Can PCI version affects nvme speed?

In order to see the speed difference between the two standards, I have changed the pci version to 4 to 1 and tested with Crystal mark at the very same conditions. But according to the results, there is neglible change (in favour for ver 4).. So here is my question, shouldn't the pciex-1 version supposed to has lower speed in comparision to version 4? Thats so close to within errata margins I dont even consider that a difference.

Either you didn't save the setting in BIOS, or you may have changed the PCIE slot speed, not the M2.

That is the settings I was changing

not the M2.

Good point. I haven't seen any M2 settings in bios. Maybe that was my fault or that setting even not exists

Its rare to find the option to change the M.2 Gen. Even on PCIe, often its just changing from Gen4 to Gen3, etc and not the actual bus. Often when you can change the bus link, its because that PCIe slot is shared with another.
