start a new thread and people will help you.

According to his system specs he's using windows 7 now.

According to my system a thread that is more than 6.5 years old should be never resurrected, I would suggest that if the Op has issues that are more up to date with a different OS they might want to start a new thread.
