"... the Denuvo 5.0 protection served its purpose as the game sold nearly five million copies in its first week. "

And if the game was cracked on day 1, the game would have sold nearly five million copies in its first week.

DRM in games is getting ridiculous... Why won't someone try to sell games without DRM, see what happens...??
They do. Check out GOG.com. With few exceptions, that is were I buy all of my PC games. No DRM or copy protections of any kind and prices are very good!

The Problem is not DRM
That is just completely incorrect. DRM is, and always has been, a problem!

Oops! You beat me to it. :rockout: :peace:

I figured out all the issues people are having with this game testing the scene release.

I did a clean install of windows (8.1) on a spare drive with no os tweaks, no tuning, nothing. Installed game played a bit saved not a single issue. It's really well optimized.
Any kind of tweak like services etc will break this game.

So if anyone has issues with the legit version a clean windows install could be your answer.

@natr0n Maybe it could be just that... Maybe it's just some folks who forgot to turn off Windows update & Update orchestrator since that could be the few main reasons why the game borked on them... Still, a handful of haters isn't going to affect others who enjoyed playing FC5 & probably already finished the whole game at the hardest difficulty.

At least some one remembered although TW3 was not their only one.
StarDock used to release DRM-free games, too. But a series of unfortunate releases did them in.

Don't you see, this is the real DRM. Release a broken game, and patch it slowly over time with multiple releases. Most pirate groups don't keep releasing updates, they might do one or two, but that's usually it.

This is closer to the truth than many might think ;)

I’ve now played both scene and legit. Both run the same as far as I’m concerned which is pretty good by all accounts. No bugs or glitches in either. Worth the purchase regardless.

I had to do a clean install on my laptop for it to run correctly. That was also untweaked stock, but an original acer branded install. Performance was about half what it should have been with occasionally graphics issues. Clean install fixed all of that. Have seen one coding issues (you can parachute through the ground), but outside of that I haven't had issues.

I actually like the game and play it co-op with my brother. Neither of us has had an issue.

That’s not a sign of a well-made game if so many people had to do clean installs just to install and run the game properly. To me, that’s a serious issue.

DRM sucks, not douts there.

But for once Ubisoft release a game that runs properly i dont have problems with DRM or how the game it self runs. FC4 is another story for me, that ran like crap.
Weird, played a few hours ago and runs smoothly 74fps on everything maxed out. When I tried it with GTX 680 3 years ago, 2GB VRAM just wasn't enough.

But I agree, if the game is fine, I don't mind with DRMs.

Ah, Stardock... all the goodwill in the world couldn't save it from deciding to release Elemental: War of Magic in such an obviously messy state. More messed up than Aliens: Colonial Marines in my opinion, except that E:WoM was a indie turn-based strategy game and not a AAA first-person shooter so less eyeballs were on it.

This is the reason why I rarely buy Single Player games on PC. They are not cheaper than console at launch, even on cd key websites, and there is no re sell value. For PS4 I can get it for 50€, play it for 1 week, finish, and sell for 40€. Or I can buy it 1 or 2 years later for 30€ and sell it for 20€ or 15€ when I want.

And please don´t tell me you still play your 500 single player games on your steam library that you finished 10 years ago. Just don´t, that´s wasted money there.

I can't say I play all of my titles, but I have gone back on quite a few of them to replay from start to finish. I enjoy the luxury of having my own library.

I thought this was why you now got to go through something like steam / origin / uplay ?

what they need to do is release the games back on full retail disks and screw all that malware clients and content , sell me a PC game like it use to be and how it should be and not agree to something as this like from steam

''
you must have a Steam Account and you may be required to be running the Steam client and maintaining a connection to the Internet.

For reasons that include, without limitation, system security, stability, and multiplayer interoperability, Steam may need to automatically update, pre-load, create new versions of or otherwise enhance the Content and Services and accordingly, the system requirements to use the Content and Services may change over time. You consent to such automatic updating''

ya sure I will agree to ''For reasons that include, without limitation, system security / You consent to such automatic updating''

you got to be nutts to agree to something like that '' without limitation '' understand what that means and you agree to that over a crap game you don't get to use or play unless thety allow you to ??

I guess P.T Barnum was right 'a sucker is born every second ''

what could we not do back when games were sold fully on the disk ? one thing is not stipulate to them steam type clients or need internet to load and play or consent to updating or content . if you wanted or needed a patch or something you just go get it if not that's ok as well ..

I don't have to wroor about not able to play a game cause there server is down , your kidding right ? then I run my own server for MP and I control all that as I see fit .

ya, these steam uplay, origin deals are nothing but a joke ripoff scheme . malware data collection service first before you get to play ... lol... enjoy 'there game '' cause it not yours in any way

Before that they had Demigod which was a DOTA clone they never really figured out.
A shame, really, I bought a retail box of GalCivII that I never got to play (just wanted to show support). But in the end I think it goes to show that good intentions alone aren't enough to build a business.
When things started going downhill they also sold Impulse to GameStop which killed it. Impulse could have been what is today GOG Galaxy (can you tell that I really, really hate DRM?).

Who runs Windows in complete standard mode? I personally have never run Windows the way it runs default. Even back in the Win 3.1 days I customized. If FC5 needs a bog standard Windows install, no thank you, pass. That assumes they get smart and get rid of the DRM someday..

Yes, but is the issue the game or garbage windows updates? It isn't always the games fault.

In Brad's blog post, he claimed he made that deal not for money, but because basically, Impulse was killing their internal company culture. He described the cashflow as "toxic."

If you are talking about fc4. I got it on lauch day back in 2014 and it dit not ran well and i tried it a year ago again still the same problem. Lag spikes very often and crashed also a few times + stutter and ghosting. Had two gtx 970 in sli and a i7 920 oc to 4 ghz. So hardware cant run i shut not be the problem and it stil had lag spikes with out sli as well.

FC5 runs by far better here at lauch than FC4 ever dit for me at lauch and the time after that.

So out of curiosity I have tested this on my main desktop I have not reimaged that machine in about a year so it has done 2 or 3 major windows updates. No issues with this game. That being said we are talking 2-3 times as much performance as my laptop bandaiding any issues. So I wouldn't call it definitive just curious.

Yeah, about FC4. On my stream people said that there was lag spikes and other crap.

played FC4 super smooth on my end though... version 1.5.0 of the game solved tons of issues. Settings? all High, no MSAA, Nvidia GameWorks turned on @ 1080p. Yielded 60+fps which is decent considering the 4th game is more demanding than the 5th game. Don't see the problem in games unless one is taking the system requirements too serious & expects to get 60fps at the highest possible settings without seeing frame-tearing or other issues that could ruin the whole experience...

Newer again buy new products like mobile phones, games, video cards- because then they cost more, you won't get any protection, no updates and product is even worse.
Especially EA, Activision (who only copy everything whats good brainwashing games) some of them haw not updated 10 years vs Valve.
These games i maybe can sell after 20 years but not downloadable.
