Gigabyte Bios Configuration Issue

Cleaned both the socket and the processor with a contact spray cleaner and a toothbrush, perfect condition, no thermal paste left.

Left it dry for 4-5 hours.

Installed everything back together, same problem.

After loading optimized setting for the bios, the pc won't boot until XMP (profile 1) is enebled.

And again, sometimes pc freezes or gets a blue screen error: WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR

the WHEA error 99% of the time is caused by insufficient CPU voltage

Would you recommend to pump a bit of voltage into the CPU?

With XMP on, Aida64 says the CPU is 4% overclocked although I didn't change anything else.

sounds like your XMP is overclocking the system, and is probably the culprit

the ram not working without XMP enabled is a worry on its own, as that says somethings wrong with either the RAM, or the automatic settings for it

maybe you could just flash the old bios back?

Youre lucky because I had a problem last month with a gigabyte Z87 board after updating the bios and i managed to fix it

Not sure if it will work for you but there is nothing to lose.

Basically what you want to do is follow this guys steps on making a USB Bootable -- this guy uses the files for a Z170 chipset so its not compatible with your board you want to use the FPT files I have provided below.

After a bit of googling, it seems that my method is not compatible with yours and you need to do a little wrangling to get it to work -- The info you are looking for is in the 2nd post there. -- the FPT link is dead so here is a fresh one

Follow the instructions and you should be able to force the recovery bios to kick in and flash it back with what should the previous bios.

Thank you very much for your help!
The FPT file in the link is for Z97, my chipset is H97 (H97-D3H), would it work for mine? I couldn't find FPT for H97 anywhere.

No idea. Basically if it's not compatible then it won't flash then you have to find the right chipset files. if you have nothing to lose. It wont Bork your pc up any less

Got a new MOBO but with the same issue (same BIOS version + features).
Tried to find FPT for my board my no luck, Gigabyte support doesn't help much as well, asked them if I can ship the MOBO so they can flash F3 or switch the BIOS chip.

Found i5 4440 processor but even if it work smooth, won't indicate the problem since many features of my 4790k are missing in it.

Ideas?

SPI flash or get an asrock mobo

I cannot find an asrock mobo in a good condition that ships to Israel =[

Could you please recommend for a SPI flasher or I can order on eBay any with 8 connectors as my BIOS chip?
