Hello Everyone,

First time poster here and apologies if I have posted in the wrong section and I'm happy for a moderator to move to the more appropriate section if required.

I've just taken delivery of a brand new custom built PC with the following specs:

12900k 16 core 24 thread CPU
32gb RAM (DDR5 5600mhaz/cl36)
RTX 3090 graphics (ROG)
2x 2tb gen 4 NVMe SSDs (5 year warranty)
8tb HDD
360mm AIO liquid cooler (5 year warranty)
1250w PSU (10 year warranty)
Lian Li D011 case
6x Corsair SP 120 fans (2 year warranty)
Wi-Fi/Bluetooth
Windows 10 Pro

I also purchased a Gigabyte M32U monitor to go with it and there is my problem. I only got the new PC and monitor today and my eldest son helped me set everything up. I run into a problem though and I'm scratching my head and a simply google search hasn't helped much. Every 15-20 minutes, the screen on my monitor just goes black, no warning or anything and I have to reset the KVM switch at the back to get it back onto my Display Port setting and get a signal posted to my monitor. Does anyone know what the issue is here and could offer any solution I would be most grateful. Is there anything I need to download or update or anything like that ?

I have also now installed OSD Sidekick instead of having to use the KVM switch at the back.

Cheers,

Chris

For most cases it is a poor cable. Use only certified display port cables. It is a 10bit 144Hz 4K, what KVM supports that?

In the first instance, connect it directly to the PC and see if the problem goes away.

If not, then could be several things, with the monitor as the prime suspect. Try a new cable if the problem persists and then look for other things.

The KVM that is built into the monitor.

Cheers Ferrum Master, the cables I am using are the ones that came with the monitor in the box, they were brand new in plastic etc...

Strange wording. KVM stands for keyboard, video, and mouse... so that's just a video input switch.

Try a good cable for starters. The OEM cables can be bad too. There were even scandals about it for Dell.

If you're running at 4K 144 Hz try dropping to 4K 120 and see if it's still the same.

It seems showing Gigabyte in their true colors again(brown)... lulz

Cheers Qubit, it is directly connected to the PC. The HDMI cable is in it's slot and the Display Port is in it's slot as well

Ok, does it do this on both inputs then? Might be worth unplugging the one that's not being used.

Do you have another PC that you could connect it to? A different graphics card would be good too. I assume you're running it at 4K/144. You could try dropping back to 1080/60 and if that's good, try various other resolutions too.

Monitors do have bugs in them. For example, I've got a BenQ 1080/144 monitor that sometimes gives a signal error and no picture when the PC is first switched on, or the refresh set to 144Hz. The fix is to switch it off and on, a mild pita. Hence it's possibly that your monitor has a fault on it, possibly firmware.

i had the EXACT SAME Problem with my M32U.
seems to be either a cold solder joint or something similar.
because it got worse over time and the panel never turned on again after around 4 weeks. (RMA said the panel was indeed dead)

i'd RMA it.

Yeah, a bad monitor was my feeling too.

I have the exact same issue, and after updating the firmware the issue seems to have gotten worse, i imagine it will end up dead too, i bought the monitor a while back but no long have any proof of purchase and didn't know it had the issue until after moving house so had a few months unused, anyone got a solution either to get the monitor to be usable or to have gigabye sort it out? Thanks for any assistance in advance
