Geforce GTX 460 Flashed To Geforce GTX 560

I have a POV TGT Charged edition Geforce GTX 460 1 GB and i have a feeling that GTX460 can be flashed to GTX 560, reason being they have the same spex,

Can any one do a research, i am willing to try out the findings with may GTX 460,

I think it can be done using a bios Flash

when anyone finds any Bios flash method post it and i will try it on my card

Post Procedure and necessary
tools + Bios

Not possible. GTX560 has different silicon.

yap GTX460 is based on GF104 and GTX560 is based on GF114 so it's not a named card ^^

you are almost guaranteed to brick as you are flashing a completely different card's bios, might as well flash it to a 6600gt....

and also i believe they have improved the memory controller of the GTX5XX series so it is even more unlikely

you mayaswell flash your GTX460 to have GTX560 clock speeds, provided they are tested as stable, then you have as-good-as a GTX560, albeit it will consume more power and probably run hotter.

performance should be identical.

he would need to push the memory more as the GTX5XX have got a faster controller hence why the GTX5XX have such good performance

Give me some stable clocks that are higher than the POV TGT Charged GTX 460 1GB, i will be very thankful, Post a bios that will work with my card

You're more likely to be able to flash a 560 to a Ti, though it's probably laser cut. We won't know until someone tries. As I recall it took a bit of time before people figured out it could be done with a 6950.

it wont work MEMORY CONTROLLER is different
and anyway you can't laser cut a different core!
AKA Theoretically speaking, the GeForce GTX 560 Ti should be 48% faster than the GeForce GTX 460 overall, due to its higher data rate.
GeForce GTX 560 Ti 128256 MB/sec
GeForce GTX 460 86400 MB/sec

Difference: 41856 (48%)

the controller is better yes, but if both are clocked the same (4000 mhz QDR) the provide the same bandwidth and performance should be identical, unless better (read: lower latency) GDDR5 chips are used on the 560.

just upp the voltage on MSI afterburner to around 1000-1050mv, clock her at 810 core and effective 4000 memory, if it is stable you could modify your own bios in Nibitor to those clocks/volts and flash that on and voila, Id be very surprised if it were any slower than a reference GTX560.

however if youre already using MSI Afterburner I wouldnt even flash it anyway, make a profile and have it apply from system startup, done.

I'm not sure, but I just flashed my GTX 560 Ti to an HD 6990 and it worked just fine.

Seriously though, this won't work. They're not even the same core.

I'm interested to hear why you think the memory controller is different based on higher memory bandwidth due to higher stock memory clocks. Nothing there suggestes the memory controller has changed in any way.

There was no real change to GF114 from GF104, if anything there were minor changes to help with leakage, but nothing that changes actual outward functionality of the GPU. In fact GF114 and GF104 are pin compatible, which means you can take a GF114 drop it on a GTX460 PCB and it will work. In fact, the transistor count didn't even change, which indicates there was no real design change, more of just a revision of the silicon. All that said, it still wouldn't likely be a simple task to flash a GTX460 with a GTX560 BIOS, though I don't think it is as impossible you all seem to think.
