Circuit Citys no return liquidation sales will start soon. -rubs hands- I knew alot of people at a store by me since it was my previous job. A shame.

Well, it sucks, but CC always did suck. I haven't bought anything from them since 94 or 95. I always go to Best Buy, or Frys, or Newegg. I am curious to see their sales though, may be a good time to pick up a cheap HDTV.

I was thinking of getting my mom a computer for like 300 bucks lol. My friend matt is trying to get a TV, so me and him are gonna go when they start these sales. I have a feeling it'll be a frenzy.

This might actually be a good thing for the area I live in. There's a dozen BB's, 5 CC's and a MicroCenter. With CC out of the way Best Buy might have to compete with MicroCenters much more reasonable prices, or failing that, they might have to start competing with ONLINE sites that simply crush them in all aspects short of B+M location.

Or they'll shoot prices through the roof after killing their largest competitor :shrug:

I'm definitely going to have to keep my eye on the HDTVs, hopefully they have some good deals. Usually, everyone buys those up during the first price drop though, which hardly saves you anything anyway.

That's the worst part of this - less competition for Best Buy. I never was much of a CC fan, but at least there was another option.

And to others - don't get all excited about liquidation, they are hiring 4 liquidation companies... they come in, jack the prices up 25%, then put a 25% off tag on everything. Usually prices are higher than any sale you'll see and most close to retail. Can't return items either.

I just got off the phone with a friend that works there said like DVD's are going to be like $10, HDTV's have like a 30% drop, and said that the Xbox's are only dropping like $20.

The CC closest to me closed up last month. Their liquidation prices sucked. They put everything at original MSRP, then discounted from there, meaning the prices were still higher than everywhere else, especially online stores. I'll check online periodically to see if there is anything I can't live without, but I'm not holding out hope for any decent sales.

hopefully the tiger direct buy out will turn out well.
the consumers should end up with much better prices.

circuitcity isn't a major competitor to bestbuy. they haven't been for the past 8yrs.
