Bethesda made a significant announcement that's bound to divide opinion among "Fallout" fans. The next entry to the franchise, "Fallout 76," which was announced a little earlier this month, was detailed a little further by the studio at its pre-E3 presser. Turns out, that the game doesn't have a full single-player experience, that it's online-only, and that you'll need to team up with three other online players to complete the important parts of the game's campaign.

Bethesda reaffirmed that while you can try to go it alone with the campaign, key parts of it involve quasi tower-defence elements, in which you cooperate with up to three other players to build a base, maintain it, fight bosses together, fend off attacks from rival teams, and pillage other team's bases for loot. In other words, it's next to impossible to finish the campaign on your own. Fallout 76 arrives this November.

Disappointing, but not surprising, the fact that F04 was SP was surprising to me, and those nukes look like a bad idea.

Sounds like boring as f**k. Tower defense...pfff.
Guess the devs are getting more and more lazy and bored. Good luck with your sh*t. I guess there will be a lot of suckers to buy this...

Part of me is interested, part of me expects this to be a massive flop

I am snitching up FO4 VR and Skyrim VR this summer sale. No needs to play these online only games now when incan kill tons of time in FO4 VR

Thinking about getting the Lenovo Explorer for $200.

"It's a crap son" (Beneath the steel sky!)

Oh look a fornite clone, at least they didn't crib a Battle Royale gamemode while they were at it.

Edit: When did games go from each game trying to bring an experience different from the competition to every game trying to bring the same exact experience?

I've got one of the WMD HR's, love it, do not enjoy Fo4 VR in the slightest

Some games are just better playing alone. I have the entire Fallout game catalog. It is a shame I won't be getting the next one if it is indeed true I will be forced to do multiplayer. Bad move Bethesda.

seems i'l will fall-out from this part.....no sp meh..

So basically the whole game is one big battle royale. Ill pass.

Because Elder Scrolls Online was a huge succes?

I wonder if it will have a monthly subscription fee. Thats the only thing that would stop me.

a repeat fail like Sim City had when it wanted to be online only.

I can see the appeal of a multiplayer Fallout. Fallout could be fun with a giant map playing with your friends exploring the wastelands. The keyword there is "friends" I dont want to play with randoms. Give us the ability to host a dedicated multiplayer server, and maybe the idea would work. But a tower defense MMO? That screams 'mobile phone game'.

I predict this will make a lot of money, but it will flop int he fact that longtime fans loose faith in the franchise, and future proper fallouts will fail to sell well, resulting in the eventual death of the franchise if it isnt relegated to mobile phone/flash games. Just like many current lootbox/micro-transaction laden garbage released this generation.

friends meaning co-op...

I kinda expect loot chests

Did you watch Bethesda's e3 conference? He specifically said that yes it will be multiplayer, but single player is still there for the die hard fans. You get to choose what you want. Single or Multiplayer. Where are you getting your info from OP?

So, the campaigns will be nearly impossible to complete solo? Ok, guess we'll see some hardcore players brag about how they beat the game by themselves...

Other than that, it's kind of a pity

Nah, they talked about game difficulty in the conference as well. I don't expect the single player to be any harder than the previous installments based on what they said. And the multiplayer is going to have a limit on how many people you actually see online. In like the 20 people range and you won't get to see any server information, you can invite your friends to you, and all game saves transfer with you in multiplayer mode and single player mode.

well that they wqnt, you can buy game but not really own it.
just b-shit.

single player mode must be there, lets make it clear.

boycott and leave it store.

also i say long time, abandon game consoles, dont buy them.

its only way to make customer/payer king.

soon all games can use only online and 1 hour pay 10$

the games exhausting, and some of the more enjoyable things are a lot less fun in VR. simple things like hitting a goddamn target are a lot harder, which massively ups the difficulty of the game - when i tried it, you couldnt even use sniper scopes at all, basically making combat VATS only

Too bad it's an always online game. Maybe pirates can fix it.
