Anyway, Crytek are correct that their sales aren't what they should be... thanks to piracy. I mean look, crysis remains as one of the most heavily pirated games I've ever seen LOL.
piracy is a lame excuse to use. how do they know how many people pirated the game and how do they know if those people didn't go out and buy it. the demo was very lame and the reason i did not spend $60 on it. plus, back then it crippled my system. those are two more logical reasons to use then blaming it on piracy. also, don't forget that COD4 came out around the same time, which played better and had much nice muliplayer interface. imagine that, competition! no wonder EA is making excuses.
EA is only a publisher in this case. They didn't do anything with the game development. Piracy
IS a valid reason. They can easily check, pop onto Mininova/Isohunt and cry over the fact that countless numbers of the torrents were downloaded.
If you were a game developer, have a think, would you be happy if your company's assets went down the drain? I wouldn't be. While there is something called profit loving game developers, Crytek aren't what I would call that, as they do actually care about their game. Its funny how the first person to post always affects everyone else in threads like these....
SIGH.
And anyway, we aren't talking about comparing game sales. We are talking about the "low sales" of crysis. Thanks to piracy. With this... I think we may see Crysis being the last game that Crytek will develop for the PC. Its too easy to pirate on the PC, its not that easy on the newer consoles on the other hand. Moreover you don't get people bitching about poor perf since their PCs suck. I see a lot of developers are now taking that stance...
Example: Rockstar averted the problems of poor perf by releasing GTA4 on consoles at first. They also protected their sales, and made a smart choice of releasing it on PC later (to cut out the problems that would plague it-if there would be any..)
