dead space remake: same game with better graphics?

I hated DS3 and only beat it because my buddy wanted to play it co op. I loved DS1 and 2 though.

Seems most that don't like DS3 don't give a reason up front, so I have to ask, why didn't you like it? There may be some points I agree with you on.

Too much action, too little horror.

Something like this yes tho I'm not sure if it was the co-op that made it feel different.
I only played DS 3 cause a friend bought 2 copies and gave me one and asked me to play it with him.

I'm a fairly easy to scare person when playing horror games and DS 1+2 did that a lot at the time. 'whole atmosphere, sounds and some monster designs/boss fights and in overall those games creeped the hell out of me'

Dead Space 3, well the scariest part was when I was busy focusing on my weapon upgrades and as soon as I closed the upgrade window my friend kicked over a soda can or whatever trash in the game and it made a loud noise and it scared me. 'rest of the game yeah no it was more like an action shooter'

Maybe if I were to play it on my own I would have a different opinion but to me DS 3 is clearly the worst in the serie and I consider it more like a side game.

Are you assimilating Whitenoise? :D

Seriously though, yeah that's usually the typical response. I've even seen some refer to the cutscenes in DS1 when they say more horror, but to me, that kind of horror only really grips you the first play through. I also always asked those saying DS1 had more horror if they ever tried playing through all the optional dungeons in DS3. Many hadn't, and some didn't even answer. I've never tried it, but I think playing DS3 on Classic mode would be interesting.

For me it didn't feel like a Dead Space game at all and it certainly wasn't the horror game I was expecting. It was turned into an action game and just seemed to drone on and on.
I didn't mind the co op bit and I think DS and DS2 would have been cool as a co op too. Like have each player split up to do different shit on the ship and meet back up at the end of chapters or something. That could have been interesting for sure.

Or even simply have the team work together on the same objective, as going anywhere alone on a monster-infested space ship is clearly a bad idea.

Did you play all the optional dungeons in the base game, and the DLC Awakened? Awakened was a lot harder than the base game and is really difficult to play on Impossible from a fresh start. You can run out of ammo and health easily, so now I usually play it on NG+ It also is more horror oriented.

I've read the Awakened DLC for Dead Space 3 was better than the base game. If DS3 goes on sale I might buy it just to get to the DLC.

Yea I also find it kinda weird when someone is bothered by 'not realistic' parts in a game when the entire game is a fiction not based on reality.
It has more to do with the writers/directors creating a fictional universe that doesn’t have bits defying the laws of the universe they’ve defined. Or sometimes the issue is not defining enough, resulting in the ambiguity exposing the plot armour and breaking immersion.

I liked Dead Space (even the animated movie) but the jump scares through the air vents got old.

ive played the original 2x, with the remake im gonna wait until its on sale

Agreed. The atmosphere is nice, but the overuse of jump scares doesn't seem to get me.

Hell no! lol I hated that game and as soon as it was finished I was like...oh thank god. I quickly moved on to something else.

The game is a complete rebuild but keeps the basics in tact. The story is updated to where Isaac actually speaks, some of the plot holes/missing plot points are fixed with what I think is a genius update to the twist at the end, all the weapons feel useful, the missions were updated and many aspects were fixed that were problems in the past, the graphics are amazing, and the sounds design is fantastic.

I was a huge fan of the original but I can safely say while I can still play the original, this game does fix alot of the problems the original had and makes it feel like a new game without straying too far from what the original game was.

Well if you chose to skip the optional dungeon missions, you missed some of the best parts of the game, and they are more horror oriented and slower paced, just sayin. I also feel that anyone that feels DS3 is trash compared to the others due to too much action is kind of glossing over the many action heavy parts of 2. To each their own I guess, I mean at least you finished the game, but if you didn't play all parts of it, you really don't know it 100%.

Is it true they didn't add RT though, and if so, are they planning to eventually add it?

Just have to say, kudos to whoever designed this forum to so easily add quotes of other people you're responding to. I love how it just automatically gets added to your reponse when you click someone else's reply tab. This is literally the only forum I chat on that does that.

It has Ray Tracing, the setting to enable it is Quality mode on the Xbox Series X.

OK, thanks, I was almost sure the one here whom claimed it didn't have it was wrong, but not 100% sure.

I guess that's one more game I can add to the list to justify an upgrade to a 4000 series GPU.

I played them all, liked them all, and I'm really finding this equally enjoyable. Linear, yes, but then, so is any enclosed environment, but you can travel back and forth, so it's not uni-directional as some FPS games can be (finish one area and it's gone forever).

i liked playing them all and ill play the new one when it comes down in price, as for monsters coming out the vents its a game and a game should not have to follow real world phyisics to be good.

I played them all, liked them all...

Thank God I'm not the only one, I was starting to feel almost alien.

Just to balance the love and loathing a bit, what did you like most about Dead Space 3?

Unfortunately, "monsters coming out of vents" is the only thing I can say about the game so far (I'm in Episode 4 of the original release). I'll keep playing, hopefully it'll get more interesting eventually. :)

The atmosphere is keeping me hooked, but I hope it won't be the only thing right until the end.

Dead Space wasn't such a great game that I would want to play it again.
The things people say these days...

Sarcasm aside, if you didn't appreciate the original, I don't see why you'd do this one.
Well, unless you've had too much of an issue with silent protagonists and iron-man-esque helmets...

The whole idea that some of those massive monsters could fit in air vents became ridiculous
I doubt "necro"morphs mind the joint dislocation and internal organ displacement.

To be honest, I didn't dislike DS3, I just didn't like it as much as its predecessors. I enjoyed the weapon-crafting mechanic because it added a nice bit of variability and allowed you to customise your playstyle, but it was rather incongruous in a so-called horror franchise.

Since I didn't play the DLC or anything extra, I can't comment on it but what I can say is, I really did not enjoy DS3 and was just thankful it was over. My buddy on the other hand really enjoyed the game. :)
