Do I need to order a new drive?

Other than this I am still awaiting Proshop the online seller to response on why my X18 drive which was brand new factory sealed is out of warranty and is listed as "This product was originally sold as a part of a larger system. Please contact the system manufacturer or your place of purchase for warranty support."

Seriously they are slow responding, I told them the matter why I want this fixed ASAP because I used the drive as a backup so it's not like I can ship it back to them with all my data on :banghead:

If items are sold as a complete package, you tend to have to return the entire thing.

If you buy a dell laptop you can't warranty the RAM seperately - it's all or nothing.

This doesn't always happen sadly.

An update, I spoke with a person from Proshop, he cannot see they have done anything wrong when they don't list/write anything about warning about the product they sell.

Screen capture of the product (In Danish):

Well my thoughts are now, what will their next step be starting selling OEM or Bulk GPU's with only 2years of "right to complaint" where they themself validate the product for exchange or money back.

I am really disappointed in this and Proshop even banned so Google cannot translate their site:

This was before this experience one of the online hardware shops I trusted the most.

Right now I really wish I had just ordered a X16 again even I know the X18 have better technologi than the X16 but to get a "Genuine" Seagate product not something that wasn't meant to be sold outside a bigger order.

Was just wondering how things got to P:
Haha, I have a way of labelling my drive letters for the purpose of my use case.

Like if I use a drive for Scan I attend to use the drive letter S: if you can follow me :)

Unfortunately a lot of retailers seem to sell OEM and bulk enterprise HDDs without warranty under the same listing as drives carrying a warranty. It's highly misleading to consumers. It's why most of my drives purchased have been refurbished Exos drives, which typically carry a 5 year warranty (make sure the seller explicitly states this though as even with this some may not).

Compumail.dk here in DK has also been confirmed with "whitelabel" hdd's even they list 5 years warranty it's only 2 years when confront them with a issue with the drive.

This is even more misleading.

Yeah, white labels have an even lower value than OEM / bulk drives. I'm not sure how they get away with doing that.

They are brought in bulk according to Seagate when you check the message on mine because they are only made to be in "systems" which sounds like you send a bid to Seagate for xxxx amounts of hdds and you get a good price, then they are delivered in anti-static bags in like form packaging up to like 24 drives or what every the normal size is of the packaging can hold.

I know because I have done a few of these things for server storage at work where I been send form packaging that could hold xx amount of drives but wasn't filled up all the way but it's the best way to send them by carrier.

But these drives sometimes make it to market buy is usually marked OEM or Bulk and come with a lower warranty, but not labeling them is misleading I believe.

I've got to ask, what does the P: represent? :D
