Yes, their OWN gift cards.. Not gift cards that are made via VISA, Mastercard, Discovery. Why would I lie about something I went myself to do???

Oooooooooooooooh. lol :slap: Its time to go home I think

nah, it's just funny I had 3 gift cards, two where discover card ones that can be used a different places, and one Circuit City card.. They didn't take the discover card ones, but the circuit city one worked fine.

I'm just glad that when I ever use gift cards, I make sure to have the cash to cover it..

For those wondering about The Source by CC:

The Source by Circuit City electronics stores will remain open in Canada as its domestic parent looks for a buyer for the 765 domestic stores.

Even while the U.S. owner of the Source announced that its stores south of the border were being liquidated, InterTAN Canada Ltd., its Canadian subsidiary, said that it is in talks with “a number” of interested bidders. The company expects to receive formal offers by Jan. 23.

Dang. Ah well I bet The Source will go down in flames too. And when they do I'll be one of the vultures circling. Maybe I should take this opportunity to sabotage some corporate business deals.

Well I haven't bought anything from BB in years. I buy everything online or from mom and pop shops. BB is WAY over priced and crooked to boot.

it goes on sale for the same price it is online stores have to use markup you know that right. its kinda how retail works. they dont move 10 million pieces of memory like newegg does so it has to be marked up some. oh and just so you know BBY may be bad but newegg is marking cables, rosewill cases, ram, and several other things at well over 100% i work at BBY i know what things cost that PNY ram may be marked up at BBY but even at the egg its still 100% over my cost.

Markup I agree with. I also dont want you to lose your job. However the markup at BB is insane. I have two friends that work their and I used to get stuff at cost. BB is good for some things. Just not the majority of things. Anyway the ram was just an example.

Again I agree with markup but DAMN IT!
Another example.

There are reasons for Best Buys prices, they aren't just trying to rip people off. Their overhead is far greater than any online retailer.

this is what people dont understand and thanks for pointing it out newtekie.

everytime an on sale laptop walks out the front doors of BBY we loose anywhere from $150-300, there is on average $27 worth of markup on things not on sale. so think that through if i were to sell just desktops everyday BBY would go bankrupt plain and simple. now to compensate for that i the salesman try's to get a ram upgrade when on sale a 4GB upgrade is ~$50+$39.99 for install ok on an on sale PC that just dropped my average $250 deficit to $190. now if i get you to purchase a 2yr black tie plan with it that number goes positive so now i have made ~$50. if on top of that you purchase GS services lets say you got an HP i can get the PC loaded up set up and protected. thats $159 and includes the software price. so now i have made around $150 out of a $250 deficit.

Best Buy will readily price match any advertised price by a competitor, that means HH Gregg, Wal-mart, MC, ect. Retail just can't match online in many respects for many reasons. Desktop computer stuff definitely shop elsewhere (online). You want a TV or laptop though it doesn't get much better than some of the prices they have, only some places like Brandsmart and HH can compete if your slick (they are on sales numbers based commission at those places, so they will sometimes drop the prices to ridiculous levels if you can sell a salesman). CC sucked though. My local one just closed down, I moseyed over to check it out and found it wasn't worth the gas I used. They had half missing laptops for prices that barely matched holiday sales over at BB. I wouldn't get too excited. You never know though, you may find a gem.

it doesn't have to be advertised as long as BBY can see proof of the price ie the stores website we will match it

The price on the stores website would be an example of an advertised price (if the price is listed somewhere, it is their advertised price). I made that distinction b/c BB will not match prices given "under the table" by salesmen at Brandsmart or HHGregg.

the one near me closed it's doors a month or two ago... the sales there sucked... Their "sale" price was off of the msrp, so usually about normal price if not like maybe 10% off :shadedshu
