Galaxy Rolls-out New GeForce GTS 250 With Faster Memory

and ill say this, no matter what rabbits ATI ever pull out of their hat, Nvidia has an answer, maybe not THE answer, but an answer.

as per that, i think Nvidia will have, at least, a counterpart, they generally do.

This is possibly the best 9800GTX+/GTS 250 that is out to date. The 0.8ns (effectively 1,150MHz stock, I believe) Samsung memory just makes it even more awesome.

I'm hoping the price will be around the $110 mark. I'd get this one since I've been using GALAXY products (FX5700 Ultra back then, recent 9800GT with dual-BIOS, etc.) for a while now.

Ahahahahaha? not funny. 4770 is nothing. If ATI is the man and has balls it should make this card 256bit instead of 128bit and still behind the 4850.

GTX 250 is the king.

128bit GDDR5 has the same bandwidth as 256bit GDDR3. GDDR5 is quad data rate not dual thats how it accomplishes that.

I wonder how this varient of G92 fairs up against the Ati 4850 now that its got new ram. the 4850 was a more powerful then the 9800GTX+'s series cards. myabe their on a level playing field now?

though I have to say the clocks on this new card are a little pedestrian. I mean Core:738 Shader:1836??? Seriously. its a G92. you can crank that core up to 780Mhz & shaders up to 1945 at least.

they really need to pre overclock that beast otherwise it will continue to lag behind the competition. performance & most possibly price wise. Id like to see the $$$ they're gonna put this on the shelf for.

ATI 4850 is not faster than 9800gtx+. go look at the benchmarks. and now 9800gtx+ is NOT a 8800GT or whatever.

And plus 9800gtx+ is more effecient than ATI 4850.

FreedomEclipse: you have to get your facts straight. 4850 was never faster than 9800gtx+ except in maybe 1 or 2 games. And they were optimized for ATI cards only.

9800gtx+ is superior to ATI 4850.

GTX250 ALL THE WAY. No need to buy a 4870 or higher when we can buy this good card for cheap price.

and I hate ATI and i hope and wish they get out of business as soon as possible.

cdawall: fatter memory buss is better than having GDDR5. its more effecient. ATI just wanted to use a cheap method of doing the same thing which is not effecient.

wolf: and your 295 will be soon outdated. and you will regret you purchased it soon. :)

and from your brag, it looks like that you are almost entirely devoid of any remotely decent or fully functional features

Okay, now that it was established Beta34 is a troll at worst, or an extreme fanboy at best - we can safely avoid any of his input. It makes little sense as is.

mmm...

Wow. what a fast cheap card. G92 based cards are in here to stay for a very long time because of their superior performance and quality. I already have one of these and I can play all my games on very high settings. I dont get whats the hate with the G92 based cards that some people have.

whats wrong with this cheap fast card? Not everyone can afford a gtx260 or above as they are overly expensive.

and Mussels: I am sure that a heavy clocked GTX 250 is as fast as 1 ATI 4870 if not faster :).

I have clocked my 250 at 815mhz core, 1350mhz memory and 1960mhz shader. and i can play every games smoothly on high settings.

Dude you remind me of that guy gonzalez, you even have the same oc on your 250:nutkick:

well faster memory is always good it should get a little bump in performance:roll:

beta 34 is a ban evader. he goes bye bye... you can ignore his posts, he is merely trolling.

Technically GDDR5 isn't QDR its DDR but it has two more paths over GDDR3 and 4 so thats why it has double the bandwidth.

GDDR5 has double the bandwidth, but yeah you still cant call it QDR.

I thought it was QDR as well but bta told me it had extra paths and so did wiki.

i dont care about the technicalities myself, i just know its twice as fast :)

I'm fascinated by how they work although I usually don't understand it

i understand digital HDTV and think its normal. i know how it all works. i look at analogue TV or an FM radio and shit myself, cause i have no freaking idea how that works over a coat hangar aerial.

Digital is easier to understand for me because I have no idea about bandwidth and frequencies. Even though there is the same stuff digital TV.

GDDR5 does indeed provide double the bandwidth, but you guys arent looking at the whole equation, latency.

GDDR5 latencies are considerably higher than GDDR3 as i understand it, like like DDR2 -> DDR3

Yep but its still faster since the other two pipelines are running at the same latency as the other two there isn't much of a penalty. Its providing double the bandwidth of GDDR5 at the same latency that it would if it only had 2 pipes. Assuming thats how it works

look at DDR vs DDR2. 2-2-2-5 latencies vs 4-4-4-12 (lowest commercially available latencies on kits)

Remember that the higher the MHz, the lower the actual latency response of the ram. You can make one faster to counter the other.

That is one of the nicest heatsink stickers I've seen. Would the Samsung memory really be much of a difference is the question.

looks like they removed almost 50% of the metal slats blocking the exhaust too, good job Galaxy:toast:

Why are they slats there anyway ? are they expecting a mouse to crawl up it ?

most likely to prevent fingers, spiders etc crawling in there.

If theres an open hole and something fits in it, someone can be sued for a bad design.

See I thought hmm maybe design ? nah. Safety, not like anyone could stick their finger up there or anything else , Insects maybe they would crawl inbetween the slats (at least here in GB. I know in oz you have spiders that are fairly huge) I honestly couldn't think of a proper reason.

lol, fairly huge.

googled for that guy.

I always noted that vents on cases, PSUs etc never seem to be big enough to fit a pen in. Like i said, if some kid stuck a pen in the PSU and the PC caught fire - someone (americans ofc) would sue, claiming it was a bad design and had no warnings that it wasnt safe.
