I have its bigger brother and its been serving me well.

Good thing about it, that board will definately unlock the right 720B.E.

It clocks alot better than the 9850. Also put out alot less heat, has 2mb more cache.
I think its a better chip.

BTW I had a 9950B.E before this.

Poor cooling and low quality parts. Gigabyte's first batch of AMD boards were total ass. I had two of their first batch 780G's die on me. The 790X DS4 is one of those first waves of boards.

Yea, i added a fan and swaped stock Heatsync past to arctic silver on the NB, and that fixed that (not that it was crashing or anthing) just to be safe.

But Its a good board, not low quality parts, and ive had no problem with it whatsoever.

when i was buying i tossed up between Ds4 and DQ6 the only major diffrence was $100 dollars and quad fire, im never gonna chuck 4 graphics cards in anyway.

All in all its a good board. AM3 compatable, 1066, crosfire x. good sound chip. heaps of overclocking features and it has good reviews.
all in all its a good board. Bang for Buck

DQ6 would be a good server board (talk about all the PCIe4/e8 controllers)

Is SCYTHE ZIPANG (SCZP-1000) compatible with GIGABYTE GA-M720-US3?

Is this mobo a better choice (for PII 720) than GA-MA790X-DS4?

Is GA-MA780G-UD3H much better than GA-MA-790X DS4?

its a little bit better in a few areas, the fact that it supports ddr2 1200 is gonna be better ram speed , it also has 2 more sata controlers(that means 2 more hard drives)

theym both have crossfireX meaning you can chuck 2 graphix cards in to it, Better from a Gaming point of view

And yes you can put that Scythe ZIPANG on it, I think it will be the clip on the left. un suer on that though, its haed to see form that picture. iw will be in the manual anyway, if you dont have the manual you might be able to download it :)

if you alredy own the ds4 i wouldnt upgrade that yet, wait for the next sreies of chipsets that support ddr3 and put what ever extra money you have in to some 1066 ram when you get your Phenom II, you might also wann look at getting a grunter Powersupply unit

Also read what i said earler about the fan on the NorthBridge chipset, (thats the one just above the top graphics card slot), you can add a fan without even taking the Motherboard out, just screw it straght onto the heatsync, if you need a pictuer or any thing just ask

its not really an upgrade to the PII 720 for you anyway.
Even my athlon x2 6400+ beats it outright in most benchmarks.

Your a few days late for Aprils fools, but I will let you have that one.

The Phenom II 720 X3 is on par with the Phenom II X4s. Even beats out the i7 in some benchmarks, especially gaming ones,

That would be true in some cases with the Phenom I's but the Phenom II's are technically better unlike the Phenom I's. They have 6mb of cache vs 2mb, they can do 3.6-3.8ghz for 24/7 clocks..

As for the 780G vs 790X, where are you finding these boards? I would rather have the GA-MA780G-UD3H because it's one of the gigabyte's newer boards and like I said before, their older first wave of AMD boards were very bad.

your board isnt that bad, the only problem with it is that the northbridge cooler kinda sucks and has no mosfet coolers and only 4 sata, otherwise is an OK board. just put two 4850 and watch the magic happens ;)

if u feel like upgrading get this

that's the SB not the NB. SB runs cooler. And to the man who wants to break the current world record with the 6400+, please bring it on.
